Our masks came off the minute we reached our car. I will wear it in public (stores, etc.,) but not when we go to the park or the beach and I happen to agree that leaving it on too long is harmful. I see some folks driving with them on. Not good!
I guess I was feeling a bit resentful when I was tempted to give 'the look' at that person this morning. Figured that if I have to wear this contraption out of respect for others, then so should you.

I just give people a wide berth if they don't have a mask because I don't know why they're not wearing one. Who knows, maybe they just were tested negative. So far, at least in our area, I can't remember seeing someone without a mask so that's a good thing, but several just had the mask over their mouth. Our governor just said everyone out in public must wear a mask, but some of the masks can't possibly be very effective.

Hello all, I too just returned from a small trip for some vittles for us and for my little pup. I was a bit surprised at the number of people who either didn't have a mask on or had it on wrong, i.e., over the mouth and under the nose.
I finally got a decent night's sleep. I only got up once due to the nose being totally blocked. After about 20 minutes I was able to go back to bed and slept for another couple of hours.
A happy note on the Bubba Wallace ordeal, it appears that it wasn't a noose aimed at him. One of the teams that used that garage last year had tied the rope for the garage door up and out of the way because it was too long. There were photos of the area from last year showing the shortened rope. The FBI closed their investigation determining there was no malicious intent.
I want to share something that happened last week when Syndee and I went to target for a spot of shopping. As we were entering the store and I saw an employee that was spraying and wiping down the carts. I went over to him and got his attention, I maintained the social distance. He looked over at me and gave me a look that said, "Oh Gawd, what now?" I looked at him and told him that I appreciated what he was doing cleaning the carts and wished him a good day. His eyes got big and a smile came upon his face. He thanked me and his attitude totally changed. A little gesture of thanks and his whole day seemed to improve. He returned to cleaning the carts and I could almost hear him humming a tune with a smile a mile wide.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Edit: While I was at Sam's they had 1-gallon gel refills of hand sanitizer. Now I can fill up all of the small bottles that I have in the house and cars.

How nice of you to be kind and appreciative to a guy who was doing a boring, but important job. It takes so little effort and usually makes a huge difference.

Please don't leave your hand sanitizer in your car! I left mine in the console once and came out to find that little bottle all bulged out and ready to burst. Recently they've had warnings about them possibly exploding from being in a hot car, I guess due to the alcohol content. Oh, and along those lines, don't leave your glasses hanging from the rearview mirror either. The sun shining through those lenses really can start a fire! It happened to us. We were just lucky we returned to the car at just the right moment because the console was smoking!

Good morning. It's a beautiful sunny day outside, but it's going up to 85.

Glad I watered yesterday. After dinner yesterday the black clouds rolled in and we could hear the thunder, but we only got about 4 drops of rain. Then, toward the east appeared the most beautiful rainbow! Vivid colors stretching into a huge arc with the 2nd arch barely visible above it. We took pictures, but they never turn out so well. No rain is predicted for today so I'll probably water again tonight.

Masks!! I have no problem giving "the look" to those who come too near without one. The realtors started scheduling showings before lockdown was even lifted here..there have been six so far this month. I have to run around wiping down everything they may have touched after they leave, and the three people who showed up here about a half hour ago arrived without masks on. I waved my mask at them before I would open the door. The woman in the trio said she had one but didn't like to wear it when it was hot! I told her I'm old and at high risk and I didn't open the door until they had all put them on...
    Good for you.

Darn. Was hoping that they'd ship them out. But yes, Independence sales should be coming along soon. :nun: And it may be that one with the specs and price you want will be without DVD, so an external / USB one may be needed. Those are pretty cheap these days, but of course not as convenient as built in.

What a nice gesture can accomplish when things are so tense! Kudos to you for extending yourself! :)

Well, maybe they had the windows down? ;)

I'll pull mine down once we're out of the store and distance is achieved. Although I'd rather see someone wearing one while driving than NOT wearing one while shopping!

And too many times I've seen folk with the nostrils not covered. Uh, how does that work??
LOL I know.........they are defeating the very purpose for which it was intended!

YEP - COPD, Asthma, etc. . . . Thankfully, reg's here, do not require face mask for children under a certain age and people with breathing problems - like myself (I bring a copy with me to store, etc just in case I am confronted) . . . AND - Although I have "Friend" (that knows who they are) sent me 2 GREAT & Beautiful Home Made Mask that I can actually breath with (nose piece stands out & away from nose) . . . In grocery stores I usually use a Face Shield, that's attached to clear plastic glasses, most of the time, especially when I know I will be in any store for over an hour . . . Don't get any grief . . . BTW: Can also be used with face mask too . . .

    U9knbHn.jpg

    * COUGH * COUGH * . . . Aldi $2.89 - they also have Cholate chip (Blaa :nah: ) and Mini Muffins (12 to a pack) - Lemon Poppies Seed is my favorite . . . * COUGH * COUGH *

YEP - Don't understand it, unless there is someone else in the vehicle . . . AND - Even then . . . Anyway, Thankfully, I am not one of them . . . Kinda difficult to Vape while driving with a face mask on - Don't Ya' Think . . . Just Sayin' . . .
Of course.....I'm glad I did change my mind cause there have to be many more folks like yourself who have a very legitimate reason for not wearing one......but, look how you are protecting yourself and others with that shield......if I wore a hat, I'd take it off for you!

To mask or not to mask, that is the question ..

If you discount the STL Metro area, I'm about smack dab in the middle of the Land of the Red .. the mask has become, sadly, another dividing line between the Red and the Blue folks .. me, I'm a Purple folk, and I always err on the side of caution ..

No, I don't like masking up, but it's about become a Political Statement 'round here .. which is just another excuse to differ with our Fellow Humans ..

Fact is, folks that abide and wear a mask, are really the ones that are doing the non-maskers a favor ..

I remember an old original Trek episode when a planetary race were black and white on one side, and the other part of the population was white and black on the opposite side ..

Sometimes, I think we've devolved into a Society where people are just looking for anything to disagree on .. it's like a pack of kids ..

I tried to find a link to a news report that I only paid half attention to.. they went to supermarkets in different parts of the country and counted what % of the people wore masks. Not too surprising to me, MA was the only one at 100%, some were not bad, others were down to a ridiculously low % (IMHO). You can guess the % by region based on the increases. MA is slowly moving in the right direction.

There are some people who can't wear a mask, I understand that. I have trigeminal neuralgia and for some, a simple touch to their face can cause fireworks of pain. I'm lucky that mine is controlled with medication, but others in this 1% club aren't so fortunate. I can't judge an individual, but when I see so many without them, I admit to being angry and frustrated. It's not that hard, not that much of an imposition and given the way it spreads, every little bit helps. Some where in my lifetime, it went from 'we' to the 'me' values and I find that very sad.

    Good morning. :)
Yesterday we had some of our screens replaced on the lanai by the same guy who we contracted 2 years ago. We have a few more to do, but we can wait until next Spring since they are stable. It's such a pleasure to have found a reliable guy who is reasonable and efficient and knows his job.

In a little while, we'll be headed to Sam's Club. It'll be interesting to see how that goes. No dilly dalling, just the things on the list, and out we go.

@Uncle Willie I agree with the others. Take sanitizing wipes and wipe down surfaces, and enjoy your visit with your Aunt Anita. Honor the 6 ft rule!
I am very careful, cause I'm at an age.... (probably much older than anyone here) but I've not let my guard down in public. I have relaxed some of the home sanitizing so as not to weaken my immune system!

Age is only a number my friend!!!

You have more energy and pizzazz than people 20 yrs. or more younger!!! You and Peter both!!

Now, please bear in mind that this isn't a critigue, but, with my breathing issues, most times I have to leave my nose uncovered...but...I breathe thru my mouth at those times. Oh...and plus, the masks fog up my glasses. I've purchased about four different types of masks to be able to wear them and also be able to breath somewhat comfortably.

    50 years ago today.

We must be getting old ... to celebrate we're going shopping for a new exterior front door. Well, maybe not that old ... we do have reservations for an early dinner late this afternoon. She's put up with a lot from me and I'm so grateful and lucky she's still with me ... my strength and best friend all these years.

Good morning Kay. Finally we're getting some rain this morning! I thought we were going to have to carry buckets of water up to the end of the driveway to water 2 Rose of Sharon bushes. It's looked like rain every day the past several days and the rain never came so this is really welcome - as long as it doesn't turn into a deluge. Then it needs to clear out because tomorrow the kids are coming over for a swim day.

I just read an article recently about wearing a face mask too long and getting carbon dioxide poisoning. It's not a myth that some people feel like they can't breathe with the mask on.

I did discover something that helped keep glasses from fogging up too badly. Pinch the nose piece close to your nose and put your glasses on so the bottom of the glasses rest on the face mask. It keeps your moist breath from exiting up toward the glasses. Hopefully your breath can easily escape out the sides or bottom.

One benefit to wearing a face mask while shopping is that I can't wait to get out of the store!

We have a Wegman's grocery store close to us that we shop at. They have a new system where you put your bags in the cart and scan each item as you shop and pack the bag yourself. When you're done shopping you just go to the self check out, scan the running total on your phone and pay. No unloading items onto the belt and then bagging which means no squished bread and tomatoes! That way I get to use my reusable bags which are a lot more convenient than the plastic bags. Hmmm, may be the new way for future shopping. I'll be trying it out the next time I go grocery shopping.

What???? 50 years! Its been a long strange trip especially looking back at then and now. Poof! Did all those years really happen? We've become our parents!! Actually, we don't know many people who have reached this milestone. I say we try for another 50!
