You may have already gone to the nursery, but Mike just mentioned that you could look into planting a boxwood in your planter if it will handle your weather. You could even trim it like an interesting topiary. Hey, you could grow a guitar! While it's small just plant a few flowers around it each Spring and it'll be gorgeous!

Yeah, I went with the evergreen .. arborvitae .. instead of going to a plant nursery, I ended up at Lowes .. there was quite a range of size / price .. I stuck with a mid-range price of $49.95 .. still, pretty good size .. plus, they had other stuff on sale ..

So, the lines at the Garden section were backed up 6 folks deep in all lines .. I decided to go into the store and pay, no lines .. rang up about $100 in total .. they were so short handed, the store manager was running the register .. I showed him my VA ID to get the 10% off .. slid my Lowes card and the machine just kept saying "processing" until it timed out .. tried it again, same thing ..

He says "The Lowes CC system is overloaded .. you'll maybe want to use a different card .. "

I said, "It's a Lowes card and I can't use my Lowes card in a Lowes .. ??"

He says, "I'm a Vet too, if you use a different card, I'll give you more than the 10% off .. "

I pulled out another card, stuck it in the slot, he rings it up and it's $31 clams tax and all ..

He says, "Thanks for your Service .."

I say, "Can I go and get some more stuff and come back .. ??" :eek:

    Just don't know how dh and I would fare if we couldn't go outside and play in the garden.....it has taken up a lot of our time and now we're looking for more things to do out there to keep us busy. A few projects that have been put on the back burner are finally getting done.

    Haven't watched the bird cam in quite awhile! The Decorah eagles webcam was my favorite to watch, but haven't seen that in a while either. I know Yiddle watches/d that one, also.

    Think I'll just put your webcam on one of my tabs, and enjoy!

    Although I have not personally ratcheted up my own Yard activity, it's quite a wonder to behold the folks, especially the younger ones (anyone younger than me is younger) who are out there actually doing some outdoor improvement and/or general maintenance since the lockdown ..

    One of my neighbors and his wife and kids were out doing some planting/mulching, I walked over and asked them how they were doing (keeping Socially Distant, of course) .. now, these folks have 2 kids, a 13 year old son and a 6 year old daughter .. who were also out playing around .. we small talked for a few minutes and I then complimented them on their work .. the wife says "Yeah, between School activities, Cardinal games, weekend trips and what not, we really never got into the yard till now .."

    These are folks that generally mow their yard once every 3 weeks and a dead tree limb will lay in the yard till next year, pre-Pandemic .. and have previously never planted any new thing ..

    Were supposed to be picking up dead limbs? :w00t: Wow! No one told me about that or about mowing more often than every 3 weeks.I just leave the branches to rot and call them mulch.:p

    Didn't intend on stepping on any toes .. ;) .. girl, you just do what you want to do .. :)
