According to the weather guessers, it looks like I won't get a chance to start limb cleanup until Thursday at the earliest. I don't want to be doing the cutting in the rain, there is a 100% chance for today and tomorrow with 80% so far on Thursday. Friday will have a high of 52° with no chance of rain. One thing I will have to do is take a heat gun to my satellite dish. I'm getting zero signal due to the ice buildup. I'm glad that I have a DVR, I can at least watch what I have recorded, currently, I'm re-watching The Book of Eli, it gets a 5-star rating from me. I might even watch another of my favorites, Secondhand Lions after this one is over. Here are a couple of pictures of the downed limbs in the backyard.

Good morning. Mild but wet here this morning. Doesn't look like we're going to get the rain and freezing temps till Fri night. This is not shaping up to be a good Halloween for the kids. I think it was 2 years ago it was so mild that people set up chairs in their driveways to hand out candy. Some adult beverages were shared with the parents. It was nice to be able to chat with neighbors. We're supposed to have a full moon which is cool for Halloween if we can see it for the clouds.

    Hola .. :)

That is just so weird .. I have my 6 month check up tomorrow and my DR of 20 years is retiring .. they sent me a letter saying his last day is Friday along with the name of my new DR, a woman .. so, I don't know if I will see him or her .. I'm actually quite apprehensive about it all ..

My old DR and I had a great relationship and I just hate he's retiring, sigh .. but, nothing lasts forever ..

It's always a bit worrying getting a new doc. Fortunately 2 of my most recent new docs are great. I actually asked this doc I now share with Mike when he was retiring and he said no plans to do that for a couple years yet so that's a relief. Also, it turns out he's the husband of my audiologist.

Good morning/afternoon all. The weather has really turned for the worst in the last couple of days. It is currently 31° and raining. There has been so much ice buildup up that there are numerous limbs down in the yard. Large limbs. When the weather warms up I will be busy with the chainsaw. On Monday, my daughter asks that I not go up to Miami for my Grandmother's service. She as well as I didn't like how the road conditions were going to be with the freezing rains that had been forecast. I am very glad that I didn't go and I'm sure that Grandma would understand. I'll take a pic or two when I go outside again.

It's a shame you didn't go to your grandmothers service, but it's the safer thing to do. Your family is already sad without worrying about you making that trip and maybe having trouble because of the weather.

Leave those limbs alone until it's better weather to work on them. They're not going anywhere. Just remember it takes a lot longer to heal if you get hurt.

Uh oh, that's not a good advertisement for getting a satellite dish!!

    Hola .. :)

When I get my 6 month checkup, I always spend the better part of a day at the VA .. if you wait around, they will run the blood tests and make them available to the DR ASAP ..

Well, the 6 month checkup went fine, I guess I'll be around for another 6 months .. potassium level was a bit high, but the rookie that drew my blood had a hard time hitting the vein, which can cause a false high potassium ..

Said good bye to my DR of 20 years .. he told me he'd just had enough and was going to teach a few classes at Wash U, we talked for about an hour .. he's my age, and he's on Social Security already and now he'll get his pension .. I'll miss him .. his long time nurse will be gone in 6 months ..

I pulled up to the VA this AM and it was downright disconcerting .. they had concrete barricades up in order to divert traffic flow thru a maze to a central drive thru, where a series of questions was asked and you were issued a wrist band to prove you'd gone thru it as well as a fresh mask .. free Covid nasal swab tests on the spot, I passed on that ..

Several Regular Army, not National Guard, were around the entrance area, they were armed, as well, a Humvee with a mounted 50 caliber was visible .. I don't know what they were expecting, but they were certainly prepared .. kind of looked like the movie set of a disaster film ..

Entering the hospital, I was wanded, I should have left that Swiss Army Knife in the truck .. o_O

Good that you got a clean bill of health! Maybe they think there will be a run on flu shots?? Yeah, seems a bit... odd...

Well, it is St Louis, so who knows .. maybe they had a threat of some sort come in, that's about all I could figure .. and, with the run up to Tuesday, maybe extra precautions are being taken at some Government facilities ..

The maze like barricade designed to isolate driving in to one spot only as well as the questioning I'd guess has been there a while now .. it obviously took time to put up and just looked like it had been around .. and, I think I understand the purpose in the Covid fight ..

I'll add that, the nursing home for Vets that the VA maintains on this campus is the only nursing home in the state of Missouri that has not had a single case of Covid .. so, I guess they are doing something right ..

Being the conspiracy theorist that I am, it did bring thoughts of "Are they expecting Covid panic and a run on hospitals .. ?? .. "

Good morning Anise, Fran and David. It's been raining since I got up at 6:00. It's 52 degrees so just enough to feel chilly and wet. Yuck. It's a good day to stay in, but I gotta run to the crackpractor this afternoon. Yesterday I was holding my head sidewards instead of using a pillow when I put the peroxide in my ears and really messed up my neck. So, I'll be going out after all. Yep, it's a real pain in the neck.

Even got my flu shot yesterday ... which maybe l should have postponed ... I think you're not supposed to get it if you're sick. But yesterday I wasn't sure if something was 'coming on' or I was just having an 'off' day. Nope ... this morning when I woke up I knew I had a cold.

    Hola .. :)

That is, again, so weird .. I got my flu shot yesterday as well .. o_O .. along with a tetanus shot that I was apparently due for .. and my regular Cologuard kit ..

Rainy still, it's definitely making up for the dry as a bone last couple of months .. supposed to end soon and then it's clear sailing for a while ..

Don't expect much of anything in the way of Trick or Treaters this year .. my area was never really a hotbed of activity anyway, and now, with all things considered, I may have to eat those Reese's Cups and Snickers all by myself .. .. looks like a perfect day for an Election, though ..
