Cathy, reminds me of some things I would like to teach Tippy. The biggest one on the list is that he is very afraid of bicycles. Last week we were walking in the park, and came to a couple with two little children on bicycles. He began barking and lunging, and I pulled the leash short, and explained to the parents. They actually told their kids to get off and let us pass by!!! Yesterday we saw a man with a bunch of bicycles and a dog, and went over to check the dog out. We had a good talk, and I told him that I would be looking for him in the future, for help in desensitizing Tippy of this fear. Suggestions?@Anise , I only did a laugh for your comment that I didn't do any of the tricks! LOL!!! Geordi loves his tricks and I love showing them off. Me? Not so talented... but I did train him to do these tricks (and more), does that count for anything?
As far as your family is concerned, I am optimistic and glad they are doing better. Hoping the improvement continues and they have a full recovery.
I haven't been here in a long time. My coach (Tippy the canine) got me to walk nearly 10000 steps today. I have been busy making masks. Just utilitarian, most of the fabric I have available is in smaller pieces, so the combination of front and lining and casings on the side and continuous loop tie is pretty wild. I am moving towards some attractive combinations, though, really. I sent Debadoo some, thinking of her multi-generation household, and we had a great conversation on the phone last week. Both of my kids are doing fine, and I will be setting up video calls with son next week. I now have a cellphone that links up through Bluetooth with my HA's, and rarely have difficulties on the phone. Got a clock which will link up with doorbell and phone for night-time emergencies-- flashing light and shaking bed should do it.
There are times I have a desire to smoke, but it passes. I shipped all my vape stuff to deserving people here, and through that experience I have learned some de-cluttering skills.
I guess that is about all, but I will have an air conditioner on Tuesday. Rarely needed in this climate, but when it is, it becomes an essential. I guess I am getting soft in my old age. My bread-maker is more important than AC. Just the way I roll.
@mikee I know this desert will not help your waist any but I think @Janet H will love making it. Lol. Janet this recipe is a combination of two. Every time I make it everyone loves it. The crust is the same I posted for the custard pie. I didn’t like the crust that came with this filling.
Lemon cheesecake bars
1 pat-in-pan crust (1½ c + 3 T flour, ½ c oil, 1½ t sugar, 3 T milk)
4 eggs
1 ½ cups white sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
½ cup lemon juice
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
Lightly butter a 9x13-inch baking dish. Press crust into the entire bottom and bake until golden brown, 15 to 18 minutes. Remove from oven, and set aside. Whisk together 4 eggs, 1 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, and lemon juice in a bowl. Pour lemon mixture into the prepared dish. Mix the cream cheese and 1 cup sugar in a bowl until well blended. Whisk in 2 eggs, then spread over the lemon mixture. The mixtures will separate during baking. Bake in a 350 degree oven until the filling is set, about 30 minutes.

I am so loving @Uncle Willie 's videos, I decided to do one myself, with Geordi. A short video for fun - tricks for entertainment! We start by waving hello, then on to some fun stuff, ending with my favorite - his, what I call, scootch and a bow for applause... Hope it brings a smile (he is very dramatic when he plays dead).

Nice to hear from you 3mg. Seems like it's been a long time, too long.
@Janet H ... you didn't misss this I hope.
Some time back, I found a box that contained material I had recorded going back to the '60's .. it was all reel to reel, back in those days multi-track technology was fairly expensive, so you had to work with what you had money wise .. I still keep meaning to work my way through all the stuff, but back, I think on the old Back Porch thread, I did do a little video thing ..
So, I decided to dredge that nugget up .. it's funny to me, because, all those years ago, before age and infirmities began to take their toll, even with the primitive gear I had, I was way better than what I ended up being now, I'd guess I was around 20 when I did this .. it shows it's age, but yeah, it's still me .. what talent I had peaked a few years back, hopefully, I'll get up the energy to work my way through those reel to reels and prove it .. until then ::
I'll leave it with you now, with some real Pros .. the other day I must have played this a dozen times back to back .. it's just one of my all time favorites .. and, if you listen, the lyrics are just so fitting for the Times we live in .. sing along, please .. there is not much of a better song for Today ..
Thank you. I try to carry treats, but run out so quickly. I probably ought to carry more. Yes, we paid lots of attention to the man with the dog, and the bikes were not so scary, because they were not moving. Just a block further on, a family on bikes passed us on the other side of the street, and he paid no attention to them, all i could give him was verbal praise. One handed typing because he is sitting on my lap while we listen to music.Do you carry treats with you on walks? When a bicycle approaches, start giving treats. Move away! Give Tippy distance until he isn't barking any more. Give treats. Desensitizing takes a long time, and patience is critical. Do not approach a bicycle while he is barking and lunging - as you know, it's fear. Move away to give him plenty of space. Sounds like the man with the bicycles can be a big help. Talking to him, you relaxed near the bikes, will help Tippy realize bikes are not scary. You must stay calm, try not to just suddenly choke up on the leash because that signals "Danger Will Robinson!". Talk quietly, try to put yourself between Tippy and the scary thing, and move away as quietly and quickly as possible.
Geordi is not comfortable in crowds or tight spaces. He doesn't bark and lunge, he crumbles and tries to get away as fast as possible. Not an issue right now with stay at home and no dog shows, but when we are at dog shows I look for the "path of least resistance", with fewer people/dogs and tight spaces to contend with. If we do have to go through a crowd we play "ready, ready, GO!" and just power our way through as quickly as possible. When we are through, we party with treats and praise. Do NOT force Tippy to "face his enemy", give him a choice. People ask if they can pet Geordi, I tell them "if he wants you to". If he moves away, I say "Well, not today!". More and more he is letting people pet him because he has a choice.
Granted, there will be times when he just has to "suck it up", but try to make those times as few and far between as possible. Good luck, it's not an easy thing to deal with, especially if it has been the habit for a long time.
Sorry this is so long, but you asked![]()

Oh my.......Grateful for: being able to eat and drink coffee whenever, as opposed to those healthcare workers who have to wait, or even, forego a meal!We all are experiencing the same circumstances. There are some advantages in my life. Because of hearing loss, I am experienced at reducing loneliness. We all have time to get involved in activities we would otherwise neglect. Gratitude that quarantine is less onerous than, say 1918, because of electronic communication. I have a sewing machine and sewing skills, and can help others without risking myself. Gratitude for stimulus check which will pay for air conditioner and increased electricity bill. Gratitude that my children are in safe situations. Gratitude for my canine baby. Gratitude that I have plenty of food, and no worries about getting more. Gratitude for online Masses many places on the internet, and that our bishop has not restricted access to confession. Gratitude that Tippy and I agree that ten hours a day of smooth jazz is good background music for doing whatever we do. Can we list other gratitudes?

What a fantastic idea! Two gals getting together in this time of social distancing. Kaitlin, our daughter, upper left ... Rachel, our DIL, upper right.
Kate said this when she posted it to FB "Social distance coffee date with one of my favorite peeps. It was 4 hours of a good time! it was cold, rainy, and we got a few looks from drivers passing by but it was worth every minute."

From the look of things, my kind of crazy is driving folks away ..![]()
Memories are made of this! WOW! Odd ... I tried to save this one to my youtube library and it popped up a notice .... this option turned off for videos made for kids.
I want to see the VID of you scooting around on your .... pad..............Hola ..
Weeeel .. I'm thinking it's time to hang up the hat and pass the torch .... or, maybe I should get a dog sidekick ..
Kudos to you Cathy .. anyone else out there got the stones to put yourself on the line .. ??
Broke out the knee pads and the foam .... pad yesterday and scooted my way, on the ground, around my planting beds .. I curse the day I went stupid with these things .. the only way to get the Winter debris out is manually or risk blowing out the mulch that's left .. prepping for new, fresh mulch ..
I'm in pretty bad shape today, and the two Aleve's did not seem to do squat .... when the muscles you just have not used in a while get used, you pay the price .. or, at least I do ..

Tell me about it. I went outside on Saturday and did mowing, edging the sidewalks and fence line. I was totally out of it yesterday and couldn't even get comfortable in bed last night. I finally got a couple of hours of sleep in my recliner. I'm better at the moment, however, I haven't moved but to go from my desk to the coffee maker so far. It just might be another 3 cup day.Hola ..
