I thought the same thing from Willie's post…how generous. Gary and I always give 30-35% of the tab for excellent service and we have been helping our favorite server in our favorite restaurant even more since this pandemic started. Because servers have it really rough right now. They don’t get much to begin with and depend on the whims of the customers.

We too don’t use CCs at restaurants for the same reasons as you.

Moi .. ?? Now, I'm feeling like a cheapskate .. OK, well, I am a cheapskate .. although, in regard to tips, much is dependent on the scenario, how many I may have tilted back, just how flush I am, the quality of the service and the meal itself, etc .. average service / normal straight brain, average 20% tip / always in cash because I know how the system works .. he / she can just slip the dough into the hip pocket National Bank .. ;)

I've not paid for a meal with anything but cash in at least 40 years .. .. before that, I'd sometimes write a check .. I have no debit card and don't want one .. I just began transitioning to online bill paying maybe a year ago, and mainly because the USPS has become semi-unreliable and jacked the price of stamps as well .. there you go, cheapskate ..

Although, I do prefer to call it Frugality ..

On the flipside, there is another part of me that can, presented with the right circumstances, be just an outright spendthrift ..

It's a conundrum .. o_O

Good morning, all. I have been having problems sleeping the past week. Between my back and sinus's being plugged up I am miserable. I am going to the store in a bit and get one of those nasal wash systems. I saw that Target has them in stock so I won't have to wait for a Prime delivery. I also will need to get some more Afrin nasal spray. It is the only thing that has provided me with a bit of relief.

Thru a variety of Wives and a constant nagging of Planet Shaking snoring complaints, I went thru a period of addiction to Nasal Spray .. yes, I was an addict .. ended up making it worse .. then, the Breathe Right was invented, and I was hooked on those, and, they worked to keep the decibels down to a tolerable level .. I also did not really care if I had one on when I was in public ..

When I quit the 2 pack a day Marlboro Red's and went to the vape, my breathing capability gradually improved, so that now, I use nothing .. later, as I lost some weight, things improved further ..

Did he ever have some time on his hands?!? Very ingenious, but like he said, he underestimated them.. I'm still finding that safflower seed and vaseline on the poles work best on the Brome feeders, although I have been using some sunflower seeds, too. The deer do come in the yard after the cracked corn.....so beautiful, and the wild turkeys pay a visit each morning.

I actually found room to plant 5 more plants in the garden......said I was done, but a gardener at heart is never really done! :)

I won't be around much. We changed our homeowners insurance and they inspected the house and want thousands of dollars worth of work done or we'll lose our house. Aside from not having enough time to do everything I don't have enough money. I'm disabled so I don't know how much work I can do. I'm terrified we'll have to hire someone we can't afford.
I'm sorry I dumped this on y'all but I had to tell someone. I'll try and get online at night when I'm done working. I know this probably doesn't mean much but its devastating to me. Goodnight y'all. I'm exhausted.

I use saline rinse, azelastine and fluticazone for my nose. I have to be aggressive because congestion causes conductive hearing loss, which is generally reversible. My left ear always has some, and my dentist yesterday recommended that all three of my upper teeth should be removed. Under my gold crown in the far back is a tooth root that goes into a sinus. We are interested in finding out whether that is contributing to my loss.

For those not on Facebook, Tippy had his fifth birthday and we celebrated nine months together. He had a good celebration. The haircut was yesterday, photos later.

Whoa, what an interesting thought about your tooth and sinus situation. Does everyone have that? The root I mean. Wonder why we're built that way. Would removing the tooth possibly help with your hearing or just the congestion?

Happy birthday Tippy! Can't wait to see some pictures! It's been awhile.

Good info. I'll have to ask my daughter if she ever heard of Zelle and how she knew about Venmo. It's not like it's advertised - or is it? My cousin needed to reimburse me $18 and asked if I did Venmo. First time I'd heard of it. She said all the millennials are using it. I got the app and now my kids and I can transfer money to each other without the whole check and mailing thing. It helps with going in together on gifts.

Good morning to anyone who is up. Hope you have a lovely day today.

2 days ago the Weather Channel site said our weather was goin to be lovely this weekend. This morning it says 80% chance for T-storms. Looks like it's going to be a soggy Father's Day unless it all changes again in the next 2 days.

Oh my, what a cute little face he has! He reminds me of the first pet I ever got, a Cairn Terrier named Nickey. What a sweet little companion he was! I'm so glad you and Tippy found each other.

That was a riot! Seems like that guy and the squirrels have the same energy levels. Yes, I agree that squirrels are very cute, but they're destructive too. We'd gladly ship some of ours his way!

Oh no! We've had the same homeowners insurance for 40 years so I don't know how it works these days. Is this usual? Can you get a different insurance company? How much time do you have to make all the changes?

Good morning all :)

I have a friend who is a recovering addict and I was reading about the things to do or not to help an addict. Somewhere along my reading I came up with this information. I was familiar with the poem below that apparently is associated with addiction treatment programs but not the rest of the story.

“God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.”

And here is the unabridged Serenity Prayer, written by Reinhold Niebuhr (1892–1971), dean and professor of Applied Christianity at Union Theological Seminary in New York City:

“God, give us grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.”

Lovely sentiments by which we can all live, whether we are religious or not.

And here’s what blooming in the greenhouse

I would call a different company as others have suggested. Good luck to you.

As a recovering alcoholic, the Serenity Prayer has always had special meaning for me and Nancy. If things were extra tough we also used the shortened version - *-it! After 35+ years it is still as appropriate and special today. Thank you for sharing.

I've never personally heard of this Insurance tactic .. can't you go back to the old Company .. ?? Can't they just exclude stuff from coverage .. ?? How would it be possible to actually lose your home over an insurance policy .. ??

Not trying to be nosey, just curious ..

I haven't used the Navage system yet. We got home from shopping and I literally passed out in my recliner for a couple of hours. After my caffeine kicks in I will give it a try. I'm a bit apprehensive about using it, there is just something unnatural about putting water up your nose.

Bed pillow recommendations .. ?? King size .. I sleep on my side, sometimes my stomach .. after Googling around, there are just way to many choices .. a pillow is like a bed, you really don't know about it until you use it .. and that 'My Pillow' that's touted by the 'My Pillow' guy seems like a rip off to me ..

Do you really have to drop $50 bucks these days to get a decent pillow .. ??
