At AKC (American Kennel Club) dog shows, if you are not wearing a mask you can be "benched", meaning a committee of members of the sponsoring club plus AKC reps, meet to determine the consequences. You can be banned from AKC shows for 6 months or more. People don't want to be banned, so compliance is pretty strong.

Sad news, Geordi's breeder (ICU nurse) tested positive for COVID several days ago. She is still an avid smoker despite all my attempts to convert her. Yes, she vapes sometimes but still smokes like a chimney. She is doing OK, shortness of breath is not unusual for her. Good news is her husband, also a nurse (ER nurse) has tested negative so far.

Other very sad news is Chris (breeder) called me today all in a mess. Geordi's mother passed away today. Very sudden, she ate this morning, played with Geordi's sister, everything seemed normal . Chris was taking a shower, Issa ran into the bathroom, yelped, and died. No clue what caused it and right now they have other expenses to deal with to make an autopsy out of the question so we will never know. Issa was 11 1/2 years old and had seemed to be in good health.

It has not been a good day... tomorrow will be better.
So sorry about Issa! :(

Good afternoon/morning all. I hope that everyone is having a good day.
I received some bad news yesterday. My Grandmother passed yesterday. She was 101 and earlier this year she did beat covid. She lead a long and blessed life. I am not sure about making the drive as that is a long time for me to be sitting in a car.
Edna Cook Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information
Sorry for your loss. To live such a long life and to have survived Covid is a mighty testament to what a strong woman she must have been.

Morning, misfits.

Clear and cold here. Well, it's that time of year, so one needs to adjust. Step away from the sandals....

Yep, apples and milk are both good for you ;)

I don't know if anyone remembers the old Holiday Inn Holidomes .. there used to be one not too far away from my home .. it's been many years since it was demolished .. the beauty of these was, you did not necessarily have to be staying at the Hotel in order to check it out, since no one checked .. indoor pool, shuffleboard, video games, an eatery or two, a bar, pool tables, ping pong, etc ..

And, if you were staying at the hotel, you could get a room right off the Holidome ..

Whoa! I never heard of one of these! Now would not be a good time to open one, but I would think it might be a popular place to go especially for a family with older kids who are always bored.

Yes! Willie! Lets's start a movement to do away with DST. Split the difference and move the clocks 1/2 hour and then leave it alone! Or just make this Sunday the last time we mess with the clocks. Live with the sun and moon and nature and deal with it. What difference does it make for kids to be going to school in the dark or coming home in the dark? Sheesh. It's so disruptive.

Well, I'm sure for kids, the Holidomes were a paradise where they could wander free from the parents, especially if they had just spent the whole day in a car .. me, I used to meet up with a couple of buddies .. or, in a pinch, take my woman, since I had one back then, imbibe with some of that natural substance and play like we were on some tropical isle .. back then, of course, you could light up a Marlboro as you pleased as well ..

I don't know how many of them Holiday Inn actually made, but, it was a great concept ..

Back some time ago, when you and Mike were visiting out in Colorado, I suggested Casa Bonita in Denver, which I used to really enjoy .. a similar concept, indoor recreational spot, only there, you had a Mexican All-You-Can-Eat Buffet as well .. they even had a tall cliff hanging over a blue pool with cliff divers entertaining you as you ate .. but, if I recall, you looked into it and discovered it had gone to seed .. sad .. when I used to go, it was a wonderland of cave like passages and things to explore and discover ..

Disney, in Florida, has bits of that kind of thing at Epcot .. I always enjoyed visiting the various World Showcase areas .. especially Morocco and China .. it's been many years since I last went ..

I absolutely despise the Time Changes .. it's just a stupid legacy that no one seems to want to get rid of .. we need to start a movement ..

Well, the movement did start, some years and time changes back. Here in WA we passed a bill to stop making changes, but for us and any other States, well, Congress has to approve it.

Good luck.
Arizona has one time only. Why can't we?

I hate the time changes! Set it and forget it, please!

This year will be easier for us. We are currently in Oklahoma City for a dog show, on central time (and a nasty ice storm!) . Next week we go back east and to Eastern time. So we change to central time this week (we don't always do that for a 1 week show when going right back to eastern time), and when the time changes for eastern time we will already be on it!

Yep, I remember looking into that place in Denver. I know our daughter would have jumped at the chance to go if it was up to snuff.

I think every year the topic comes up. It's the state congress that has to approve it right? Aren't there 3 states that don't change times?

As of 2020, the following states and territories are not observing DST: Arizona, Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, The Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

Arizona (except the Navajo Nation) is the only state in the contiguous U.S. that does not observe daylight saving time. Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas are among the states trying to observe year-round standard time.

Good morning. Yep, guess we have to start writing to our legislators again about the time change.

Today I go for my annual wellness check-up. My old doc retired (the 3rd one to do that) so I'll be seeing a new doc. He happens to be the same one Mike sees and Mike thinks I should have chosen a different doc because I might be bad luck and retire him too. It's funny, as I've gotten older, every time I see a new doc the first thing I think about is how old is he and should I bother to break him in?

They opted out when it started...

Tired of daylight saving time? These places are trying to end it.

"In many states, people are favoring another option: staying on daylight saving time year round. Some experts suggest this could have positive health impacts—barbecue notwithstanding—since more evening light hours mean more physical activity, such as walks, trips to the park, and participation in sports.

To do so, however, the U.S. Congress would have to amend the Uniform Time Act—a step in the process that is yet to happen."

Here it was to stay on daylight year round. I'd have been happy to stay on standard, since "The Uniform Time Act allows states to opt out of observing daylight saving time—and remain on standard time—without any federal say so, and some states and U.S. territories have long chosen this option. " and we'd not have had to wait for (or beg) our "representatives" to follow our wishes!!

Meanwhile...

Hola .. :)

That is just so weird .. I have my 6 month check up tomorrow and my DR of 20 years is retiring .. they sent me a letter saying his last day is Friday along with the name of my new DR, a woman .. so, I don't know if I will see him or her .. I'm actually quite apprehensive about it all ..

My old DR and I had a great relationship and I just hate he's retiring, sigh .. but, nothing lasts forever ..

Good morning/afternoon all. The weather has really turned for the worst in the last couple of days. It is currently 31° and raining. There has been so much ice buildup up that there are numerous limbs down in the yard. Large limbs. When the weather warms up I will be busy with the chainsaw. On Monday, my daughter asks that I not go up to Miami for my Grandmother's service. She as well as I didn't like how the road conditions were going to be with the freezing rains that had been forecast. I am very glad that I didn't go and I'm sure that Grandma would understand. I'll take a pic or two when I go outside again.
