Good morning,

@Bea-FL Thanks for all the info you provided :)

I've been wiping down my mods and actually holding one of the Lysol wipes while I vape.....maybe excessive, but.........

Seems like there is a run on appliances being restored or replaced, and we're in that group since we are having a new water heater installed this morning....no problem with hot water, but the old one was spitting out some flakes or whatever into the pipes and affecting pressure......we did have it flushed a few times, and knew the w/heater would eventually need to be replaced, so today is that day.
Everyone stay safe, please!

@Uncle Willie .... here's one for your tin foil hat conspiracy files.

Is the roll out of 5G networking connected to the Covid-19 virus. The city of Wuhan is a major hub where China was rolling out and testing 5G transmissions. There are over 10,000 5G towers around the city. Scientists are discussing:

.... Wireless radiation from 1G to 5G have all emitted modulated “Radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic fields (EMFs)” and there are literally thousands of studies showing biological effects from exposures to man-made electromagnetic waves, and out of these, hundreds showing biological effects on the immune system...

And wondering/therorizing if it has anything to do with the mutation of the virus and it's rapid spread among the population.

While I do appreciate that tid-bit, in addition to my standard Tin Foil hat, I also never leave home without my Portable Faraday Cage ..

Just a fix in case you get stuck not being able to get parts. I'm sure you'd prefer a real fix or replacement overall.

ah yes ... the 1st repair man did a bit of that before replacing the cooling fan unit that covers the coils. The 2nd repairman who came out (and we're waiting for him to get the 'same' parts to replace again) warned/cautioned doing that because the plastic is so thin it's easy to warp and or melt it. That's why we'll have to completely defrost (unplug the fridge) for 24 hours before he comes back to install the new parts.

"Ruminations on a Late Morning .."

I know a young woman, she's in her early 30's .. has one small child, a 2nd grader .. she works one full time job and one part-time job .. the School Shutdown has caused her to rely more on her Mother and other relatives to take care of the child ..

One job is as a Cashier at a major grocer, the other is a Cashier at a Convenience Store .. neither place thus being within the realm of non-essential shutdown ..

A hard working person, trying to do the best she can, no Husband, relying on herself to get by, without the help of Governmental Assistance .. yesterday, I think she just needed to unload on someone and I happened to draw the short straw ..

Her quandary .. ?? Continuous exposure to the Public at large and a growing fear that the clock is ticking each day as her odds increase of being exposed .. no real protection being offered by her employers other than "cleaning" the places regularly ..

She wishes they would simply lay her off so she can collect unemployment benefits, even though she knows it would be less than what she earns .. but, it would allow her to not scramble for Child Care and whatever fears may come with that and it would allow her to become "socially distant" .. she can't just up and quit, because that would mean she can't collect unemployment .. and when you live check to check, even waiting to get unemployment can be a real strain ..

So, she carries on, trying to present a smile to the Public she waits on .. yet, internally torn by circumstances beyond her control .. she's scared ..

In addition, she has had an ever increasing number of Customers that unload on her because this or that is out of stock, accusing that there must be "some in the back" and demanding to know when what they want will be back on the shelf .. which, of course, she does not know the answer .. thus adding to the stress level .. this sort of customer behavior seems to be ramping up ..

I don't have answers, who does .. ?? I think the Human Toll of this "Brave New World" we've entered into goes much deeper, and will have a lingering effect on things ..

With things such as they are, it appears that the kids graduating from High School / College will not be afforded the joy of walking across that stage and being handed a Diploma .. another facet of the Current Reality ..

    I could make a long list ..

Although, I posted this elsewhere here on ECF, I thought I would share this here with all of you too . . . The discussion concerned Bottle and/or Filtered Water . . . ;)

:offtopic: FYI: For those who might be interested, especially given the conversation now . . .

    Inexpensive DIY Water Filter:

First - Disclaimer I am not, nor ever intend to be a plumber, however I have set this up twice before and am now using the same set-up in "My" Current apartment as a water filter and it works for "Me" - YMMV though . . . Total cost for supplies cost approximately $70.00 , but you may find some of the items cheaper if Ya' shop around (I actually got almost everything at a lower price from a Plumbing supply store - that usually just sells to plumbers) . . . BTW: "You" will need to have an opening available in the Sink next to the main Faucet (like a separate hand sprayer) or have someone drill a hole for the In-Sink Water faucet . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

Items NEEED (most can be gotten at any hardware/plumbing Supply stores):

    Instillation Instructions:

First an foremost - as logic would dictate - Shut OFF Water to Sink ! ! !

Then disconnect cold water hose that goes to faucet . . . Attach Split Water shut off valve to cold water inlet pipe . . . Reattach main hose back to main faucet and new Supply line for Water filter to valve . . . Attach Supply line to Water Filter . . . Attach other end of Water Filter to second Supply line and then to the already installed In-Sink Water Filter . . . Use Strapping to attach Lines an Water Filter to back wall of cabinet under sink . . . Then - Turn cold water supply back ON . . . AND - Just hope that Ya' did everything correctly and there are NO Leaks/Flooding . . . If there is any leaks or flooding try again and make sure connections are correct - it works ! ! ! OH and Remember - depending on how often and how much Filtered Water Ya' use - will depend on how often you will NEED to change Water Filter . . .

Personally I use mine everyday for coffee , cooking, refilling water bottles for drinking, making ice when needed, etc. - so I change mine approximately every 2 - 3 years. No longer, need or use Brita unless a Hurricane is coming here . . .

Anyway - Really hope that this information is helpful . . . Just Sayin' . . .

Dan reminds me .. my kitchen sink area window faces West .. one day, as a got a glass of water, the sun was hitting the glass just right, and as I looked at it, I could see tiny shtuff floating around in the water ..

Within the week, I had installed a water filtration device, dedicated to that sink, for drinking water, coffee, etc .. I also use an Asobu water bottle, filling it each day from that tap .. the bottle could easily double as a defense weapon, especially when filled .. and, it keeps me from using plastic ..

This kit from Amazon is similar to what I installed, it was an easy job .. since that day by the window, I refuse to drink water out of a tap unfiltered unless I absolutely have to ..

Yeah but ... those filters are meant for filtering metals, minerals and chlorine basically from your water. It's not meant to filter bacteria, virus and protozoans. To handle that you need something more along the lines of backpacker's filters.

    https://www.rei.com/search?q=water+filters

For drinking water and coffee water we just use the water dispenser built into the fridge. It has one of those filter cartridges like you two are talking about.
