Good morning :)

A big 4 day cluster of dog shows Louisville has been canceled after 2 days. We packed up and heading home today.. So many shows canceled across the country, who knows when they will start again. Means no income for us other than web site orders until???

We are OK, but others not so much..
I know it’s not important in the grand scheme of things but this virus has hit my world too. Monthly orchid societies and orchid shows are being cancelled right and left. The cancelled shows generate a good portion of attending vendors’ income and advertising.

Walmart and Publix (grocery store) just announced they are closing at 8pm every evening to sanitize. I don’t know how and how much but I’m glad. Every bit helps and these two are the stores we frequent the most.

Our Publix restocked and sanitized last night but the shelves were just about empty of p/towels/t/paper.
We went this morning to get some Ezeikiel bread for the freezer, and it was crowded. Everyone seemed calm but serious!

Fortunately we've been stocked with t/paper and p.towels for awhile now....we're using p/towels for drying our hands rather than cloth towels...bathrooms and kitchen. Sanitizers are easily made when we run out.

This virus thing reads like a science fiction movie........thing is, it's real.....

My grandchildren are home schooled, so they won't be missing any schoolwork.....alas to them.....lol....they're kept busy with fun things, too!
Most churches have granted dispensation, but I would not have gone anyway! Online Mass is always available.

Good morning Gracie and Bea. It's 39 outside, but feels milder. Definitely feels like Spring and that makes me happy! I hope everyone is healthy and stays that way.

That sounds mighty good .. fingers crossed that a Liquor Store is open in your area .. I'm personally fine with my booze and weed stash ..
Too bad on the Cruise .. 10 days at sea sounds great ..

Don't know if we'll ever find a deal like this cruise again, but at least we'll get our money back for this one. We're supposed to get together next Sunday with the other couples to decide what we want to do. Yes, 10 days sounds wonderful so I hope we can work something out. We grew up with these couples so we were really looking forward to spending some time together.

Just heard that our liquor stores are closing on Tuesday until further notice. I certainly hope that doesn't include our local food store that has a large wine section in it. I guess I understand closing the whole state store, but our food store is not closing so it wouldn't make sense to close off an internal section of the store. We'll see. Western PA stores aren't expected to close though. Guess they don't have the virus out there. We still can order from the state stores and have stuff delivered to our home, but there's a delivery fee so that negates any savings from sales.

Turns out I did have a bottle of Jamison's here so I was able to make the Bailey's. This recipe called for 2 packets of hot cocoa mix and I don't think it's as good as using the bottle of regular Hersey's chocolate. Still, this batch will not be going to waste!

Happy Sunday, loungers.

Well, snow stopped late yesterday, and, oddly enough as predicted, temps dropped overnight. A sweltering 28 atm, so I suspect there'll be a few black ice issues for those who have to go out. May reach 45 later today, and a warming trend (and dry!) on it's way.

Uh, bad timing...

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone has a good day today!

DH has 2 appointments on monday in New Orleans. So far they haven't closed. We'll have to spend the night on the New Orleans side of the lake tonight with my sister and call LSU monday first thing to see if they closed or if he still has to go for his ultrasounds. I hate not knowing until the last minute. If they weren't important tests I'd just reschedule but these are pretty important. Guess I'll find out if he still has tests tomorrow morning.

Agree ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

However, the funny thing is . . . I went to Publix's to get milk & some food . . . There are at least 6 in the immediate area and it depended on which store Ya' went to with how crazy/sane people were, especially in the parking lots. The closet store (Large takes up whole block) to where I live - "MAD HOUSE" . . . The one 6 blocks away and 1 of the smallest - WORSE . . . 1 Mile away (small) - and the other also 1 mile away and parallel to each other one of their Largest in a huge Shopping center - Full Parking Lots ? ? ? ? - drove by Not going in . . . AND - Finally, another of their largest stores in a major shopping center with another one across the major roadway - No Problem parking, getting in store, finding motorized cart, People were actually being friendly/helpful if needed and to top that off, while TP shelves were empty by the time I got there, there were more then enough Paper towels (even the cheap ones on sale). Of course, No Antibacterial Soap/Hand Sanitizes/Alcohol/Cleaning Wipes-Sprays (but there was Bleach). OH YEA - BTW: As a side note and something I found extremely humorous - there was absolutely No Delmonte Can Vegetables that were on sale either . . .

Fortunately we've been stocked with t/paper and p.towels for awhile now....we're using p/towels for drying our hands rather than cloth towels...bathrooms and kitchen.

YEP - And, as I posted elsewhere (slightly edited):

Thought I would jump to say, anyone who has gone through a Major Regional event (Hurricanes/Tornado/Floods/Blizzards/Earthquakes) should surely know by now what is NEEED to stock up on and already be prepared for the next event. In addition, anyone who is possibly able to remember the same was done during "The Cold War" era, especially for any pending Nuclear Wars - would also know how to take precautions to "hunker-down" and what they NEEDED for surviving too.

Personally, I surely do . . . AND - Even though Hurricane season has yet to start, I always replenish "Stuff" before people get crazy and there is a "run" to get NEEDED Supplies . . . Matter of fact, if "You" are a savvy shopper - Ya' already have purchase what is NEEDED during the sales, especially when supplies are available and inexpensive too. . . EX: Sale on TP (12 rolls for $5.99 - Added to the half of pack in storage) & Paper towels ( 6 Large =11 rolls $7.99 added to 3 rolls had) both w/$1+ Off coupons.

Besides the fact, during BOGO sales and using a coupon for each item - is when I am replenishing Can/Shelve Stabilized Food enough for a month, including bottled water for at least 2 Weeks to a month. Then there is the Med's I NEED for 2 months, Antibacterial - Soap (half gallon container to refill sm pump bottles in KIt/BR) / Wash Cloths (The ones they use in hospital or when bed ridden at home). In addition, there is - Alcohol 70% (2 bottles) & Alcohol Wipes (Hands Sanitizer/Restaurants hand them out), Peroxide 3% (3 Bottles), Huge First Aid Kit. Oh Yea - almost forgot - Bleach (2 Gallons), Bleach/Bleach Wipes & Disinfectant in Gallon jug (2 Bottles)/Sprays & Wipes,

BTW: I am lucky enough to even have an Oxygen Generator (even 1 that's portable) if NEEDED . . .

So - AM I Stocked Up for "Corona-19" and either being in self-induce isolation/government demanded quarantine . . . Yep - I believe so . . .

OH - Food for thought,
IMHO - And personally experiencing the event/s - the initial reaction by the Federal Government to this Virus is absolutely no different then the reaction / no action taken about HIV even before and after it was discovered . . . Just "My" Personal Opinion & :2c:

NOW - Before I forget again - To bring it back on the original topic. Yes - Almost there stocking up on vaping supplies, just waiting for a good enough sale . . . Just Sayin . . . ;)

EDIT: Suggestion, No Face Mask - Use a Bandana / Buff / Bike Mask (Sporting good store) . . . AND - If Ya' have any stores in your area/can get to that sell the Head covering Muslim woman for going out in public - that just might work too . . . Just a thought . . .;)

SO Yea - I think I might be ready to either "Self-Isolate" = Preventative/Cautionary / "Self-Quarantine" = Virus if NEEDED . . .

I hope everyone is healthy and stays that way.

SO - AGREE ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

* Cough * Cough *

Is a drive in the countryside and a visit over the bridge to Lambertville / Frenchtown in the near future for "You" & "Mike" . . .

Most churches have granted dispensation,

Sheesh ... I didn't get the word. I go to a large church ... usually about 800 people attend. This morning I counted just a little over 100 people scattered through out the pews. Our archdiocese has suspended mandatory mass attendance 'until further notice'. Although all church services will continue, attendance is optional.

Nope ... closer for us to visit our Daughter in Delaware, plus there's no sales tax in that state.

Uh, east coast in a power blackout?? Rare that I'm the first to check in :)

Another cold night, may reach the mid 40s here, but they claim we may hit 60 by the weekend. Yeah, crazy weather to go along with all the rest of the crazy...

Shame on the mailman!

No risk of that here. Our mail is consistently delivered sometime between 11:30 AM and 6 PM. "Contract" carrier out here in the sticks, but can't see why she's so inconsistent, other than maybe the pizza place a couple miles away.

Hola .. :(

We've entered the phase of bars / restaurants / casinos shutdown .. I don't know how far any of this is going to go, I don't know if we keep going from bad to worse .. who does know .. ??

What I do know is, the tipping point has been reached as far as the Economy goes .. the Dominos have fallen and they continue to fall ..

It probably sounds crass, yet I wonder how much of this "cleaning, cleaning, cleaning" is really effective .. while it sounds good and pro-active, no place can have a person walk behind every other person and clean as they go .. the way I read it, distancing yourself from people is the most effective insulation .. because, I think we have a long way to go as far as who has it becomes fully known ..

Shame on the Powers that Be for dragging their heels .. drive-thru testing facilities should have been set up ASAP in any area of any size and they should be totally free .. the Vulnerable, the Homeless and the Indigent should also be part of this mobilization ..

Common sense would indicate that identifying carriers and those infected should be the absolute top of the list, IMO ..

Our mail is consistently delivered sometime between 11:30 AM and 6 PM.

AH - Around here the earliest is 4:30-5 PM, however "Snail" Mail is usually delivered anywhere between 6:00 - 8:00 PM . . . And - As for any USPS Delivery of packages Never Ever to your door, just "jammed" into small mailbox / Slip to come pick up at Main PO which is 2 miles away (most people here do not drive) . . . :-x

Worse though are all the "Older" people who live here that sit there starting at 3:30-4:00 PM everyday just waiting for "ANY" mail to come, even "Flyers", hoping they get something . . . Just Sayin' . . .

...I've been living "socially distanced" for a number of years now...;) Not by choice, but by circumstance, so I've already adapted to living this way no matter what term they choose to use... That's why having this thread...the people here...and losing myself in painting have become so important... My little dog is great company, but totally lacking as a conversationalist...
