Good Morning all! :)

I just lost everything I posted by...."Error Posting - Please Hit Back Key" :(

Oh well huh... there is always tomorrow! The learning curve is pretty steep for this old school farmer. ;) (Especially the Videos.) :(

A baby step this time though... Yuh Gotta Luv FLO-RE-DUH! ...about 10 acres give or take, rentals keep me in vaporizer stuffs...(Always wanted the latest vape.)... tropical fish paid the bills from starting about 47 years ago to about 20 years ago when I re-tired and they be friends of mine too! ;)

View attachment 883385 ..

Ohh... I had some (under pond surface) up from 2014 a friend did for me...WAIT... you thought I meant an Aquarium? ...got those too! ;) Swim with the fishes my friends, swim with the fishes... so quiet, so peaceful! :)

Very nice .. :) ..

Wow, I didn't realize you were a tropical fish farmer! So that's how it's done. Pretty impressive. What other types of fish did you have? Years ago when we had our tank our angels probably came from you!!

Yes Janet, about 80 to 85% of all tropical fish come from Florida, U.S.A.. The rest are wild caught and imported. There is a certain satisfaction in knowing everything you raise goes to the enjoyment in someone's home. I believe I already mentioned the aesthetic quality anything living has on the human psyche. Many of mine and farmer friends had their "produce" as it were; adorn large aquariums in dentist and doctors offices were stress levels for patients were quite high. The calming quality has been known to lower high blood pressure also. (All from watching our watery friends swim care free as they were intended too do.)

Okay, different individual species I raised may be too numerous to mention... (It's almost 2am here!) ...right now, but my bread and butter were in numerous varieties of African Cichlids (Originally from Lake Malawi), Numerous varsities of fancy Veil Tailed Angelfish (Seen in video, but originally from S.A.) and my first love Fancy Guppies! (The females are briefly in video.) You'll eventually see most of them in photos and video's in the future! ;)

FYI... Up until the year 2000 keeping fish was 2nd only to photography as a world hobby. :)

Okay, this is some of the same batch from the pond you saw earlier being sorted and counted before bagging for shipment...

I kept both tropical and saltwater tanks for many years. You're so right about the effect on stress not to mention how much my cats loved watching the fish. I liked them all but my most favorite of all were my Oscars. I had a pair in a 100 gallon tank. You know all about their personalities I'm sure but for the rest of the folks here Oscars have quite a personality. They like to rearrange their tanks and throw rocks around and bang on the tank lids. So my tank looked pretty plain to most people. Just gravel, and a few larger rocks and floating fake plants to play with. And a clamped down lid after my female jumped out and by the time we found her she was almost dry and had some fungus destroy her eye sight. From then on I hand fed her. She would come to the top when she heard the lid open, I touched her mouth with the food, she opened it and I popped the food in. They lived for many years and both grew to about 12-13 inches.

I really miss them and would love to keep Oscars again but life has changed. Now it’s orchids…for which I waited 35 years to have a collection.

Afternoon all! :) (..or soon to be.) ;) Okay... enough with the fishes... perhaps a little humors in order this afternoon... most folks even might remember the song from 1971.

This may NOT be to everyone's taste, so if it isn't just please shut it down k?

Prepare to hit that You Tube pause button often... as it's quite rapid fire fast and you might miss sumthin...

Good morning everyone. It's 11:59 so it's still morning for a little bit. I had to go for a blood draw this morning and then came home to do laundry and cleaning. Mike is already out cutting grass. Just another day, but at least the sun is out and it's a little chilly but nice.

I did a big grocery shopping trip yesterday and decided I really dislike it these days. Good grief, can't even get into the store unless an employee says it's ok and, of course, all shoppers must wear masks. The distancing situation is fine, probably because there are no longer any people working so there's no rush on the stores after work and on weekends so that part is nice. But the thing that makes me crazy is the situation at check out. They've hired extra checkers because it takes so long to check out. And if you bring your own bags you have to wait till everything is rung up and paid for before you can walk through and start bagging your stuff. Otherwise the checker bags everything in plastic and plops the bags on top of each other in the cart once you've emptied it all onto the end of the belt. Ma'am, you have to stay behind the yellow line! I suppose it's something I'll have to get used to, or maybe I can just send Mike...

I've only put a couple of the smaller plants out, but they'll be easy enough to bring in if the temps dip too much at night. The big plants will just have to wait. Our local nursery has signs up that we can still get frost up to May 20th in this area. Don't know if our local nurseries will be open to buy plants by then, but I'm anxious to get started with that. The ones I ordered online are still pretty small yet to be planted in the ground. UPS sent me a notice this morning that my veggie plants will be arriving tomorrow and the garden isn't tilled yet. Sigh.

Geeze .. I have not been to the Walmart in at least a month, so, I decided to go this afternoon and pick up the stuff I get that's cheaper, like cereal and such ..

The place looked like a pack of wolves had gone thru it .. the meat section had maybe some pigs feet and some ground turkey .. otherwise, the coolers were bare .. little in the way of lunchmeat, even .. unless you wanted pimento loaf ..

And, sorry, I'm not going to wait till somebody moves their cart before I get past them .. yeah, I know I'm not maintaining the "6 FT" when I do it, but hey, I'm not planning to spend the whole afternoon in the place .. I go in, I get what I need, then, I leave ..

Not a single Human cashier was open, which made me resort to "Self Checkout", which I detest .. then, I stuck my card in and it said "Declined", so, I'm going, hey, man, it's just not your day .. pulled it out, turned it around and stuck it back in and then it worked ..

Do you, by any chance, work with, or supply to "Tanked"
    Love that show.

Indeed they do Bea! :) I raised the... Tiger, Red, Red Tiger, Albino, Red Albino types of all those Oscars! (When raising the brood stock for the Albinos 8" to 10", the egrets (birds) got more than their fare share before harvest time!!) Pesky creatures, but they were just hungry. ;)

    A couple of quick stories...

I trained a 12" Red Tiger Oscar to ring a bell above his tank when he was hungry... every time I walked by the tank I'd hear... {ring - a - ding - ding!}... quite annoying after a few days... found they are ALWAYS hungry!! :glare:

(I swore he was smiling at me as I removed the bell rig!) o_O

Large fish?... yeah, personality may dictate naming them. Case in point I had a customer who named her Oscar "Elvis" not sure why now, but did. He was about 10 years old or so.

One fine day in '87, as I worked in the hatchery... She runs in crying and sez,"ELVIS is dead!" I looked up and said trying to calm her down... "He's been dead way over 10 years now." (I had forgotten she was talking about her Oscar!) She was not amused however. Not one bit. :grr:

I did retail, you pick, farm fresh...saltwater too. (Until my aquaculture extension agent brought back a slide show of his Philippine reef adventure.) Very sad indeed.
