Meet Me in St Louie Louie
I would again take a minute and say Thanks to all of you that chose to spend some of your busy lives here during this past week .. I sincerely appreciate it .. :) .. while we don't attempt to solve the Worlds Problems, I believe we do have some great Back and Forth, I feel a Connection to you, and, we can bring forward thoughts and memories that we may not have given much Brain Power to in a while .. :) .. all of that is a Good Thing .. and we need more Good Things .. :)

And, after all, that's what Community is all about .. :) ..

Please continue to Post your thoughts, remembrances and issues (within ECF limitations, of course .. ;)) .. and, don't be ashamed to need a little Love sometimes .. :)

We stayed in a hotel in Brigantine for six weeks, courtesy of the casino I was relocating for, when I first arrived in NJ...the beach was infested with greenhead flies....an experience that led me to avoid the beaches there in the future. Those nasty little things actually take a chunk of flesh out of you when they bite!

Oh come on ... put your big girl bikini on ... and suck it up. The green flys are part of the experience. :D

So today was re-wick day ... I was feeling nostolgic too and playing my oldies playlist.

And this one ... this one actually only takes me back to when our kids were little. Janet loved to sing this one with them while in the car. All three of 'em blasting and rocking out to it. I think their rendition is my favorite. But here's the original.

Six weeks in a hotel...on the beach....and I didn't bring any kind of bathing suit to wear...:( The reason for that?....another story that wan't a happy memory, and I'll leave it at that...

A few days back, I got a PM from a guy that's been around ECF for a long time .. He asked me if I would email him a list of my favorite songs .. I scratched my head and thought, "Sheesh, I've got 14K songs on my phone, another 25K uncompressed on my Home Media Server, hundreds of CD's and vinyl that numbers likely over 1000, although I've never really counted them .. and, although I was flattered to have been asked, I don't really keep an actual list .. :)

What I post here and the many, many songs I've posted in the past, are a general reflection of what I'm listening to within that slice of time, and, it changes constantly based on my mood .. my digital content is indexed like :: "Country Rock" / "Slow Dance" / "Classic 1950's" / "Modern Pop" / etc etc etc ..

Yowser @Uncle Willie! That's an awesome, overwhelming collection of music. My meager library is no where / no how comparable. But, I've been spending a bunch of time the last week organizing the physical and electronic libraries. 1st I got all my CDs boxed in alphabetical order by artist. The I went through my electronic library and marked up which albums I have CD's for. The the really tedious part was locating album art for all the electronic albums that were missing art work and adding the tags for the album covers. Yeah! I'm almost done.

I went to bed very, very late the other night. It was already late when my oldest grandson stopped in my doorway to talk. We talked for over 3 hours!

Our talk started out with him telling me how none of his friends remembered some show he watched as a kid, Dragon Flyz. I googled it. It only lasted about 9 months. No wonder no one remembers it.

We talked all about the history of anime for an hour then wandered into other territories. The last hour was about politics, mis-information/dishonesty/sensationalism from media, and how fanatical people can be about their crazy ideas. And lots of stuff in between.

My grandson is 17 years old. I'm really going to miss him when he moves out. He sticks his head in my doorway regularly. Sometimes he just acts silly. Sometimes he'll just mention some little bit of trivia he's learned. Sometimes he'll talk for hours.

If I could record the answer to this I would, if anyone else can it's pretty funny. "Whats 0 divided by 0"

For non-iPhone users Siri -

Imagine that you have 0 cookies and you split them evenly among 0 friends. How many cookies does each person get? See, it doesn't make sense. And Cookie Monster is sad that there are no cookies. And you are sad that you have no friends.

So, all I can say, P, is keep an eye and ear out, because anything I post song wise, is something I like .. you may have heard it before, you may have not .. and, if you have not, check what other material is out there (that's assuming you like what you heard .. :)) .. at any rate, let me throw out a few for today ::

Del Amitri :: Vastly Underappreciated Scottish Band

Wanda Jackson :: The Queen of Rockabilly

The Shelters :: coincidentally, the first Band Tom Petty produced, Byrds/Beatles Rock at it's best

The Monkeys :: Yes, I know, but it's great stuff / From the LP "Good Times"

Nope, never heard of the first 3 and never heard that Monkeys song. Always thought if I ever had a girl she would be named Magdalena, but Mike nixed it. Thought she'd get made fun of and be called Maggot. It was my grandmothers name. She was Hungarian and was called Mugda - ugh! Maybe Maggot wasn't so bad...

Oh my. Our son used to do the same thing with me. Just as I was ready to turn out the light he'd stop in and we'd start talking. Religion, the state of the world etc. As tired as I was I wouldn't trade those time for anything! He was always a thinker and even as a little kid would, out of the blue, ask me a question like, "Mom, do you think birds ever get dizzy?" Then he got married and that was the end of it. So sad. Yay for late night talks and the warm memories created then.

Today was rough. Drove all day mostly through pouring rain. DH drove most of the time because I just couldn't help much. Made it from Huron, OH to Chattanooga, TN. 8 hrs to home tomorrow and hopefully no rain!

I cherish my relationship with my son. He knows he can talk to me about anything, and we have. Now he forgets to tell me important stuff going on (still ADHD) but his dear wife keeps us in the loop. He is concerned about my injury (the big strong Mommy showing weakness) but I assure him I will survive and conquer!

So many parents now days miss the joys of parenthood (JMHO).

Six months ago, a cousin living in Alaska found out that I live in this town, which is where his wife comes from. They visit yearly, and we hadn't seen each other in 50 years. He called yesterday, and they are in town. He wanted to meet with me, so I chose a Chinese restaurant that is usually quiet (I have a hearing loss). We talked for an hour and a half, exchanging information about family history and memories from childhood.

His in-laws and I go to the same church; I looked her up in the parish directory, and I recognized her face. They must have exchanged information about me, and cousin and I talked about some of his siblings. He agrees with my perceptions, and understood me better from community perceptions.

I learned that one of our ancestors is mentioned in "Island in the Middle of the World" about the early days of New Amsterdam. Eager to read the book.

A good day!
