have a question...

is this joint closed down at night?!

Hola .. :)

Yes, sometimes, it does seem we are more of a morning Coffee Klatch .. don't know why that is .. used to be some night owls ..

I don't really have a time of day I decide to post .. if I'm in a bad mood, have not had my coffee quota yet, etc ..

Sleep has been way off lately, staying up till 1:30/2:am; highly unusual for me, since I'm usually in bed by 11 and up at 6.

I'm still trying to keep my regular sleep cycle .. bed by 11:30 - Midnight, up at 7:30 AM or so ..

I do feel like I'm suffering from Covid burnout .. tough to get motivated, everything just seems like a drag ..

From the "Picking the Collective Brain" File ::

For some unknown reason, certainly not attributable to me, the keep it warm plate that my glass coffee pot sits on is developing a crust of, apparently, dried coffee residue .. I suppose some must slop out of the pot and end up on the warmer, which then evaporates it and a crust begins to form ..

I thought about taking a plastic scraper and scraping it off, then changed my mind since I thought it might damage the warming plate ..

Tips .. ??

If it’s just the bottom of the coffee maker that the pot sits on to stay warm then cleaning won’t hurt it.

I'm on at different times, not so much recently. One of my now and then hobbies is paracord crafts. I finally got tired of the skeins of paracord being loose in my craft bag. I looked online and ordered a couple of plastic holders and when they arrived, I decided that I liked them. I cut the cardboard back off of a tablet and traced out a pattern. Then I moved my scroll saw to the garage and using a piece of thin wood I had, I cut out a half dozen holders. After a guick sanding I now have all of my skeins of paracord neatly sitting in the craft bag. Of course, my kitten helped me while I straightened and wrapped the paracord. I think she enjoyed the new cord game I played with her.
Today my daughter showed me a holder for her ink pads that she liked. I now have another project that will necessitate a run to Home Depot. I'll have to cut it out and sand the pieces in the shop then bring it in the house to glue it and put it together. I don't have heat in the shop so the glue wouldn't set up out there.
I hope everyone had a good weekend. Stay safe and well.

Willie, I wait until the plate is cool, then put some warmish water on it. Let it stand for a bit, then use a plastic scrubber on it. The water will soften the crust, if left long enough it will even dissolve it.

Usually, I use a mixture of baking soda and vinegar on a warm plate (NOT HOT) . . . Sprinkle Baking soda on plate, pour on a few drops of vinegar. mix until it becomes a paste, let sit for a few minutes and then use a plastic scrubby to loosen residue . . . Wipe off the paste useing paper towels or a cloth - then Rinse off plate with another "Wet" paper towel/cloth (might NEED to use a little "Dawn") until you remove all the paste/residue - may take a few times - you can tell when your done when no more "coffee" can be seen on the wet paper towel/cloth . . . All clean . . . Hope this helps . . . Just Sayin' . . .

It could be rust if you have a metal plate, painted black. My pot started getting some bumps on the black plate, and when I scrubbed it, I found out that it was really the paint bubbling up over the rust. It still works OK, but I can see the orange now, and it leaves a rust stain on the bottom of the pot.

I use mine to make tea. I put the hot tea in a thermos bottle now so I'm not adding more water to the already rusty plate.

I get spurts of motivation mostly out of necessity; thought today was going to be my do-nothing day but then remembered that I need laundry soap, and have to pick up meds for Abby at CVS. I may even take my walk afterwards cause that usually gets the blood flowing. Operative word is MAY. :)

    Morning, loungers.

More rain. Are you surprised?

Town run on today's schedule, after deliberately NOT doing that for the last few weeks. No particular need to face the crowds, so we didn't.

Like others, when cooled down (and unplugged, perhaps), we just scrub ours down with a damp, not dripping, well, plastic scrubber. Think along the lines of a sponge with a scotch-brite back.

Good morning, all. I hope everyone got plenty of rest last night. I got vape mail! I ordered 3 more of the Innokin Ares-2 tanks and they just arrived in this morning's mail. I ordered them on Dec. 7th and have been tracking them. I checked last night and they were still "in transit". I was going to check the status this morning after I had checked ecf and Ring notified me that someone had been detected at the front door. It was the mailman and the video showed him putting a package in my mailbox. I have everything staged on my desk to build a coil and prep one of the tanks for use. First I have to top off my caffeine level and clean the tank. I hope everyone has a good day.
I really need to press the reply button when I write a reply. The tank is now cleaned, hot water and a bit of Dawn, and drying on a paper towel. Again, have a good day.

I try to use reply, too. Sometimes I see a post that's obviously a reply to 'someone', probably back there a few pages and can't for the life of me find what post it's referring to.
