It's nice to know the 1st shot is so effective. There's always a small percentage of vaccines that don't "take" so the 2nd shot is a good thing.
The guy who gave us our first vaccine said to expect flu-like symptoms for a couple days. He said most people have them.We just learned on our county site that we signed up there on 2/16. They're now working on people who signed up on 2/13 so unless one of the other places we signed up at comes through it's probably going to be another couple weeks before we get an appointment. A woman I know in FL got her 2nd shot yesterday and said by the evening she felt like she'd been run over by a truck. Fever, chills etc. even with Tylenol. She didn't react like that with the first one. Isn't it weird to be anxiously waiting to get a shot that's going to make us sick?
CDC also says the first vaccine gives us about a 50% protection and the second one protects 95% but about a week later. They still recommend masks for the foreseeable future.
