Good morning, all. It appears I'm the first in the room. I got about half of the yard done yesterday and will finish up today. Not long ago I changed car insurance and received a refund check from the old policy, yea me. I took the check to the bank to cash and wouldn't ya know it when I peeled the check off of the sheet of paper, I tore off the numbers from the bottom of the check. Now all I have to do is contact my agent and have a new check issued. I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning Diver.

Mike and I had Humana which was fine unless you have to send in any receipts for reimbursement. It took a few months to finally get a check, but it got mixed up in our insurance paper work and I didn't find it for almost 2 months. The bank wouldn't cash a stale check so we called for a replacement and was told it would take 60 days! 6 months later we finally got the check. It took a year and hours spent on the phone to finally get the rest of the reimbursements. No wonder 2 of his docs refuse to take that insurance. One doc told him flat out that Humana was the worst.

th

HAPPY BELATED ANNIVERSARY Mike n Janet!!!!

I just read your post...now I need a nap...

Thank you! Yep, it was an intense day, but the kids did all the cooking and cleaning up. We just observed the vortex of pure energy and tried to stay out of the way. We actually even got in the pool for a bit. They would have liked to have a big party, but Covid squelched that. This was better I think because it's been such a joy watching the little ones grow and change and we're so blessed to have them in each others lives.

This getting old is for the birds. Definitely not for the weak-willed.
I'm outside and going to try and finish the yard work that I started yesterday. I've also pulled out my sprayer and Roundup to kill the grass in my rock garden and various cracks and crannies. I hope I have the energy to finish all of it. I'm a bit late but I also need to get the Home Defense and spray the inside and outside for all of the creepy crawlers. I hope that everyone has a wonderful day.
@Janet H, it was so good to hear your party went well. It brought a smile to my face reading what you shared.

Hola .. :)

Heavy rain / thunder and lightning for a good long time starting around 4 AM .. had to get up and hit the bathroom, so I decided to stay up a while and watch it .. Natures Display ..

Excellent ..

Some of the usual places that have a 4th of July Fireworks display have called them off, yet still a goodly number are going forward, with the usual un-enforceable Rules of the Road in place .. I don't know how it is where you are at, but around here, about every Township / City has a 4th shindig of some sort with fireworks ..

There are a few spots up on top of some of the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi that give you a panoramic view for miles on a clear night .. I may just decide to park and take a lawn chair and a cooler .. because, I'm just still not comfortable with mingling in a crowd of folks that throw caution to the wind ..

I’ve always thought a road trip of the country would be fun but only if you had all the time you needed in order to not rush. Wanna go? I’ll bring the wipes.

    Monin' Peeps . . . :D

Weather still the same here for the past few weeks - matching or breaking heat records during the day and over night too (was 81* still at 6AM this morning) . . . As for the feel "like" temps - over 100 every day, with the threat of rain/thunderstorms too.

In addition with the rise of Covid-19 cases, this weekend - Friday thru Monday - every beach is being closed from Key West up to Palm Beach. . . Any major Fireworks displays and shows have been cancelled, however they plan to have smaller separate little displays in unknown areas so people can watch them at home . . . Let's just say, I can't wait to see where these displays actually take place . . .

BTW: Use to go to every fireworks display no matter where I lived - small town/big town - country/city, especially the big shows - NYC Macy's July 4th Celebration every year when I lived there, including the Bi-centennial / Philadelphia Art Museum Display from Love Park (best seat in the "House" - less crowded and could still hear the music from guest artist ;) ) . . . However, this year, "My" plans are going to be the same they have been for the past few years - either a good movie or the Macy's July 4th Fireworks on TV . . . :headbang:

    Just Sayin' . . .

Good morning. Doesn't look like we're going to be getting any rain for the next few days unless we have a pop-up T-storm. They've been moving through here, but don't stay long enough to release their rain.

Mike gets his hair cut today!! I'm so jealous! That's ok, I get my turn tomorrow. I usually go every 4 weeks and it's been 5 months. My hair style is not one that grows in well.

Looks like the crew is coming here on Friday to celebrate the 4th (I know, it's really the 3rd). Kids don't care about the date as long as they can play in the pool. We're just having burgers and dogs and deviled eggs though - I think. No point in having enough food to feed the neighborhood! It's a lot less hectic!

    Good morning everyone! :)

We're almost finished doing everything the insurance company requires. They're coming to cut the branches later and finish the shed roof. Meanwhile another group is cleaning up the debris and cutting down trash trees. I'll finally have a backyard again!

    Hola .. :)

Bea :: just as an FYI, I picked up that Greg Iles trilogy you recommended, 'Natchez Burning', etc .. at the used book store in paperback for $4.00 each .. some thick books .. in fact, I don't know if I've read books that thick since 'Game of Thrones' and the 'Outlander' series .. Sears Catalog ..

At any rate, I started on 'Natchez Burning' last night and was hooked within the first few pages .. Iles has a very lyrical, smooth pacing .. and, he sure as hell knows how to get a readers attention very, very quickly ..

I had just finished 'The Clifton Chronicles' series of 7 books which was just plain an out and out excellent read .. I could hardly put them down ..

Last night, I was browsing around HULU and hit on the Padma Lakshmi series, “Taste the Nation” .. watched the first 2, 30 minute episodes .. if you enjoy an occasional food show, this one is certainly worth a try .. very well done .. two thumbs up ..
