I bet you would have done this no matter his politics. Proud to know you - at least internetwise.

Thank you and yes we would. He and his wife had several medical issues very recently so he couldn't plan properly. We were going anyway so why not. I'm glad I was talking to them and found out they had a problem. It's only right for neighbors to help each other.

Good Morning/Afternoon, everyone. I hope everybody is having a wonderful day. The weather has been very nice the last couple of days. It is clear and sunny with a temp of 65°, I'm not sure what the high will be but I like how it is starting.
I had a project that I have been putting off, for no particular reason other than just forgetting to make the phone call to get it started. My water meter has been too low in the ground, at least 6 inches below the soil top. Well, the city workers just left my house and the meter cover is now even with the level of the soil. I was talking with one of the workers when they finished the job and he said that he was surprised the meter reader hadn't reported the low meter cover. He said they are supposed to report problems like mine. I don't know why they didn't, however, I'm glad I don't have to worry about someone stepping in the hole and breaking/spraining a leg or ankle.

Hola .. :)

Got a couple guys doing some roof work for me at the workshop today .. went out to Home Depot early today to pick up the list of materials they gave me .. I've known one of these guys since he was in High School and was a guitar student of mine .. he's in his mid-40's now .. time, what can you do .. ??

I'd put this off too long, got a couple leaks .. but with the weather as mild as it is right now and no rain in the outlook, now's the time to do it before Old Man Winter fully settles in ..

They seem to be doing a good job ..

If only they did...

Actually I think it happens more than we'd guess. You just don't hear about it unless you're involved. We have a Next-door site made up of local communities and people are always helping each other out. A couple winters ago our heater broke down. I posted a question to see if anyone knew who we could call to get a load of wood for our fireplace. We not only got several leads, but a person several streets away dropped off a small load of wood for us to use until we could get a delivery. And when we were first under lockdown people were volunteering to shop or run errands for anyone who couldn't go out or were afraid. It was pretty heartwarming. Of course there's always the usual miscreants around, but we can warn each other about those. We've caught a couple young varmints before we had to send out a posse.

Good morning, all. Yesterday, I forgot I had a Dr appointment. I got a reminder 10 minutes before the appointment time. I called and could only get another one at 9:00 this morning. I hate early appointments, however, I am just glad they could squeeze me in today. He is my pain management doctor and I hate missing the appointments for my pain meds. I have a couple of extras in case something comes up like bad weather. I think this is the first time I have ever missed an appointment with him in the six years I've been going to him. His office is on the SW side of OKC and I live on the SE side. There was no way I could have made it in 10 minutes. I neglected to change the default time for the reminder in my calendar app. It is just something I will have to pay closer attention to in the future. I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning! It's a gorgeous morning here and it looks like we've got a few more days of it mild, dry temps. That's a good opportunity to get outside stuff ready for winter. I made apple cider donuts yesterday so we'll have snacks for when we take breaks.

Happy Friday, folk.

More rain. Starting to add up, nearly 3" in the last 3 days. Yeah, fall.

Actually I think it happens more than we'd guess. You just don't hear about it unless you're involved.

I actually do agree. Sadly, good news doesn't get ratings. And, of course, any (every?) "bad" event gets 24 hours of being the only thing happening in the world. Per the US media, NOTHING is happening world-wide except our vote count. Really???

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
Hola .. :)

This gleefully exuberant film from 1897, which has been colorized and originally done by Auguste and Louis Lumière, the first film makers .. it, to me, represents a display of joy and playfulness among a group of adults from a bygone era .. this is a tiny Masterpiece that distills the World down to a very Human level, in contrast to the now ..

And, there does not appear to be a sore Loser in the bunch .. among my list of many pet peeves is :: Taking no responsibility, outright lying, being a sore loser, blaming everyone else and attempting to create mayhem to your own gain .. I would imagine most all of you share these childish trait pet peeves with me ..

BTW, that's me on the left .. :D

Good morning friends!

Here's a little ditty to perk you up!:D:rolleyes:

But...the sun's rising, hopefully the sky at least won't be so gloomy ( as is the current situation in our country!)

I actually have the original Hank Williams 78 RPM from the late '40's, early 50's ..

Good afternoon! :)

Great weather we're having; cooled down quite a bit and just a bit ago, we had half a dozen egrets feasting on our lawn.....must have some grubs, I would imagine.

Our neighborhood has just started organizing for Thanksgiving meals to be given to those in need...
Actually, this year we're not going to give them ready made meals, but instead, give them all the ingredients to make it themselves...gives them a sense of not feeling so needy.......Judy (neighbor), the man and I, and a few others are organizing at least 2 trips to Sam's Club.....first one for all the dried goods, and the second trip for perishables.
It can get confusing, so organization is vital, so I leave all the logistics up to them! :) I get my hands in there with any and everything else.

Yesterday, we established ourselves with P's new cardiologist...credentials are super impressive, but the best part, he is nationally well known for his expertise in implants........since my man has one that that has thankfully kept him with us, we want to make sure he stays with us for a very very long time. He's still quite active, playing golf, tennis, softball, and of course, bowling. His CBC numbers are excellent, so we're thrilled about that. Our last cardiologist got a bit lazy and is actually ready to retire; if he isn't ready, he should be....;)

Well, since I've not been posting/reading every day, thought I'd give you a rundown about what's happening at our home.

Hope you are all doing well! :)

Ooo La La .. baked or fried .. ?? Do you drizzle a glaze on them .. ?? Are they easy to make .. ??

I've never made them before, but Mike loves them when he can find them. It was a toss up to fry or bake so I decided to fry this batch. They turned out great. Mike likes them plain so 1/2 of them are plain and the rest I just dipped them in cinnamon and sugar instead of making a glaze. I like them both ways.

Yes, they were easy to make. While 3 Cups of cider was reducing to 1 Cup I dumped the dry ingredients in a bowl and mixed that. Then mixed the eggs, melted butter and cider together and mixed that into the dry ingredients. It makes a wet dough that you let sit for an hour. It's quite easy to roll the dough out to 1/2" thick, cut out donuts and drop into the oil. It only takes about a minute for them to cook. (Actually, it would be faster to cut the dough in strips instead of making doughnut shapes.) If you're interested PM me and I'll send you the recipe.

Gracie! So good to hear from you!

Oh my, egrets are so beautiful! When we have torrential rains our back yard turns into a lake for a couple hours. We often get a single Heron show up to stroll through the water. I keep telling them there's no fish, but they're stubborn and have to check for themselves.

Very good of you to help with the T-day meals. We're going to be at our daughter's so I've started getting a couple bags of "fixins" together to donate.

That's got to be a relief to know that P's new cardiologist is so well credentialed. I'm always leery to have to break in a new doc. I've retired 3 so far and just asked my new one if he was going to be retiring anytime soon! Guess when you get to our age it's the way things go. My hemotologist is about our daughter's age and I thought that was good, but she took a job somewhere else and now I have another whippersnapper. She seems pretty good though so we'll see.
