Hi all,
On a lighter note - what a difference a week makes in the changing of the seasons.

I had to work from home last week to tend the DH (minor procedure but he was told to park his .... in a chair for 7 days). I didn't get out of the house except for a quick run to the store 1 day and taking out the trash one night. I'm so happy he's been cleared to resume his usual activities, especially grocery shopping & cooking dinner for me (and he's glad he's cooking too ).

So, this week I'm back at work:
Day 1: on the drive in, I was amazed at how many trees had started changing colors. How did this happen so fast?
Day 2: work late (after 6pm) and had to put the headlights on as I drove home through the curvy tree covered back roads. It was dark in there. Nooo! I'm not ready to lose the sun!
Day 3: storms overnight with wind gusts 50+mph, drive to work and it's like the back roads are striped by fallen leaves - yellow at the edge, tire track black, yellow, tire track, yellow in the middle, tire track, yellow, tire track, yellow at the edge. It was an amusing distraction as I headed to work. Some mornings it doesn't take much :)

I hope winter takes it's time coming..

Just north of you and about all the same here. Dd is flying into Boston this afternoon and gd is driving down to pick her up. She's been on an extended vacation.

Good morning/afternoon, all. Temp today is supposed to be a high of 89° with an overnight low of 52°. Nice and sunny with a bit of a breeze. The part for my lawnmower should be in today. I'm glad to hear it because my yard is really looking neglected. I hope everyone has a good day.

they are disease spreading wild animals ..

the invasion of urban areas by various wildlife over the years is not a good thing ..
Yes, raccoons can carry diseases but so can all other wild animal species.

I also want to address your second statement. Wildlife does not invade urban areas because they want to. Actually we humans started it all by invading their habitats…not the other way around. We build our homes on their land, take away their food sources and expect them to just go away.

I will end my post with one of my favorite quotes by Rachel Carson:
“The question is whether any civilization can wage relentless war on [wild]life without destroying itself, and without losing the right to be called civilized.”

I do know a little about this .. 3-4% of land in the USA is considered developed .. and 75% or so of the population live within those lands .. so, I don't think people are really pushing out the wildlife and vermin ..

No, the critters have become lazy, and over time, discovered that Urban areas are an easy food source .. so, they gravitate to where the pickin's are easy and good .. and, it's become an infestation .. in my area, municipalities have instituted Deer Hunting within the boundaries of townships during certain times of the year .. yes, that may sound horrifying, especially with people living there in subdivisions and what not, but, it's the only way to control a continuously escalating problem .. that, or hire more Animal Control folks to thin the herd .. and raise taxes .. generally, the control of the smaller pests are left to homeowners, Animal Control where I live won't even respond to anything but a stray cat or dog ..

That has created a sub-industry of for hire Animal Control business .. who do quite well, since, after all, who wants a skunk / possum / groundhog or raccoon living under your deck .. ??

I suppose the good news is, when and if the Apocalypse comes, for a while, anyway, there should be plenty of game out there when food starts to run out ..

The only question is, does it taste like chicken ..

One of my friends has vacation property in Angel Fire, NM. He allows friends to use the property during the offseason. Not too many of us could afford to rent the house during the snow/ski season. Anyway, he got a call from a friend who was using the house. There was a bear who had made it's home under the deck. So it isn't just the little critters who visit our neighborhoods.

    Hola .. :)

Decided this AM to beef up my gear .. so ..

Another Aegis Solo, yes, just one .. kangerwholesale / lightfire still has them at $26.99 .. I got the red and black this time ..

The Innokin Zenith Replacement Coil 1.6 is now back in stock also at lightfire for $6.10 .. ordered another 6 boxes / 30 coils ..

Took the time to browse the clearance section and ran across these ::
Innokin INNO iClear16 Single Coil Kit .. at $5.99 a kit .. could not pass that up .. ordered 3 .. they seem to have pretty good reviews .. seemed like the Deal of the Day to me ::

Innokin INNO iClear16 Single Coil Kit

Hit about $81 clams in total, so scored free shipping and, as last time, no sales tax .. didn't even bother looking for any discount codes, as I was happy enough with the deal ..

I had ordered my first Solo / Zlide / Coils back in July, took a bit of time before I started using it, but I think I'm pushing about maybe 45-60 days on that first coil .. it's still vapable, but I think it's getting a little funky .. draw is still great / taste, not so much .. I guess I'll finish the liquid that's in the Zlide and change into my next, 2nd, coil .. I can't believe they last that long .. it's crazy ..

Lastly, lightfire does not stock the Zlide that I could see, so, if there is a deal out there, keep a Brother in the loop ..

Just as a suggestion, before changing out the coil . . . Rinse tank throughly & coil very well - then let dry completely . . . Then refill tank and try coil for flavor . . . . May not need new coil yet . . . Just Sayin' . . .

Well, I'd planned on saving up the coils and using your ultrasonic cleaner tip .. but, at this rate of use, it would take a couple years in order to save up enough of them to make ultrasonic even worth doing ..

Also, I don't yet have another Zlide, only have the one, so waiting for the tank / coil to fully dry is a bit prohibitive .. I don't know how long it takes the coil to dry out .. can you hit it with a heat gun .. ??

I'd be careful with a heat gun ... you could possibly melt the o-rings or gaskets.

This is the cheapest I've seen them without a discount code. Most places are selling them for at least $19.99

Innokin Zlide MTL Tank @$16.95, I've no idea about shipping cost.

Well, the animals were there first so when people move into their living rooms and leave food at the curb what do you expect?. You gotta learn to live with them. I know you do because you've used the have-a-heart trap to relocate your critters from your deck. I get frustrated with animals eating my plants or what I put out for the birds, but that's what fences and maybe some cayenne pepper is for. We've even set aside a portion of the property for them to bed down in. As long as the animal is not rabid they're free to share the property with us.

If you're in a rush - you can use a blowdryer, that's if you're careful - but usually on a sunlit window or over night on a paper towel works . . . Then again, I have more then 1 tank at my disposal . . . .;)

When you find a Zlide make sure it’s the 4ml one.
