Good morning. Only 20 degrees outside, but going up to 45 today. Maybe this is a good day to go out and look for some sticks for my winter vase. Maybe I'll get it done before winter is over. 57 days till Spring!

So what's with all this lactose intolerance we hear about these days. Was it always a problem and it just now has a name or is it a new problem. And if it's a new problem, why? Or maybe it's just the new medical problem to have? I agree about whole milk tasting the best. As a teen I remember visiting my aunt. She'd always offer me a cup of coffee - with skim milk. It made the coffee look and taste awful.
Who knows why, but my guess it's a new problem to have for whatever reason. Whole milk is definitely better tasting and adding skim milk in coffee is.....well, I'd rather have it black. Give me the real thing....cream/half and half, etc. That's why my heart goes out to the dairy farmers...they are being put out of business.

Topsy turvy world, warmer this AM than when I went to bed, and lows around 50 just aren't supposed to happen in the PNW in January...

The 2 Cold fronts (in the low to mid 40's over night) are finally going away today . . . We are supposed to get up to the Mid 70's . . . And with that said. took awhile only use 2% milk now days (They want me to use 1%/skim or none - NOT HAPPENING), will use whole milk occasionally, especially for Chocolate Milk or Malted Milk or rare occasion "Strawberry Milk, or "Mother's Milk" and if there is no 2% available for coffee . . . OH - And don't forget with Cookies . . . ;) However, NO Cream or Half/Half or worse - powdered milk in coffee . . . Ice Cream & Whipped Cream are a must and as for canned evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk and "Radiated" Shelf Stable Box Milk - always around for emergencies and when I get the "Baking BUG" (which is very rare thee days) . . . Just Sayin' . . .

Hola .. :)

George Carlin once said (and I'm paraphrasing here) .. "I used to toke up all day long, but now, at my age, a hit or two does the trick .." ..

I have to say, I fall into that definition these days .. long gone are the "Days of Haze" .. as well, the weed that's out there now will simply kick your .... .. I don't know how a Weed Tester person could do it .. if you're already blasted, how can you compare anything else until that blast wears off .. ?? Not to mention the increased cost of food ..

Then, there is the issue of simply passing out in the recliner while watching a Marathon of "Ancient Aliens" or "Forged in Fire" .. or "Game of Thrones" for the 22nd time ..

I do feel safe in saying that I'm confident this Company will have no problem attracting Quality Applicants ..

It's not new, that's why there is such a thing as "Lactose" free milk, it's just seldom talked about.
My hubby was diagnosed with it years ago, and never drinks milk.
It causes gut aches, depending on how much and often you consume at the time.
Some people have no tolerance at all, and some can get away with drinking small amounts once in a while when consumed with other food, like cereal.
Hubby never has a problem with milk/cream when used in soups and recipes, (cooked)

From the "Digging Through the Archives" File ..

Back about 20 years ago now, when my hands did what I needed them to do, I had really hit my stride .. I still had the energy to hustle and get out there .. those were the days .. 20 years goes by so fast .. and things change so much .. I think I can at least say, I had a modicum of talent, without sounding too boastful ..

It's hard to know what what's really good or not. About 30 years ago I was diagnosed with MVP, mitral valve prolapse. Turns out about 70% of the population has it and I probably had it all my life and just didn't know it. So, I told the dentist about this new development and then every time I went to him I'd have to swallow a whole mess of penicillin before he'd work on my teeth. I said, "Doc, I've had this all my life and have been going to the dentist all my life and never had a problem. If 70% of the population has this, doesn't that put it in the realm of normal?" But, he insisted because that's what was recommended. Then all of a sudden he said I didn't need to take the penicillin anymore. What, suddenly it's ok? I still have the MVP. I can't imagine it's a good idea to take a mega dose of penicillin just one time. Sigh. o_O

It took me about 5 years to get good enough with an airbrush and a paintbrush before I felt confident enough to actually do that on a guitar .. both of these were commissions, and prior to putting them in the hands of the customers, I displayed them at a large Musical Instrument exhibition in Nashville .. it was 1999 or maybe 2000 .. folks kept asking me how much they were, thus, I added the "Not For Sale" signs ..

In the end, I got about 2 years of future work out of that display ..

The photos are not that great, simply because I had an early generation digital camera back then ..

There is a wealth of good folks out there that do much better work than I .. or at least, the quality of the work I used to do .. age, energy, pain, drive, hand trembling bouts, lack of inspiration, days of general melancholy, eye sight, etc, it's a Tale as Old as Time ..

Truth is, I've lost much of the Joy that comes with making something and watching it unfold, day by day .. Music and Instruments were my Life, for so long .. yet, I tossed aside other things that would have been much more rewarding and would have allowed me to bask in the glow, had I not been selfish and self-serving ..

Some days, like today, with Winter still holding a firm grip, my mind drifts into the Past ..

O, Willie, those are stunningly beautiful! You are indeed talented, even though you feel you have lost your mojo, you have meaningful and lasting memories of your art!

Maybe another case of it was good for you until it wasn't... until next time, when it will be good for you again? :)

Very similar experience, here. I had a steel shoulder joint replacement, so massive doses of amoxicillin, which is sort of a penicillin derivative. Finally, a decade or so later and a new dentist said that was obsolete. Good thing, because I had developed a sensitivity to anything related to penicillin.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda, story of my life. Many others too. You are not alone @Uncle Willie

I don't think there are many of us who don't have regrets about some of our choices in life, but it does no good to dwell on a past that can't be changed, and had we taken a different path...we have no way to know if the results would have been any happier an outcome in the end...

In spite of the fact that I have absolutely no belief in any 'fairy tale' endings for me as depicted in the video, I've always loved the lyrics to this song...

Good morning Yiddle. I totally agree. We'd like to think that making different decisions would have lead to a happier outcome, but maybe the opposite would be true. Some scientists believe we live in many dimensions. If that's true then maybe what might have been is actually happening somewhere.

If you changed something in your past, it's not a given that you'd be a better/happier person today. You've created beauty with your talent that will be here long after you're gone.

Good morning :)

I need help with battery chargers. My current one (Xtar) isn't fully charging my bats…only about 3/4. I use it 2-3 times a week and it's about 2 years old. My previous one, a Nitecore, lasted about the same time while being used just as much. Is that all that can be expected from them? What's your favorite?

I drink my tea plain (no calories) but every now and then a little half & half makes it so special (despite the calories)!

@Slots you may know this already but in case you don't…inability to digest milk is caused in people who are unable to digest lactose, which is milk sugar, because they lack lactase, the enzyme that difests lactose. Has your hub tried lactose-free milk…it has lactase added to it so ok for lactose intolerant people.

@Uncle Willie your artwork is stunning . It sucks to not be able to do the things we could do when we were younger or healthier. ((((Hugs)))
