Almost as bad are those who don't pull it over their nose... uh, what's the point?

Seems to me that we all live in a society, and enjoy it's benefits. Electricity. Water. Grocery stores. Heck, roads. Some, it seems, don't seem to want to do anything to protect that society.

I wear my mask over my mouth, only, because I have issues with trying to breathe thru my nose...and I don't last too long even doing it that way...then I simply have to uncover both my nose and my mouth to get the full oxygen that I need, having COPD, asthma and bronchitis.

Fortunately, for me, and others, I do most of my grocery and other sundry shopping on-line!:)

I wear my mask over my mouth, only, because I have issues with trying to breathe thru my nose...and I don't last too long even doing it that way...then I simply have to uncover both my nose and my mouth to get the full oxygen that I need, having COPD, asthma and bronchitis.

Fortunately, for me, and others, I do most of my grocery and other sundry shopping on-line!:)

When I biatch about the non-maskers, that excludes those with medical issues .. I fully understand that scenario .. fact is, I wear the surgical mask myself, and I have worn the new Industry of fashion cloth masks .. I believe the surgical mask is more breathing restrictive ..

I don't like masking, but I do abide ..

    Same here - "Breathing" is virtually impossible though one of those paper-cloth/"surgical" mask . . . I only use a "mask" (a cotton cloth one that a wonderful ECF "Friend" :wub: made for "Me" ) for quick in & out trips into stores - otherwise I use a "Face Shield", which is much better to use for longer trips into stores/eateries . . . AND - Thankfully, there is another benefit, the "Face Shield" will on occasion show you & other people that "You" are still able to "Breath" . . . :lol: :lol: :lol:

    The best part is you can clean them with "glasscleaner" and they are not the cheap throw away mask that limit breathing so much . . . Just Sayin' . . . :rolleyes:

    Well it does have it's advantages ... I can just put mine on and cover 3 or 4 days of beard stubble and go out and about without looking like a bum. :rolleyes:

    I think that might only work for absentee ballots, not the mail in ones.

    We just got back from voting. We had to wait in line outside for 1 hr 40 minutes before getting into the building to actually vote. Fortunately it was a gorgeous day. The air was a bit cool, but the sun was out with just a few wispy clouds. We were pretty comfortable and the line kept inching along. The line was stretched down the side of the building and completely across the back. It's an old elementary school.

    About the masks. I kind of feel like I can't breathe as well with the mask on, but find as long as I make sure the part below my chin is pulled away from my skin there is better air flow and it's much less stifling. The nose part needs to be tight against my nose with my glasses on top of that edge so my glasses don't fog up. There have been 2 occasions recently when I found myself inside the grocery store and then in the doctors office and suddenly realized I didn't have my mask on. Strange because I usually mask up before getting out of my car. Maybe it's because it's just not a novelty anymore?

    Never say never .. I'd venture to guess there is a faction that considers it a Fashion Statement .. it could also be considered a boon to criminals ..

    As far as the clear face shields go, I see a few of them out and about .. they mess my hair up even more than the regular, elastic ear twine ones .. :p

    Off kilter for me yesterday, and my internet said well, I'm off kilter today..couldn't stand the competion, I guess..unusual internet interruption until about 3ish then it was time to do my 'thang'.

    Around my neighborhood masks are worn, and actually, don't see a 'one' without them on, especially in our stores or in Church. Very compliant here in Florida.

    Well, there are times I don't like speed limits and stop lights, but they also have a useful, life saving purpose. :)

    I'm sure it varies by State, but what's done here (again, ALL mail in / drop box) is that they're certified (or rejected) upon receipt. If rejected (and early enough) the voter is contacted to see about correcting the error. Missing signature is the big one. Once validated they're scanned into a stand-alone computer, no net connection, for security. At the close of the polls all the scanned images are processed for the count. I suspect similar treatment for the true "absentee" ballots.

    With the surgical masks, if you do a twist on the over ear strap (top of mask to bottom of ear, bottom of mask to top of ear), it gives you a little space to be able to breath while still covering your nose and mouth.

    Oklahoma City we found people wore masks, passing through Tennessee and an overnight, although signs masks were required very few wore them, nor enforced. We wear masks when we leave the hotel room and required at the shows unless you want to be kicked out. Even when we stop for a potty break (rest stop, gas station, etc.) we wear our masks.

    Yesterday evening, when I got home, the Newsies were already attempting to drive folks into a frenzy .. so, after about an hour of that, I turned off the TV, put on some nice background music and broke out a good book, read till I got tired and then hit the hay ..

    My feng shui must be maintained ..

    I think your state is one of the ones that keeps close tabs on updating your rolls as they should. They're not too concerned with doing that here in PA which is why so many of us are suspicious of blanket mailing ballots here. That and the fact that Phila already has a reputation for messing with elections. At least in our county we've finally gotten rid of the electronic machines. Now we fill in the circles on a ballot with a marker and then feed it into a machine to be read. At least that way we have a paper trail. Not sure if that's done in the whole state or just here.

    Not an easy answer . . . The Face Shield is similar, but not the same as glasses . . . The Face Shield doesn't get dirty as often, well not unless you're wearing the shield all day long, every day or for a week or more . . . Personally, I keep it in my car and use it when NEEDED - like when I am going into the stores or eateries around people. So it doesn't get "dirty" as you might think. Also, I do not touch the shield itself, I pick it up and place on my face using only the plastic frame - other wise the shield can get finger print smudges . . . ;)

    Now for what I have experienced at times when I use the Face Shield . . . The Face Shield can "Fog-up" somewhat right in front of your nose & mouth, depending on how hard your breathing is that day, but it does usually dissipate quickly - Think seeing your breath when it is cold outside . . . If not - Move away from people and lift shield away from your face for a minute or so - no more "Breathing Fog". . . As for cleaning, when and if NEEDED, a quick wipe with a very soft paper towel/piece of clothing you're wearing/ or the cleaning cloth that comes with the set I posted - Easy Peasy. Personally, maybe every 3 - 4 weeks, I use a sprite of Lens / Glass Cleaner and a soft cloth that I got for my reading glasses and give the whole shield inside & out a gentle wipe . . . All Bright & Shinny . . . :)

    BTW: One of the very convenient things is when and if NEEDED (be it in a store/eatery) - I can put on my reading glasses under the Face Shield with No Problems, especially since the plastic frame - while sturdy - is light and not intrusive/obtrusive . . .:thumb:

    Good afternoon, All. I'm glad yesterday is done with now to wait for the final results. Syndee and I went to our polling station, it is located in our local elementary school. I have an old walker that I picked up at Harbor Freight years ago and threw it in the back of the pickup. I'm so glad I took it, it has a seat and it was really appreciated. Others had also brought along folding chairs that they moved when needed. The line went from the school building through the parking lot and along the street in front of the school. We spent about 2 1/2 hours waiting to cast our votes. And so starts the long process of counts and re-counts for the results.
    I took too long posting this and I lost my internet service for a couple of hours. It just came back so I'm posting this while I can.

    I took too long posting this and I lost my internet service for a couple of hours. It just came back so I'm posting this while I can.

    We took our neighbor who has multiple medical problems especially with his legs and feet. Our polling station is the old elementary school. He's very unsteady and wobbly so we dropped him off to sit in the lobby and took our place at the end of the line which wrapped down the side and clear across the back of he building. Took 1-1/2 hrs to make our way to him. There's no way he would have been able to do that by himself. As much as he and his wife want to vote in person I think absentee ballots are in both their futures. I did see one guy using a scooter in line in front of us and a few people brought folding chairs that they moved along. I'm SO glad we had nice weather for it.
