We managed to get the new refrigerator we wanted last week (lucked out). It's now sitting in my dining room while the new oven is in the living room.
Hola ..
No one probably remembers that my main Living Room TV went out a while back .. however, I parked a 42" bedroom set on an outdoor side table in the meantime and disposed of the old TV .. waited for Amazon Prime Day in order to use the $550 in Amazon gift cards that had been given to me by various people over the last few years or so .. the TV I wanted was $1200, so I almost have half in gift cards .. but, being the cheapskate that I am, I refused to pay full price and Amazon did not even have the dignity to put that set on sale ..
Flash forward to the Walmart "Days of Deals" that had it's first day last week, where they had a 65" 4K no-name brand for $228 .. starting at the stroke of 6:00 PM .. so, I said, what the heck, I'm usually in the recliner by that time anyway, so I booted up the laptop and went to the sale page .. website crashed .. it was back up in a few minutes, so I took a shot and eureka, I snagged one .. (should have tried for 2 or 3, since I could probably sell them for $400) ..
Picked it up Sunday evening, they only gave 48 hours from notification before they would cancel the order ..
Had a neighbor help getting it in the house .. unboxed it Monday and put the feet on .. then, I had to modify my TV credenza since the legs on the new TV were practically at the end of the TV and my credenza was not wide enough ..(old TV had a center pedestal type stand ..) .. still getting it set up and tweaked .. so far so good .. had been still watching the 42" as I dealt with the giant spaghetti of wires from the old set .. the new unit has ROKU built in, so that was a plus, I did not need my old outboard ROKU .. still, running a Blu Ray player, Cable TV, a computer input and a surveillance system gets tricky .. all through a surround sound system ..
I'm still going to get the 75" TV that I want, I'll just be patient .. then, I'll use this 65" for the surveillance system or relegate it to a spare bedroom ..
The good news is, the $228 Walmart TV has no right to look as good as it does .. just hope it holds up .. but hey, if you can get 3 years out of it, that's not bad ..
Being a Video and especially Audio nut, I once had a house guest that asked me "Willie, have you got the bridge of the Enterprise in here somewhere .. ??" .. "Why yes, I think so, just give me a minute to find it .." ..
