I've gotten more looks recently also. I suppose covering up my ugly mug, my eyes take center stage. Funny but true. Still don't like wearing them, but trying to look at the silver lining and all that jazz.

Some time back, in the Mask Timeline, I advocated for burkas / hijabs .. I find them particularly alluring .. of course, with the heatwave and all, probably more unhealthy than not ..

I get up when I get up, then catch up on media and caffeinate until the alarm clock alerts me to 7AM. I get dressed, eat breakfast, take the dog for a walk, get to Mass if there is time, then go to the gym. I can be back home by eleven. Except for taking walks with the dog, I am home, inside, for the rest of the day. Tomorrow morning I may add gardening to my list of morning activities. He will have to entertain himself on tieout by the garden. Predicted "feels like" at 102.
Sounds pretty much like my morning routine, also....except for the gym as it is not opened yet, so have to be satisfied with walks, which actually, I'm hit or miss with them. I'm online for daily Mass, but Sat & Sun is open now for about 150.

I was in the store yesterday, and ran into an old friend. I had sunglasses on with my mask, and said 'hi Vi'......she said, sorry but I don't know who you are!!!! We both got a laugh out of that when I took my sunglasses off.

You make me tired just thinking about all you do before lunch! You are Wonder Woman!!

Yeah, well .. truthfully, I'm not so much worried about me .. at 90, although she appears to be a fairly robust old bird, she's got the biggest risk ..

During the last few weeks, I've just been living my life as normally as I can ..

(is that a mask in your pocket or are you just glad to see me .. ??)

Speaking of masks, they are, apparently, morphing into somewhat of a Fashion Accessory .. I had dinner at a local eatery a few days go, my Waitress, who I've known for years, was sporting one of those black, form fitting masks .. we talked off and on as she tended her area and, I must say, I had never paid attention to just how beautiful her eyes are .. ;)

Hey Willie, it's not only age, but underlying health problems that cause so many problems with surviving Covid. There was just a couple of stories about people who beat it at age 100!!

About the masks. I know I have a little difficulty hearing, but I've noticed that it's much harder to understand what people are saying without being able to see their mouth! I don't know if anyone else has this problem, maybe it's just me. Maybe I lip read without realizing it? And of course you can't see expressions either. Anybody else notice it?

Looking at this pic it's hard to believe you could stand right next to her and not see it.

I agree, but in that photo it was sure hard to tell. If you watch women skaters, their costumes are the same. Can't hardly tell on camera. Very clever. And I often wondered how difficult it would be to sew on that stuff.

I'm the same way, except I thought I had good hearing.

Some people show their emotions in the eyes too. I've tried to include my eyes with a smile, I probably look like :D.

Yeah, if you want to find out who mumbles, just lose some hearing. It does help to see their faces.

I had an odd experience at Smith's supermarket here. The cashier kept mumbling behind her mask and finally pointed to a printed notice on the counter. Holy Moly! It was entirely Spanish. I know this is NM, but gimme a break. She did finally come with an English version. Seems there is a shortage of coins, so your change will be credited to your loyalty card. I think I will just use the old bank card, but I dislike keeping up with the balance.

Good morning Fran and Rose. It's going to be miserable hot and humid here this weekend. Mike just went out to sweep the pool since our son and the family are coming over to swim - they have no AC! He's a dripping mess. Looks like he just got out of the pool.

Our daughter and family did arrive in SC to start their vacation. Unfortunately the huge house that was rented is having a problem with the AC not working. They were scrambling to set up sleeping spaces for everybody downstairs since it's cooler there. The repair guy showed up and may have fixed it, but it'll take awhile to cool off that huge house. What a way to start a vacation.

It's late morning, but still, morning.

87o here with a high of 88o, and 30% chance of rain......nothing new with that forecast in recent days!

As much as I don't want to go, I must get to the store again......that'll make it twice in one week.......whoever would have thought that we would need to change our shopping habits along with all the other restrictions we have! Then again, whoever would have thought ANY of this would happen!

@Bea-FL You should see the Everglades......getting so big and plenty of buds! Peppers are budding also and coming along nicely......

Hola .. :)

Within the STL area, optimum viewing time in the evening is in the next couple days for Neowise the Comet .. I'm going to haul out the DSLR and tripod and see if I can get any good shots .. it's going to be the highest on the horizon it's going to get ..

May need to get out in a cornfield, I don't know .. lots of tall trees around the house ..

I'm sure not getting up at no 3 AM to try and spot it, 9:50 PM - 12 Midnight seems to the the optimum evening time the next few days ..

You know, comets used to be regarded both as omens of disaster and messengers of the gods .. just sayin' ..

Yes! I have high-frequency hearing loss and also do a bit of lip-reading myself. I also have to admit that some women have really lovely eyes and the mask allows their eyes to really stand out. A lot of women who wear a burka use makeup to enhance the beauty of their eyes. I agree with @Uncle Willie, I think that the mask will now be a common part of women's fashion and their eyes will become a focal point for expressive makeup.

When I was a parachute rigger, I hated it when I had to repair the silk. Talk about a real slippery critter. :-x

Yes! I have high-frequency hearing loss and also do a bit of lip-reading myself.

When I was deployed, nearby artillery fire ended up causing me to have what is known as tinnitus to this day .. it started out as a somewhat mild case, then, in later years, when I owned the large PA system and traveled the concert circuit, it got worse .. no one thought about hearing protection way back when .. imagine having a high frequency note being constantly played in your ears, 24 / 7 ..

The weird part is, when I am exposed to loud noise for maybe a half hour or more, it goes away temporarily .. my DR has never been able to figure it out and there really is no cure .. you just learn to live with it ..
