Good morning. Geez this hot sun sure dries out the deck plants quick! Gotta get out there shortly and give them a drink.

Our son texted me last night. He'd just seen the ISS go by. There's a chart of when it's scheduled to pass by and almost real time pictures of what you can see from ISS. Pretty cool. Check out this site:

Hola .. :)

Yep, so true .. especially those in clay pots .. I always put a layer of colored mulch on top of the dirt, it seems to slow the drying out some ..

Heatwave a comin' ..

I watched 'A Bridge Too Far', the 1977 epic film last night on Netflix .. the Picture Quality was simply outstanding, not to mention a Cast that consists of many of the big names of the day .. I don't know, but assume, this presentation was a restoration, if so, it was lovingly done ..

I remember when it came out and seeing it at a theater .. Dirk Bogarde, James Caan, Michael Caine, Sean Connery, Edward Fox, Elliott Gould, Gene Hackman, Anthony Hopkins, Hardy Krüger, Laurence Olivier, Ryan O'Neal, Robert Redford, Maximilian Schell .. and, if you pay attention, Colin Farrell ..

Highly recommended if you like a great WWII film ..

Yep, the heat can do a number on the plants, especially, as you said, in clay pots.....I've stopped using those years ago simply because of the heat they produce. I use decorative ceramic and heavy duty decorative plastic now.........the ceramic are gorgeous, but mighty heavy if I want to change their locations. I use sphagnum moss for coverings and for water retention, I use water crystals.

Good morning Bea and whoever else is up. It's a hazy warm morning here. I have an appt this morning to discuss my hearing aid, but the rest of the day is free so I can decide what I'm not going to do outside. Yep, we're heading into a heat wave too. I'm glad I got a lot done in the garden the past 2 days. With these temps I'll have to go out at night to weed!

Oh yeah, that just looks ugly.

Yea, the name can be deceiving, but they work.

These are what I use:

I never heard of these. What a great idea for my deck plants. I try to use mostly plastic pots for the evaporation issues, but even the plastic pots seem to dry out so quickly in this heat. These crystals might be the answer especially if I can't get to the watering every day. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah, just funnin' ;) Pat's used those (or similar) for some time. I keep telling her to store the excess in the freezer

86 here, yesterday. High humidity. Supposed to "break" today and return to mid 70's. We hope!

Hola .. :)

Well, learned something new .. never had heard of that stuff .. I actually read the description and they seem quite innovative .. probably a kick just to see them expand ..
Yes, and they DO expand, so be cautious as to the amount used. Years ago, when I first started using them, because I have a heavy hand, I thought, the more, the better! Not so.

Just a picture to hopefully have a cooling effect for you!
