Meet Me in St Louie Louie
Well, I just got around to starting the charge on the batteries .. :p

I'll say a few things .. an Expert advised me to warsh the tank with mild soapy water, rinse and let dry .. that was a good idea, since my Zlide did exhibit machine oil residue in spots .. I disassembled the tank, removed the coil and glass piece and warshed .. let air dry ..

Reassembled the tank with a 1.6 ohm coil from the new ones I bought, since there was no 1.6 in the box .. after dripping 4 liquid drops in the new coil .. at first, I saw a small gap on the top screw in piece and noticed the coil was not touching the other end, opened it up and realized I had not pushed the coil down enough ..

Zlided the top open and carefully filled about 1/2 of the visible window .. it's a good thing I have those needle like tips on my liquid bottles ..

This tank really holds some liquid compared to an EVOD .. as well, you'd think you were buying a Rolex the way they pack these things .. I almost broke out my Swiss Army knife to cut the box open ..

Physically, the piece is well crafted, quite heavy, almost like a very good firearm ..

So far, so good ..

I will be soliciting info probably tomorrow on setting the PV .. no rush .. heck, I never really expected to have all the goods this quick ..

Yepper, listen to the lady. Most new batts are shipped at 3.7 volt charge. If you had put it in it would have worked but not lasted that long 'till it needed charging. If you have a volt meter, it should come off the charger fully charged from 4.1 to 4.2 volts.

Suggestion: Set the Solo at 8 watts and go up/down from there to find what you like. Janet and I use 1.6Ω coils at 10 watts and find that a friendly setting.

16GA needle for wrapping the coils if I remember right, it's been awhile.

Sounds about right, although I used a 6-32 machine screw, wrapped tight into the threads. Kept in the screw until mounted through the grommet and then just unscrew it and wick.

When I put a new z-coil in I put a drop on each of the 4 holes and another drop in the bottom before plugging it in. (I like watching the drops get sucked in.) Put the Zenith on the Solo and leave it sit for a few minutes to make sure it gets a good soaking. When you push the fire button the first time after putting in a new coil a message will tell you there's a new coil. Just push the bottom button once and it'll go away. Then you're good to go.

I love that adjusting the watts is so easy. No counting clicks or trying to read tiny print, just push the bottom button up or down to suit your taste. I usually set mine at 10, but some days my taste buds are in a different mood.

Speaking of clicks. If the Solo does shut off on you, just push the fire button quickly 5 times.

Good point .. I'm leaning toward keeping the the EVODS and the coils anyway, since who knows what the future may hold .. I also have several large medication bottles filled with old coils that got to the point where they could not be re-wicked, but I saved them anyway .. Cathy (clnire) told me a long time ago that they can be recoiled ..
Yes, they can be rebuilt. I rebuilt them for years. Even figured out how to rebuild when I first had my thumb injury! I have about 50 new Evods myself, but I am hanging on to them because ya never know what will happen. I have moved to reliable rebuildables, but if I don't need the Evods some day, perhaps I can help someone in the future....

I use a 16 gauge needle, 30 gauge wire. I tried one of the coils wrapper devices but built on a 16 gauge needle for so long it would take me a whole new learning curve to be able to use a device. Even my rebuildable tanks, I wrap on a 5/64 screwdriver (from a dollar store set of screwdrivers) and moved to 29 gauge wire because that's what I am used to. Even with my bad thumb, I can wrap a better coil on a needle or a screwdriver.

Well, I could say it's not going to be as hot today, but I'd be contradicting the forecast...

    Hola .. :(

I think I put the batteries in the charger wrong .. I've never seen a battery that does not have positive / negative markings .. I just left them in the charger overnight and when I got back in this AM, the 3 LEDS on each battery slot were blinking yellow .. took the batteries out and put them on the meter and they are around 3 volts .. put them back in the charger the other direction and the LEDS are solid on the first / blinking on the second, nothing on the third ..

    Live and learn ..

Look at the batteries closer. You can tell one end from the other. When all three lights are solid your batteries are charged......more waiting.

Well, I think it's pretty stupid that a battery maker would not clearly indicate the + / - sides, I mean, that ought to be a law .. yesterday, I put the end that's flat on the + and the end that kind of looks like a button on the - .. the charger lights were blinking, which I figured meant the durn things were charging .. that's what other chargers do ..
