I was sad when you had to cancel your trip to meet your Aunt Anita. I hope it can be worked out in the fall.

Thanks, Frannie .. she and I don't really want to rush things with the Pandemic still on, her age, etc .. but, you can bet, it will happen .. :)

BTW, Frannie .. how are you rating 2020 as compared to 2019 these days .. ??
That’s a hard one. I lost hubby, my best friend and my 17 year old kitty in 2019. I was hoping for a better year in 2020. Hasn’t happened.

Good morning. Should be a couple degrees cooler today, but aside from a pop-up summer shower it doesn't look like we're going to get any rain for the next week. We had a lot of thunder last night while ominous black clouds passed over, but doesn't look like we got any rain so it looks like I'll be doing some watering today.

Thanks, Frannie .. she and I don't really want to rush things with the Pandemic still on, her age, etc .. but, you can bet, it will happen .. :)

I surely hope so. Maybe pick a tentative date to make sure it happens. The germs will always be out there so there's always going to be a fear of catching something. I hate the thought of you never getting the chance to visit with her even if it means sitting 6 feet apart.

    It's a start!

Looks like we'll be back in "normal" temps for a bit, maybe some rain by the weekend.

Maybe something like this would work, Willy? :D

    Hola .. :)

I believe things are still quite unstable as far as the Pandemic goes .. in fact, I don't know if they are any better than they were when the shut-downs took place ..

I'd planned on making it a road trip, which is likely a 2 day affair for me as I don't have the behind the wheel stamina any longer to do it in one shot .. stopping for gas, food and a night in a hotel simply increases my probability for virus contact ..

I am hoping for mid to late September for things to be on a more even keel .. at her age, I personally just can't see risking it until I am comfortable with the scenario ..

Anita says "BS, Willie, just get your .... out here .. I'm not going to live forever anyway .. "

Your aunt is right and I think meeting with you is just as important to her as it is to you. Disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer for the hotel. Masks for gas and any other time you will be close to others. You will be fine. Yes, I did spend a night in a motel about 3 weeks ago. Wiped everything down and used hand sanitizer. Don't over-worry, Willie...You'll never get there.

    Good morning. :)
Yesterday we had some of our screens replaced on the lanai by the same guy who we contracted 2 years ago. We have a few more to do, but we can wait until next Spring since they are stable. It's such a pleasure to have found a reliable guy who is reasonable and efficient and knows his job.

In a little while, we'll be headed to Sam's Club. It'll be interesting to see how that goes. No dilly dalling, just the things on the list, and out we go.

@Uncle Willie I agree with the others. Take sanitizing wipes and wipe down surfaces, and enjoy your visit with your Aunt Anita. Honor the 6 ft rule!
I am very careful, cause I'm at an age.... (probably much older than anyone here) but I've not let my guard down in public. I have relaxed some of the home sanitizing so as not to weaken my immune system!

Well, we made it back within 2 hours.....got mostly staples, but couldn't resist the butter sandwich croissants. The man and I promptly had one and they are to live for........and they are quite large, so a dozen for $4.98 seemed like a decent price.

Employees and about 98% of the folks wore masks, and I was about to give someone the 'Gracie Look' for not having one on, and I thought better of it.....who am I to judge why and they may have had a legitimate reason for not having one.....I tell ya, though, I did have to fight the urge! :)

Well, at least their bakery goods are still reasonable .. I was in the Kroger the other day (with mask) and a pack of 4 blueberry muffins was $5.98 .. the same muffins that were $2.98 just a month ago .. I guess blueberry muffin mix is going up ..

As well as the price of gas at the pump ..

I don't like the masks .. yet I abide .. when I got a haircut the other day, it just felt plain out weird ..

Our masks came off the minute we reached our car. I will wear it in public (stores, etc.,) but not when we go to the park or the beach and I happen to agree that leaving it on too long is harmful. I see some folks driving with them on. Not good!
I guess I was feeling a bit resentful when I was tempted to give 'the look' at that person this morning. Figured that if I have to wear this contraption out of respect for others, then so should you.

Honestly, I don't get why anyone would wear one in the car .. o_O

Hello all, I too just returned from a small trip for some vittles for us and for my little pup. I was a bit surprised at the number of people who either didn't have a mask on or had it on wrong, i.e., over the mouth and under the nose.
I finally got a decent night's sleep. I only got up once due to the nose being totally blocked. After about 20 minutes I was able to go back to bed and slept for another couple of hours.
A happy note on the Bubba Wallace ordeal, it appears that it wasn't a noose aimed at him. One of the teams that used that garage last year had tied the rope for the garage door up and out of the way because it was too long. There were photos of the area from last year showing the shortened rope. The FBI closed their investigation determining there was no malicious intent.
I want to share something that happened last week when Syndee and I went to target for a spot of shopping. As we were entering the store and I saw an employee that was spraying and wiping down the carts. I went over to him and got his attention, I maintained the social distance. He looked over at me and gave me a look that said, "Oh Gawd, what now?" I looked at him and told him that I appreciated what he was doing cleaning the carts and wished him a good day. His eyes got big and a smile came upon his face. He thanked me and his attitude totally changed. A little gesture of thanks and his whole day seemed to improve. He returned to cleaning the carts and I could almost hear him humming a tune with a smile a mile wide.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Edit: While I was at Sam's they had 1-gallon gel refills of hand sanitizer. Now I can fill up all of the small bottles that I have in the house and cars.

Well, maybe they had the windows down? ;)

I'll pull mine down once we're out of the store and distance is achieved. Although I'd rather see someone wearing one while driving than NOT wearing one while shopping!

And too many times I've seen folk with the nostrils not covered. Uh, how does that work??

who am I to judge why and they may have had a legitimate reason for not having one.....

YEP - COPD, Asthma, etc. . . . Thankfully, reg's here, do not require face mask for children under a certain age and people with breathing problems - like myself (I bring a copy with me to store, etc just in case I am confronted) . . . AND - Although I have "Friend" (that knows who they are) sent me 2 GREAT & Beautiful Home Made Mask that I can actually breath with (nose piece stands out & away from nose) . . . In grocery stores I usually use a Face Shield, that's attached to clear plastic glasses, most of the time, especially when I know I will be in any store for over an hour . . . Don't get any grief . . . BTW: Can also be used with face mask too . . .

    U9knbHn.jpg

    4 blueberry muffins was $5.98

    * COUGH * COUGH * . . . Aldi $2.89 - they also have Cholate chip (Blaa :nah: ) and Mini Muffins (12 to a pack) - Lemon Poppies Seed is my favorite . . . * COUGH * COUGH *

I see some folks driving with them on. Not good!

YEP - Don't understand it, unless there is someone else in the vehicle . . . AND - Even then . . . Anyway, Thankfully, I am not one of them . . . Kinda difficult to vape while driving with a face mask on - Don't Ya' Think . . . Just Sayin' . . .

Masks!! I have no problem giving "the look" to those who come too near without one. The realtors started scheduling showings before lockdown was even lifted here..there have been six so far this month. I have to run around wiping down everything they may have touched after they leave, and the three people who showed up here about a half hour ago arrived without masks on. I waved my mask at them before I would open the door. The woman in the trio said she had one but didn't like to wear it when it was hot! I told her I'm old and at high risk and I didn't open the door until they had all put them on...
