I wonder if it wasn't just your house, but the area that was a "Danger Zone"?

So far our UPS delivery people have been great, but I guess it depends on the driver. We've seen some who are lazy and downright mean. It just seems like so many people just don't care about people they don't know. Our daughter has the UPS delivery person on video throwing packages up on her porch. They confronted them, didn't make a bit of difference. I hate getting people in trouble, but sometimes you don't have a choice but to file a complaint.
A friend sent me a bird carving that belonged to his wife who passed away and she wanted me to have it. This carving won first place in a wood carvers' international competition several years ago, worth a lot so the guy insured it accordingly and had the UPS store do the packing. The carving came in pieces and the clear cover was shattered. Luckily I was able to fix the bird and we had to have a new cover made but I was furious. Our driver sucks.

Hi, Janet. Could you tell me where you ordered plants? I'm thinking of ordering a few things this year, though I'm not sure exactly what and from whom.

In fact, I'd love to hear from any others here who you order from and why you like them.
I don't order plants online anymore because catalogs typicaly only have plants that do well in the northern states but when we lived up north my two favorites were Burpee and Johnny's seeds.

Burpee Seeds and Plants - Home Garden, Vegetable Seeds, Annual Flowers - Burpee

Johnny’s Selected Seeds | Supporting Farms & Gardens Since 1973

BTW since you live in a southern state make sure whatever you buy does well in your zone.

Thanks, Bea. I've actually heard of Johnny's seeds because a lady on one of the gardening videos I watch loves their seeds. I'll check out both sites.

Hola .. :)

Getting some of that white stuff that falls out of the sky .. roads still warm enough that it's not creating an issue driving .. it's purdy .. :) .. pulled deep into the Cemetery I pass on the way to the workshop .. it's an old one .. sat and watched the snow fall for a time in total silence, vape in one hand, coffee in the other ..

Watched "Schindler's List" last night for the I don't know how many times ..

1.jpg

Those are the snows I like, so quiet while the snow is falling. I love that.

NOPE - NA DA . . . Although, given what is happening today, I would not joyfully announce this outside the USA - Born, "breaded", "toasted" - American all the way (Mother's family English/Irish- oh and DAR . . . & Father's family came from Italy) . . .

AND - As for previous employment - started working at 14 yo and had many jobs (would hate to have to list all the jobs/professions I had throughout the years). Ya' know what they say - "Jack-of-all-trades" and "Master of None" - even with a couple of degrees/State licensees. So Yea - back in the day I did some basic "Book keeping" - even worked in Bank as drive-up teller during a HS work study program (was only 17yo at the time) . . . .

However, "My" efficiency & organizational skills come from always being question and told I knew nothing by family when I was going up. SO - When I finally got "Myself" together - I made a concerned effort to make sure - if I didn't know something - to Learn about whatever it is . . .

Also - If I am going to "Share" I want to make sure to have all the information sometimes to my detriment . . .

,

I admire you for rising above the idea that you weren't good enough. I never really got over that.

I usually order from Grow Joy, Great Garden Plants and American Meadows. Gardners Supply is good for supplies. I'm sure there are others that are just as good. Check out what your zone is on the website and plants are sent at the proper planting time for your zone. I've always had good luck with their products. Great Garden Plants was a first time order for me last year and I was quite impressed with the ajuga plants I ordered.

Thanks. I'll check those out. I'm in zone 7, by the way.

Good morning. People sleeping late this morning? It was 19 degrees when I put the suet out this morning. We might reach 40 degrees today, but the sun is shining and looks like a lovely day if you don't have to spend a lot of time outside.

@MikeADore We're in zone 7 too. 50 days until Spring!

. . . THANKS, for the compliment . . .

But - To be honest, IMHO - both personally & professionally, Ya' can never ever get over situations/issues that have effected your life that way. However, Ya' can learn how to "COPE" with them to improve your life . . . Hey, thankfully - it took me quite some time, but I'm still coping with "My" life and how to "Live" it "NOW" . . . Just Sayin' . . .

Morning, lizards.

In between storms, and thankfully got a little cooler overnight, although still above freezing here. Good for the snow in the hills! But it does look like our infamous pineapple express is on it's way, by mid day. And glad we're on high ground!

Good morning! :)
View attachment 866627 Sunrise at my place this morning.
So beautiful......breathtaking!

This is one of my favorite places to order from...prices are reasonable, shipping is FREE, and they package their plants better than any other place I've ever ordered from.

GrowJoy – Plants to get you growing - GrowJoy, Inc
One of my favorites, also! Packaging is excellent!!

Johnny's Seeds is an excellent source for seeds.
Another big time favorite for me is: Onalee's Seeds, LLC: Home Page

I admire you for rising above the idea that you weren't good enough. I never really got over that.

Hola .. :)

I've carped on this before, I know .. (what have I not carped on over the years .. ??) ..

My Mother was a tough as nails German woman .. she was cold to the core and remained that way her entire life .. the discovery of my very early childhood history, which some of you may or may not remember, did help explain some of that .. but, none the less, she always treated me as if I was not good enough .. my Father (who turned out to actually be not my Biological Father), which I've also written about here, was a good Man and never gave a hint of the fact that I was not his Real Son .. he always had a secret yearning to be a Professional Musician, and I attribute him to my early interest in Music .. yet, until I left Home and struck out on my own, I cannot recall my Mother ever having said she loved me .. this never changed up until the day she passed ..

Add to that the fact that I came of age during the Manly, dominate Male era .. when Men Were Men and by Odin, you better know it .. yet, I always leaned towards the Arts, making it difficult to impossible to really fit in School and in Social Situations, beginning around the age of 12 or 13, when we are really beginning to form as a Person .. I felt like an outcast in some ways .. fortunately, I did find a few like minded kids .. I suppose things may be a little similar for some young folks these days, at least those that are not convinced they are somehow "special" ..

At any rate, throw all this in a bag and shake it up, and it all somehow, at some point, gave me somewhat of a steely resolve .. which was enhanced by my Military time and the discipline that taught me .. I hate to use the term "Self Made Man", but, in my case, it holds some water .. that, and a Young Woman long ago that showed me what true Love can be ..

I don't blame my Mother anymore, nor do I blame circumstances .. I've tried to free myself of those chains, although the Dark Days do still come and likely always will, until the Reaper comes knocking ..

The point is, we're all more than just "Good Enough" .. doubt will always creep in unannounced, it's the product of so many things, the baggage that we all carry .. it speaks to our Humanity that we are able to power through it and motor on .. never giving up, never throwing in the towel .. (well, perhaps sometimes throwing our hands up in despair ..)

"Regrets, I've Had a Few .."
