Meet Me in St Louie Louie
Hola .. :)

Yesterday, since the yard is semi-dormant these days from lack of rain, I just did a quick skim to knock off the clover flowers that seem to grow whether it's hot or not .. then, changed the main filter for my ice cube maker .. (yes, the fridge has one too) .. at any rate, the filter is located under a drop ceiling in my Basement, and I had to access the needle valve the tubing is connected to in order to shut off the fridge water first .. the durn valve broke on me, so I ended up turning off the whole house water and going to Lowes for a new valve .. it became a real hassle, real fast .. changed the under sink water filter later, it went smooth ..

Ordered takeout from Chili's for dinner .. Texas dry rub pork ribs, loaded mashed potatoes and Mexican rice .. tipped back a couple homemade margaritas and watched 'Ford VS Ferrari' on HBO GO .. just a great car movie, two thumbs up ..

Today, after piddling around in the work shop for a while and banking a few shekels, I went to my Barber of 30+ years, still not opened .. my hair was getting to the point of needing to be blow dried or using a hair iron to straighten it .. had not had a haircut since pre-Pandemic .. ended up going to a chain, Great Clips .. got right in the chair .. the girl was not very talkative, I had to wear a stupid mask, so did she .. I showed her a phone photo of what the hair looked like after a haircut and dished out a description as well ..

I admit I was fairly nervous .. but, the good news was, she was using scissors and seemed to know what she was doing .. the hair rained down ..

While I can't say she nailed it, she did pretty good and got it close .. told me I could request her if I came back in the future .. I hate to break in another Barber, but, what are you gonna do .. ??

"How old are you, sir .. ?? OK, you qualify for the Senior Discount, that will be $12.00 .."

I laid a crisp $20 on the counter and told her to keep the change ..

Winning .. :D

(on a side note, she did not disinfect the $20, just promptly rang it up, made the change and popped the $8 bucks it into the Hip Pocket National Bank ..) :p

Good points, I was tempted to stand on my head and use canned air.

I did not watch the NASCAR race yesterday and also avoided any news on it. I didn't want to know the outcome. I sat down today to watch the race and found out it was rained out. However, I am so ...... off right now it isn't funny. Some low-life SOB put a noose in Bubba Wallace's pit garage! Bubba is the only black driver in the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The drivers and pit crews gathered at their cars and pushed Bubba's car to the front of the queue and stood behind him during the playing of the National Anthem. The gesture brought tears to Bubba's eyes and I am sure he was not alone. I just had to share what occurred. If this is considered political let me know and I will take it down and give myself a 7-day self-imposed ban.

Well, Jerry, if that's political, I suppose I should just be banned for life .. you've just got this underlying Band of Racists these days that feel they have been empowered by the Head Cheese ..

"The place was packed, I tell you .. the Fake News people Photo Shopped those attendees out, that's all there is to it .. Virus, what Virus .. ?? .."

Good Afternoon, all. I have held off giving my opinion on the Navage Nasal Care system. I'm not impressed so far. The use of the system with their SaltPods reminds me of when I was going through dive training in the Navy, nasty nasty taste. An example is this morning, I woke at 4:30 and my sinuses were 100% blocked. I was not able to open them up! The machine was not able to break the congestion regardless of how I switched the nose system. I wound up finally getting some relief with a Theraflu and Afrin after a half-hour. Other times I have used it, I had the mixture running down my shirt or just not getting anything cleared out. Another time I wound up with a bloody nose. That coupled with the SaltPod burned like all holy hades. Needless to say, I am not happy with my experience using the Navage Nasal Care Nose Cleanser.
I hope everyone is having a great day.

Ugh! That sounds terrible! Is it a matter of using it before you get so backed up? Has your doc been able to make any suggestions? I've only used Afrin during 1 head cold and it worked almost immediately, but I don't think I was as clogged as you.

I decided that my nasal wash bottle gave me a sinus infection. Quit using it for several days, and the infection stopped. This time I bought a ceramic neti-pot. Why buy a plastic squeeze bottle when you can have the real thing?

Interesting difference in experiences. I have chronic sinusitis (allergic to my darn cat). I pull out the Mcneil plastic bottle, distilled water and put in a packet when I want/need to do complete clearing. Sometimes I use Arm & Hammer Nasal Mist (no extras, just the saline solution version) to help open my nasal passages, it provides some relief but the Mcneil does a more thorough job. Since these two work for me when I need them, I haven't explored neti pots or other alternatives. I don't use either on a regular basis. My daily regimen includes flonase, claritin, and an inhaler. It's just times like high pollen count (an added aggravation) or when we first had to stay at home for COVID and my allergies flared or I'm behind on house cleaning (no hiding from the allergies to dust either), that I use one or the other.

    Good morning!

Another cool morning here this morning!

Later on today we will be babysitting the grands while Mommy and Daddy work on their computers upstairs. Son has a new assignment and dil continues to work with the deaf and blind online!

Our 13 year old is capable of sitting for them, but she needs her own time, too, so enter Nana & Pop-pop! :)

Good morning Gracie. Looks like it's going to be another scorcher here today. I've got errands to run, but need to get a few tomato plants tied up first so I'd better get to the garden before the heat builds.

Now that our grands are no longer infants the babysitting is more like corralling the herd! The youngest is 1-1/2 and for the first time is able to run around with the older kids when they get together. He is beside himself with joy! It's wonderful to watch.

    Morning, loungers.

Only mid-80s here, today, with, of course, our usual high humidity. They claim the temp will back off tomorrow, and we all know how accurate they are.

So, other than watering the gardens,

    Hola .. :)

I really never know if anyone remembers events that those of us have posted in the past .. I'd like to think so, I know that I do ..

I'd gone thru a whole thing regarding my undiscovered past from when I was born up to about age 4, my discoveries on Ancestry.com DNA, etc, my long lost relatives, etc ..

Due to the Pandemic, I had had to postpone my planned trip to Myrtle Beach to visit what is likely my closest living blood relative, my Aunt Anita, who is quite old .. I've stayed in touch with her VIA phone, although she won't, or can't, participate in any video talk .. like I said, she, other than her kids, my cousins, are the closest I have left, (although my biological Father did have 3 daughters and another son from 2 different wives, making them my half-siblings .. I've emailed one half sister somewhat, thru the use of Google Translate, however, we are all separated by both language and distance) ..

So, Anita is quite precious to me and I'm hoping that, come early Fall, I'll get to Myrtle Beach and be face to face .. she helped take care of me when I was small and lived in their Family Home ..

I spent an hour with her on the phone this AM, over coffee ..

I'll never forget the discussion she and I had a while back .. a couple of her sons had quizzed her on "How is it you can talk to Willie so much on the phone .. ?? We don't understand how a lifetime could have gone by, yet you're still somehow connected .."

Her reply was :: "Don't worry about it .. Willie gets to learn about all the things he missed over all those years and I get to remember those long ago days and my Family .."

I was sad when you had to cancel your trip to meet your Aunt Anita. I hope it can be worked out in the fall.
