I went to Wally's and picked up some necessities. When I was walking in the cart attendant was gathering some carts and I noticed he had a large pump sprayer on his back and was spraying down all of the carts he had gathered. The store was not that crowded but the shelves were bare in spots. I got a bag of birdseed I was needing. There wasn't any cornmeal so I went over to the isle that has Hispanic foods and there was plenty of it over there.
When I got home I made a batch of the Bird Suet and have it cooling off in the fridge. I will go out in a bit to fill the feeder and check the size of the Suet holders on the side of the feeder. I was surprised at how easy it was to make the suet. I used the wax paper and I think it will cut up to size just fine. Thanks again for the recipe. I'm sure the birds will thank you too. ;)

Jerry

It's fun watching the birds and trying to identify all the different ones. I'm going to sprinkle cayenne pepper on the suet tomorrow to see if that helps to discourage the squirrels. I swear they watch for me to come out in the morning because they're at the suet within a minute or 2.

Depending on how fast your birds go through the suet you could make a double or triple batch and keep it in the fridge or freezer so you don't have to make it as often.

When I went to our grocery store the other day there was only 2 small bags of cornmeal left. Hadn't thought of looking for it in the Hispanic section. I'll keep that in mind. There was no flour at all or paper towels and only a few individual rolls of TP. Fortunately I'd bought one of the big packages of those right before all this started. I brought my own sani wipes for my cart, but didn't see any employees cleaning any. I was very conscious of not picking items up to look at them like I usually do. Then when I got in the car I cleaned my hands, phone and steering wheel. I didn't wipe down all my purchases when I got home though. Since this started I've paid attention to how often I touch my face and it's a lot more often than expected.

And it’s free. I found lots of them but the rest give a free period then you have to pay.

Is that the one by Pixel Art? When I search the app store and find/see that icon it's titled as:

"Adult Coloring Book|COLORS"

Good morning :)

@Uncle the 3 conditions the CDC mentioned were heart disease, diabetes and COPD. Be safe my friend

Since I'm spending more time at home I get to read more but I also download two great apps on my ipad. One for jigsaw puzzles and one for coloring. How do you like my two creations? @yiddleboge6 close your eyes…don’t laugh :p

I would never laugh at something that brings you pleasure...

Do you know if they totally built that nest themselves? Looks like the larger pieces are the perfect shape. Beautiful photography. I thought this was going to be the young girl with the nest outside the window of their house.
Owls don't build their own nests ;) They usually take over a nest left by another bird, such as a hawk. That's what was originally there a few years ago. The photographer/property owner researched and has been assisting them since then by building and reinforcing the nest during the off season when they aren't using it. She also has two nesting boxes, elsewhere on her property, for western screech owls. She's located near Scottsdale, Arizona....the little girl who has owls on her balcony is in OKC.

Morning, loungers.

Another soggy day, yep, spring. But a cozy 41 atm, heading to 50 :)

Made a brief foray out, yesterday. Cabin fever ;) Took a short drive partway up hill (the hill being Mt. Rainier :) ), swung thru sleepy Eatonville and dropped into the grocery there. Most foodstuffs were stocked ok, no TP or serious cleaning supplies. They did have paper towels (didn't need) and kleenex, got some of those just because.

Of course, if food starts getting scare, there's this possibility :)

I have to go out to get DH cigs. I may just send him alone next time and I have plenty of vape stuff for me. I have no one who can go out and get stuff for us. In a few days I'm going to try to order groceries. See if that helps. I'm going to suggest that to my parents. DH still wants to go out. I have to remind him we're supposed to stay in away from people. This is nerve wracking because I can't keep everyone safe.

There's Kroger grocery stores in my area that I ordered..on-line.. groceries and such from, which will be delivered today...you might try that in your area from grocerie stores....good luck!

I saw that Publix has that instacart delivery option. Is it super expensive? I am guessing it is.
It is a bit more expensive, but IMO, is well worth it, rather than having to go in the store.......when I do go in, I bring my own sanitizer wipes, wipe down the cart, and wear gloves that were left over when I was care-giver for my mother...many years ago, and still good... and wipe down the steering wheel. Additionally, its a challenge to stay 6 ft apart, especially at checkout.
We've chosen to do curbside pick up so we can get outside a bit even though it's a short ride.

GOOD MORNING or should I say Afternoon . . . Anyway, haven't caught up and read all the post yet, but I have what I consider an important FYI for those who might be interested:

T-Mobile was going to offer a new plan after the official merger with Sprint at the end of March. However T-Mobile decided to start it up today instead because of the Carona-19 . . . T-Mobile Connect Launches Early to Help the Most Vulnerable in America Get and Stay Connected

AND - Even though I use Metro by T-mobile (different service provider) - this plan cost half as much for the same type of plan: Unlimited Phone/Text & 2G of Data (which T-Mobile increases .5 G every year) . . . Metro $30 per month vs T-Mobile $15 + tax per month (Oh Yea - These are prepaid Plans) . . . You can even sign up to get a Tablet & Service for the same amount if Ya' already are a customer. AND - per chance you are a customer you might be able to change to this $15 plan too. OR - From what I understand, for the $20 plan pre month there is the ability to get a Free Phone .

I just signed-up over the phone - called 1-800- T Mobile (800-866-2453) - spoke with a GREAT CS Rep; Scott (from Idaho - hopefully you will too and if Ya' do tell him that OLD "Witty" Man from Florida sent Ya', I'm sure he'll remember and get a laugh) . . . BTW: They forgave the Activation Fee & Sim Card Fee also . . . All this took only 30 mins and I already recieved a confirmation email . . . The best part I keep "My" same number & Phone too (I still like phone even though it is 5 years old) . . . ;)

Really hope this information is informative & helpful . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

When I checked out at our store they had yellow tape on the floor at the end of the belt, farthest away from the checker. I wasn't allowed to cross it until it was time to pay. Other shoppers spaced themselves behind each other and the store really wasn't very crowded. Our daughter went to Trader Joe's and they must have been keeping track of the number of people in the store because people were lined up on the sidewalk and as someone left the store they'd let someone else in. An employee came out and let our daughter in ahead of others because she had 2 little kids with her. What a relief because I'm not sure she would have been able to keep them herded close for long. All in all I think, at least around here, people are being very respectful of others and trying to follow guidelines. And the traffic is very low so that's a welcome benefit to all this.

@Anise . . .

You already got some excellent advice and information from others. I will just add that all most all the Supermart's are providing "Pick-up" service for Free (even instant chart at Publix's/Winn Dixie/Walmart's/Whole Foods) although some have a minimum order of approximately $30 (I suggest to call the store to make sure on the minimum charges, they may still provide the Curbside/Inside Pick-up service Free for a smaller order too) . . . All "You" just have to do is place an order online and at the end as you check out just click either in-store (You go in) or curb-side pickup and they will bring it to your car . . . Getting a Delivery will cost for some though depending on your order . . . AND - As for your medications (or anything else you might NEED from a pharmacy), I know the major chains - like Wallgreens & CVS (BTW: If Ya haven't already - Really good time to get Flu/Phenomena Shot too) and even Local Pharmacies (I use one) - are offering Free delivery (especially for Medications) or pick-up, especially those with a pharmacy drive through and some will provide curbside pick-up were they bring items to you also . . . Remember - You can even order other items and be able to pick them up too . . . Matter of Fact, a lot of stores are getting into the act (Even Dollar Tree/Dollar Stores) . . . Plus, "You" can arrange for someone else to pick-up your order from many of these stores - you just need to tell them who it will be (they need ID) . . . Last, but not the least, many of these stores have set aside hours just for Seniors to shop for themselves, however they are usually when the store first opens (ex: 7-8 AM), which is much better since they have jut "Sanitized" the store and shelves should be fully stock . . .

EDIT: Just got these emails . . .

From AlDI:

"On Tuesdays and Thursdays, ALDI stores will open at 8:30 a.m. and reserve the first hour of business for vulnerable shoppers. This includes senior citizens, expectant mothers and those with underlying health concerns."

From Wallgeens:

FREE SHIPPING
Seniors-only shopping: 8am–9am every Tuesday*

Senior Savings Day | Walgreens

Has additional Saving Codes up to 30% OFF just for Seniors too . . .

From CVS:

From Winn Dixie's:

Southeastern Grocers (SEG) to designate a special shopping hour dedicated to seniors and high-risk customers from 8 – 9 a.m., Monday through Friday, in all stores

Hope this information is useful/helpful . . . ;)

Depending - Not really, they have a Yearly fee, a Monthly Fee and One time fee for Deliveries . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

I can personally attest to Aldi Senior Hours .. the one I frequent was spotlessly clean and most things were stocked when I picked up some cheap $2.95 Aldi Wine .. (which is surprisingly good) as well as some meat .. also, they were out of most meats last week, but this week had a good stock .. Aldi provides some of the best quality hamburger out there, IMO and they had none last week .. I'll add, if you like braunschweiger, Aldi is the go to .. (Germans) ..

I'll add :: I think Aldi's opening hours for Senior / etc shopping are a bit more reasonable than some others ..
