The big melt has hit here too except that we got 4" of snow today. It looked like a blizzard for awhile, but finally stopped and the temps went to 36. It'll be 30 overnight so there will be black ice, but it'll be 43 tomorrow and then 50 on Wed. Sounds good to me! Hopefully it's the last time Mike is going to have go fire up the snowblower this year.

25 days until Spring!!

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone has a good day today. Here's a reminder for anyone on medication.

Morning, loungers.

A summery 40 atm, heading back to 50... but supposed to be cooling off again tonight. The guess is that the snow level will drop to about 500', so we might see a bit more of it tomorrow morning. For now, it's just umbrella weather for the immigrants. Wide brim hats for the rest of us, to keep the glasses dry ;)

Good morning. 28 here, but going up to 55 today!

23 Days til Spring! Just saw this in the Farmer's Almanac. We'll see if they're right:

“Spring forward,” indeed! Overall, March will feature above-normal temperatures on average in most areas, with cooler-than-normal readings limited to the western United States, Quebec, and British Columbia. Expect below-normal precipitation in most areas in the western states, with near- or above-normal precipitation elsewhere.

Morning, loungers.

While a bit cooler here than yesterday, snow only dropped to around 1K', so we're in the clear. Just cold rain.

Hmm, while I've not checked recently, our snow pack is already at or above normal, but points south are still lagging. How's that work for the old farmers? ;)

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
Hola .. :)

This has been on my mind now for a while ..

I suppose in the Modern Age, many, if not most, nebulous online Communities / Threads are transient at some point .. there are, I know, valid reasons folks decide to eventually disconnect ..

When I joined ECF nearly 10 years ago now, early on, I settled in and decided that it would be a good home, since I really did not like Facebook for various reasons .. It was purely by accident that I even discovered ECF .. it was really in it's hey-day, fast moving, a lot of activity, a lot of people .. the original "Old Folks Thread" created by TXTUMBLEWEED / Randall Fortenberry, was, I know, what I stumbled upon soon after he created it .. we were a lively bunch, back then ..

Over those years, I don't know about anyone else, but, that activity has slowed substantially .. likely, partly due to the maturation of our shared Hobby / Lifestyle, but, I think, mainly because folks moved on, folks disconnected ..

The Reaper took some of us, other reasons are likely boredom, losing interest in what the forum is about, becoming disillusioned with the community, because all their friends have moved on, they were banned, they were ostracized, or at least felt that way, problems with the forum software, just plain got sidetracked by something else .. probably more reasons, but these come to mind ..

For me, I like to think that I'll continue on as long as I'm able, but, I don't know, no one can really say what the Future holds ..

You get to know people, and then poof, they are gone .. many don't even take the time to say good-bye .. I wish them well, I miss them, I miss being a part of some thin slice of their lives .. I wonder about them .. sometimes, I even wonder if it was me that drove them away ..

People make their own choices, I don't question them, I'm not going to try and chase them down, but it leaves a small void .. and the more that disconnect, the bigger the void ..

It's my sincere hope that, at some point, the last Post on this Thread is not "Please Turn the Lights Off When Leaving" .. and, that I appreciate each and everyone that has come, gone or stayed ..

I've always expressed my deep affection for Carole King, particularly her "Tapestry" album, for many long ago reasons .. I'll close with this ::

DH won the COVID-19 vaccination lottery today. First, a miracle occurred - he got right into the MA vaccination site and inside of 5 minutes he had an appointment for next week. Two hours later, he got a message from the hospital that did his heart surgery that they had appointments available for him as well. It's nice that the hospital is reaching out to their at risk patients. He cancelled the MA appointment and went with the the hospital, they have a satellite location that's convenient. Meanwhile, we didn't have any luck getting one for me. We'll try again next week when more appointments open up (I think I'll make him do it!).

@Uncle Willie - from your post to my car tunes -- Tapestry came up on my drive home today.

I sincerely appreciate the folks that are 'long haulers' here and miss the hey-day too. Please keep up the musings, they often speak to me. I should let you (and others) know that more often, rather than just a like. FWIW - over the years, there have been a few posts by some that I strongly disagreed with, other times I learned something I hadn't considered. Through it all, I still keep coming back to lurk.
