My MIL passed last year, about this time (just over 96), and we didn't have our memorial for a couple months. I think it actually gave us time to get past the initial thump, and come to a point where we were better able to remember the good times, not her last couple of weeks. :2c:

I think, although it's emotionally taxing, we need to abide by the "new rules" for the time being ..

SO - True . . . AND - While I do agree with "You" about most of Life's normal activities and major "Life" events that can be postponed . . . However, when it comes to unexpected "Life' situations - like a "Mother" dying and there is going to be an immediate graveside service - some "compassionate" considerations should be given for the immediate Family, especially at this time . . . If there was no immediate graveside service that would be a different story . . . Again, Just "My" Personal & Professional opinion (Not only a Counselor, but the Founder & Head-Facilitator for over 10 years of a "Gay Community Bereavement Support Group" here in FL) . . .

I don't know how it is in Florida .. here in Fly-Over-Country, some sort of group meal / gathering after a Funeral is pretty much a tradition, many times, it's a Pot Luck with a keg or three .. at a Funeral, folks that want to pay their last respects come in, sometimes from a distance .. they are gathered for that express purpose .. I don't know how that would work out possibly months after the fact when things begin to settle down some ..

AH - You forget, I may live in Florida now, but I have lived in a number of different places and have also participated in numerous cultural/religious customs of morning & grief rich in traditions when a "Loved" one has died. Matter of fact, I have been to numerous events such as you described throughout "My" Whole Life, including those with over a thousand participants in attendance and those who were lucky enough to have at least 2 people come together "Celebrating" their life that they "Lived".

One in particular was a best friend of mine who passed away suddenly (approximately 5 years ago), his wife decided to have a traditional "Quaker" Style gathering. So - His "Celebration of Life" was scheduled 3 months later on the day that would have been his 75th birthday ('MY' family did the same thing when "My" Father died over 30+ years ago too). BTW: He was very well known in the Town & Area where he lived and was a very popular well known artist, he had friends that not only lived near by - but lived all over the World. SO - That gave time for everyone to make arrangements so that "We" All could meet and come together as a group to share what "We" All knew & felt for him throughout the years - A Great Time Was Had By ALL ! ! !

Just Sayin' . . .

Hola .. :)

Well, whether you use a lower to mid-level water filter or a higher end model, I'm all for water filters .. based on what I can see with the naked eye in my water, filtering it thru toilet paper would be an improvement .. :p

The water pressure around these parts is not the Worlds greatest, those 3 stage filters might struggle, I don't know .. (but, I may look into one ..)

What's the skinny on the PA total shutdown .. ?? I'd like to read up on it since that might portend what's coming 'round here ..

Lots of "No's" on that PDF .. and, at first glance, seems a bit inconsistent .. your Gov has essentially shut down a large percentage of your Economy and put a ton of folks out of work ..

"Virtue, Liberty and Independence"

I think someone else posted about it but here's the direct link to the list of all closures.

https://assets.documentcloud.org/do...ustaining-Business.pdf#nt=interstitial-manual

It's a a real estate friend of ours in a tizzy ... even the scheduled closing for "done deals" have to be put on hold. WTH, how would you feel if you were to move into a new house in a few days and now you can't go sign the papers and take ownership. Yikes!

While I, of course, would not like it, to my way of thinking, it would be considered a small speedbump for any that will have a hard time putting food on the table in the coming days, they would wish for such a problem ..

I just don't know if people fully realize how many folks in this Country go check to check .. that threw the towel in on the "American Dream" and just hope to try and get by .. that have no "safety net" .. and will be the ones that suffer ..

Me, I don't say this often, but I've been counting my Blessings lately .. we don't know yet how bad this could get ..

And the Spring Breaker in Florida that was on the 6:00 news yesterday saying "This is my time and I'm going to do what I want to do .." as she sipped a fancy drink, should be placed in stocks in the Public Square .. (within a 6' cordoned radius)

It's hitting home for us (not financially or enough toilet paper). But we've even being doing the social distance from our kids and grandkids. Poor Hux keeps asking when are we going to visit Nana and Poppop again.

The thing we're really concerned about is Brian's job. He just began flying commercial airliners and is considered low on the totem pole. His airline is asking for folks to retire early or volunteer to be laid off. We've got our fingers crossed he doesn't lose his job. Kate's a stay at home wife and mother so it's his check that keeps things afloat.

I'm about done with my work for today, so heading home to the bunker ..

I'll leave it with you, my Friends, this way ::

I try and focus on today, I try and think about the Future .. I keep coming back to what that Future may look like, and, like most of us, I just don't know .. some folks don't seem overly concerned, some folks are in or near panic, etc ..

What I know is, we're likely in for a Ride that will have untold ramifications in the near and possibly, the long term .. next week, the Employment snowball will continue to roll down hill and get larger ..

If you Pray, now is likely a good time for it .. if the Collective effort can move the needle in the right direction, that's all that counts ..

Keep your Fellow Human Beings in those thoughts and Prayers ..

Mike, believe it or not, I have thought of your Family and the issues you mention .. I know how close you and Janet are to the kids / grandkids .. but, you're doing the right thing ..

Our governor closed down all restaurants's sit-downs but they can still do take-out. The major chains may be able to stay afloat for now but small ones I'm afraid will be done.

Many people are losing their jobs. A friend who’s in HR in the hotel business told me today his hotel had to let go 1/3 of its 160 employees today because they have hardly any customers. He himself is laid off until May. Gary and I will be fine…we were very frugal and saved well for years before we retired but we have many friends who live from paycheck to paycheck. What a nightmare.

Good morning. It's only 30 and going to 40 today so it's chilly here, but the sun is shining and that helps a lot.

One good thing coming out of having to stay home is our son and DIL are trying to potty train their youngest. He had a lot of accidents yesterday, but was dry through the night. Isn't it usually the other way around? Well, leave it to Beckett to do things his own way!

Good morning!

Janet you’re so right about the buds. They make me smile and when they open I’ve been known to stand there and greet the open flowers with a “hello”. In the orchid world it takes patience to get to the “hello” because the process often takes weeks or months depending on the type. For example, in phalaenopsis (1st and 3rd pics) it’s about 3 months from the time the flower spike first shows up til the first flower opens but then the flowers last about 3 months too.

Good morning friends:)

It's going to be nice weather here for a few days...I'm so happy about that...I thrive on sunshine!

My GD's car parts shop has basically closed down during this hell...luckily she's got two sets of grandparents to live with! So very many aren't so fortunate!

Beautiful!! I couldn't pick a favorite. It's exciting to see the buds open so you can see the beauty inside! I've got a couple amaryllis from last year that are throwing up 2 bud stalks each. Can't wait to see them open!

Pictures or it didn't happen . . . Also I am sure Ya' want to make "Us" all smile as much as "We" do when we see @Bea-FL post . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

Okay - First of all . . . Good Morning to one and all . . . Hope everyone is doing well an feeling good . . . Bright & Sunny Day w/No Humidity to speak of . . . So All - GOOD ! ! !

However, now as for "My" Weekend - Not So GOOD . . . :nah: Yesterday morning, I was rudely woken-up abruptly from a deep sleep by the Garbage truck collecting garbage right outside the Bedroom window . . . Tired all Day - but was able to take a nape, since there was really nothing else to do . . . Then this morning, woke-up again way to early (6 AM) and couldn't fall back to sleep (don't know why)- only to find out that there was yet again another water main break (not the sewer system this time) . . . While this is an on-going situation, this time it has effected most of the city . . . So there is - NO Washing Hands/Dishes/etc., NO Showers, No Flushing Toilets (or should I say no refilling the tank . . . ) - they say for at least 24 hours . . . NOT HAPPY ! ! ! :-x

Thankfully
- I have bottles of water for Drinking and some hand-sanitizer/wipes/spray disinfectant to use as NEEDED . . .

(BTW: This is meant as just a "humorous" take on "Life" and a laughable situation to hopefully - lighten the overall mood of everyone . . . ;) )

Good morning/afternoon all. We are having rainy weather here and probably it will continue. It is storm season here so we will probably have pop-up storms. Today, since the ground is wet I will put down some weed and feed I picked up the other day.
As far as living payday to payday, it is very hard to do when there are no paydays. My daughter had her hours cut. She works as a sales manager and her business has changed store hours and now closes for 2 days a week. I told her that I hope she isn't looking for me to lower her rent. (Before anyone asks, no I don't charge her rent.) I assured her that if she needs anything just to let me know. As far as our budget goes, we should be fine as long as we can get the food items we need.
