Meet Me in St Louie Louie
Hola ..

It's been somewhat of a tradition to recall our personal experience during 9/11 .. Me, I had a Woman at the time, she woke up before me that day and turned on the TV .. I got up, took a shower and shaved, walked into the kitchen, poured my coffee, lit up a Marlboro .. and sat down for a minute before heading out to the Workshop ..

Suddenly, the news broke in with images of the first plane hitting .. I was then mesmerized by the TV .. we sat, pretty much in silence and then the second plane hit and we both knew this was no accident .. I clearly remember saying, "We're under attack .."

After a while, I decided to go to work .. I saw no point in watching an endless loop ..

The streets were eerily empty .. I remember I felt somehow scared that day .. I did not know what to expect next .. but, I knew I had to keep my mind occupied ..

The coming days were surreal, in many ways ..

Yet, through it all, it seemed like we were all United, Humanity shown through, we were all as one .. a fleeting time of Unity ..

I woke up first that morning and saw the news. I thought it was some type of movie trailer at first. When I realized it was real I woke up my DH. He knew I was serious because I couldn't stop crying.
We sat in silence and watched the repeats on the news. It was just so unbelievable. We finally turned off the TV but I couldn't bring myself to go outside. Somehow it seemed it would be fake if I refused to believe it. I'll never forget that cold feeling I had and still get when I think about it.
I do remember feeling proud at how Americans grouped together to deal with the situation. Still makes me proud to be an American. :)

Willie around here Walmart enforces the mask rule as well as number of customers allowed in a store. If you try to get in without they hand you a disposable one. My Walgreens does too.

I've not been to Wally World in some time .. but I did drop in a Walgreens this morning .. big sign / no enforcement .. :(

Here, some places enforce it, some don't.

I was at work (outside consultant PC technician) working on a computer. I heard someone out in the programming/support area scream. We all crowded around this person's computer and watched it happen. It was bone chilling and although work went on, we were all pretty much zombies going through the motions.

Morning, all. I think. After a week of winds from the NE bringing us smoke from eastern WA fires, now we have winds from the SW bringing it from the Oregon and CA fires. While nowhere near as bad as it is for those closer, the word is to not even let your pets out. Cats will NOT be happy!

But, it's also lowering the temp and raising the humidity. And murmurs of rain next week. Just have to keep breathing long enough to get to next week!

Good morning. I was at work on 9-11 and a co-worker got a call from her husband that the first plane hit. We all thought what a horrible accident. Then he called to tell us about the 2nd one and we all froze. I said we're under attack and turned on the tv in the meeting room to watch the news. I called both our kids at college and told them to get to a TV immediately. Eventually we had to get back to work, but we were all zombies the rest of the day. Once Mike and I got home we were glued to the tv for the rest of the evening.

The following days it was heartwarming to see all the flags waving and people being nice to each other. Is that what it takes?

Anyway, Hux is only 4 and Brody is 2 so yesterday we took the kids to the Wells Fargo parking lot in Phila to see the Jurassic Park display. The cars snaked through a zig zag course to see life-size, animated dinosaurs. Oh my, Hux was SO excited! The boys were out of their carseats and Hux stuck his head out the window screaming with delight. It was so much fun watching them!

Hola .. :)

Last week or so, I ruminated over the apparent Sellers Market in homes within the STL area .. as opposed to the magnitude of business closings ..

Yesterday, the Post-Dispatch did a piece on local area home sales and the booming market .. apparently, according to their research, it's being driven by the Work at Home phenom .. as well as the Teach at Home thing .. folks are wanting to get larger houses, especially if both Spouses are somehow tethered to either or both scenarios ..

Folks that may have had a Condo or Townhouse, now also want yards they can do something with ..

In addition, for those not moving, which has apparently choked off the supply of existing homes for sale, home improvement projects are on the uptick .. including a boom in nice Storage Sheds that are being turned into home offices ..

And, there has apparently been a big dip in Uber / Lyft business since people are not as prone to be up for getting into a vehicle that's been occupied by various strangers all day ..

Back early on in the Pandemic, I wondered about what seismic shifts would take place as things progressed and what long term changes would take place .. I still think we are seeing the tip of the iceberg as far as what the future holds as it relates to the normalcy that we once knew ..

Finally, it's odd to me that we've had a couple Pizza Hut's close up permanently in the last few weeks .. you'd think that Pizza Hut would be thriving in a take out Society ..

As we slide into the Holiday Gift Buying Season, it's always a struggle to find something for those on your Gift List that seem to have everything ..

Enter the Emoly Pet Dog Dryer .. I'll bet they don't have one ..

The 3 granddaughters just from this house like rustic house stuff. Made shopping this year a bit easier. The 2 boys are a different story. I don't buy for the whole family because nobody does. Just too many. 4 kids, 11 grandkids, 8 great grands. Nope, can't do that.

We used to buy for everyone, then we each chose a name as a pollyanna. Now we choose a pollyanna, but instead of a gift we choose a charity we know that person would appreciate and reveal it on our Christmas gathering. We only have the 4 grandsons so we still buy for them though. If we go to visit family we'll take a bottle of wine and/or a plate of home made cookies. By the time our great grands come along we'll be in a nursing home if we're still around.
