Good morning :)

Our last 3 laptops have been refurbished. You can buy a very good one for much less than new but you need to do your homework and get it from a trusted source.
Refurbished Laptops: Are They Worth It? (& Where to Get Them)

This company is well known in the electronics world. I'm not happy to hear they were recently bought by a Chinese company.
refurbished hp laptop, Laptops / Notebooks, Laptops / Notebooks, Computer Systems - Newegg.com

Why - Thank you for the suggest and leads . . . I absolutely agree about getting a refurbished model, instead of paying full price . . . Matter of fact, I got this one from Dell 16+ years ago - originally cost approximately 4k+ that was made for gamer (besides the usual stuff it had 6 USB ports & SD & HDTV slot - came with 2 extra batteries and 3 different power cords including an inverter Too) however I got it for only $1k. And - Dell Outlet has made it very hard now - well at least for me, to narrow down which one would be Good enough to get at a reasonable price . . . Very frustrating . . . :-x

Happy Thursday, lizards.

Had an unexpected visitor, yesterday. A big yellow thing showed up, way up in the air. Thought it must have been a UFO, but id didn't move like one...

Sounds like me before coffee . . .

At least you have the data backed. Starting to sound like some chip on the MOBO is overheating. Age (and the usual build-up of internal dust) are finally catching up.

Best buy and, I think, Office Depot, also have refurbs, but, hopefully, outlets will be having July 4 sales soon. :nun:

Actually - I hear Ya about "before coffee" - that is the only reason the laptop didn't go out the window . . .

Got that right . . . A Very Special "Mensch" helped me out and saved "Me" big time . . .:thumbs:

YES - A sale or even open box, especially at one of the outlets would be great . . .:thumbs::thumbs:

Actually, got a suggest for 2 different laptops and looking at Best Buys outlet today . . . ;)

Hola .. :)

Dan .. the best deal today on a new, well rated laptop linked below .. best deal of the day changes, er, about daily .. 90 day bring it back Walmart guarantee, order online, pick up at Walmart ..

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lenovo-i...10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=497938228&veh=sem

THANK YOU . . .

 WOW ! ! ! It always amazes me how much great thinker - think a like . . .:thumb:

And it is quite funny too . . . When the harddrive was being worked on, Office Depot had the same one for sale, got an extra discount too . . . However, it went back a week latter - NO OPTICAL DRIVE . . . Huge Deal Breaker . . . Also found out most laptops do not have optical drives any longer since all the yougin's download programs and pay a yearly fee to do so . . . NOT HAPPENING ! ! ! Just Sayin' . . .

OK - It took an hour and a half to 2 hours later to type this post on the tablet . . . NOT NICE . . . :(

Yeah, but I will say the inclusion of an SSD hard drive is good, it will substantially speed up your boot time and will out last a regular / spinning hard drive by far .. my SSD laptop boots to WIN 10 in under 10 seconds ..

The optical drives do seem to be going by the wayside, however, consider an external optical that powers from a USB port with no extra power cord is worthwhile and can be had on the cheap ..

Yep, very reasonable prices and a possibility. Matter fact, I had one quite some time ago when a cd/dvd drive died. But then again it means another piece of equipment that I really don't want to HAVE to get, or NEED to carry around especially when I want to take the laptop on the road and/ or watch a DVD during a hurricane. Either way - THANKS for the suggestion and going out of your way to find them . . . :D

BTW: Posting from a "Smart" Phone is a huge PIA . . . Just Sayin' . . .

I've never personally heard of this Insurance tactic .. can't you go back to the old Company .. ?? Can't they just exclude stuff from coverage .. ?? How would it be possible to actually lose your home over an insurance policy .. ??

Not trying to be nosey, just curious ..
If we don't have homeowners insurance the mortgage company will drop us. No mortgage- no house. They won't exclude anything. I called 12 insurance companies yesterday. I hate insurance companies. I'm not sure about the old company. I'll call them tomorrow.

Good morning to anyone who is up. Hope you have a lovely day today.

2 days ago the Weather Channel site said our weather was goin to be lovely this weekend. This morning it says 80% chance for T-storms. Looks like it's going to be a soggy Father's Day unless it all changes again in the next 2 days.

Oh my, what a cute little face he has! He reminds me of the first pet I ever got, a Cairn Terrier named Nickey. What a sweet little companion he was! I'm so glad you and Tippy found each other.

That was a riot! Seems like that guy and the squirrels have the same energy levels. Yes, I agree that squirrels are very cute, but they're destructive too. We'd gladly ship some of ours his way!

Oh no! We've had the same homeowners insurance for 40 years so I don't know how it works these days. Is this usual? Can you get a different insurance company? How much time do you have to make all the changes?
They already switched us. They never told me they'd inspect the property and drop me if it needs repairs. I hate insurance agents.

Morning, misfits.

Going to be, for us, a scorcher, low 80s and humid... but rain coming back for the weekend.

Has anyone watched the Wire? We just finished Season 1. Quite an eye opener. But Homeland and Criminal Minds are still favorites.

    Sad when CM ended.

Watching Queen of the South.......if you don’t mind drugs.

    One of my favorite shows.

    Hola .. :)

My old (8 years) beater PC that I use everyday like an old, reliable vehicle, did the auto WIN 10 update yesterday .. I have to admit that the new Edge browser is noticeably faster than the old Edge .. it did mess with a few things that were visible, such as the Favorites bar, and, who knows what it messed with you can't see .. but, all in all, so far so good .. I'll probably go through it and check things ..

Hittin' the low 90's today, supposed to be hotter tomorrow .. rain has been non existent lately, so the yard is beginning to enter dormancy already .. usually, June is a solid rain month .. but, Weather wise, you just can't count on anything, anymore ..

    .
WIN update appropriated my Chrome browser. It was the only Google product I have been using. Even the G-mail account is a backup account that I rarely visit. So far, the new Edge is working OK, and my elderly brain has not had to adjust to any significant differences. I was having multiple problems with incompatibility, but transferring the password catalog, etc, would have been unwieldy.

I'm fairly certain that the new Edge is based on Chrome .. go figure ..
