I, personally, have had just about all the doom, gloom, and talking heads I can take! I just about threw something at my TV tonight when some Dr. said how critically important the "Millennials" are in the fight against this virus "because they understand tech better than anybody". What in Hades does that have to do with the situation?!!

I have prepared as best I'm able and can afford. I'm staying inside and there's nothing more I can do except wait it out.

I,too am staying as much as possible Sandy!...'course, i usually do that on a daily basis anyway:)

bless my gdaughter's heart...we just talked on the phone and now she insists on taking me anywhere I need to go out n about. I'm blessed to have her:wub:

Oh swell ... last week our 1 1/2 year old furnance stopped working. Relied on the fireplace and a kerosene heater to stay 'warm' until we got it fixed.

Now our 2 year old refrigerator is on the fritz. Will take 3 to 10 days to get a replacement part. Repairman suggested unplugging it and let both the freezer and 'fridge thaw completely. Then turn it back on and it may/should get us through until he get the replacement part.

Unloading what we can into the 'spare' fridge and freezer, the rest is going into coolers. Then off to get some ice someplace to dump in the coolers over night

Sheesh! What next? At least it's not boring around here being stuck at home.

And to think we're actually supposed to be on a 10 day Caribbean cruise this week.

c'est la vie

I, personally, hope that you cancel the trip...better safe than sorry and you can always do it another time.:)

I think we'll be ok with just ice since we'll just need the coolers for 24 hours or so. These coolers are rated for 3-5 days! Guess we need to look into replacing our 40 year old coolers.

I heard one of the grocery store chains, can't remember which one, is doing that from 7-8:00 every morning - just seniors. Nice. Sounds like others may try the same thing.[/QUOTE

They're doing the same thing here...bless them!

'Afternoon everyone...

Messaged my granddaughter a few days ago to check up on her circumstances as to work and if she'll be paid during what's going on. She's the youth services coordinator for a public library...was already working from home and will continue to be paid. Though the library will be closed to the public, she will still have to go in a day or two a week while PA is shut down.

Daughter has been messaging me every few days to ask about me and my answer is always...."same old same old"...;) I do need to force myself back to my easel to pull myself out of the doldrums...

Kind of nice to see the electric company step up to the plate for those who aren't able to work and get paid while this is going on. From an email sent yesterday..."We will not cut off service to any customer for unpaid bills until further notice, and we will reconnect service for any customers who were disconnected recently. Of course, we’ll continue to disconnect service as requested by customers who are moving, or when necessary for safety reasons."

YES - "You" Absolutely DO . . . Whether or not Ya' in any doldrums, remember many of the great artist did their most impressive works when they were going through rough/troubling times, depressed or even just emotionally challenged (EX: Vincent van Gogh just to name one) . . . Just Sayin' . . .

If u had a noise like the fan hitting ice in the back, I recently saw a workaround for that. GL

Yes, that's the problem. It was fixed in January, replaced the whole fan/cooling unit on the back inside wall of the fridge. And the same problem is back again. Do you recall what the workaround is or where you saw it.

Oh yes, the trip was cancelled. That's why we're sitting home spending time here at ECF.

I went shopping and hit the lottery. Sam's was wheeling out a pallet of Charmin while I was there. Two weeks' worth of dog food and a couple of months of TP.
I am also doing some yearly cleaning. I have a pair of Bates hightop boots that are super comfy. I have had them since I worked in the Texas prison system. I pulled them out and just finished cleaning them with some saddle soap. When they are dry I will put on some black leather dye then finish them off with Mink Oil. They should be good for another year. I think that 22 years is a good amount of time for a pair of boots. There were many a mile on the motorcycles with Nancy, too.

From the epidemiologist at south FL university. Shop at stores that sanitize their premises nightly and shop when they first open in the morning. Everything will be cleaner than later. Also this virus can live on surfaces for hours depending on the material. He suggests wiping everything we purchase with disinfectant wipes, including all grocery store items.

He recommends that anyone over 60 and anyone who has heart disease or COPD or diabetes stay inside.
