Good morning, all. I hope everyone is having a good day so far.

Yesterday, I was lucky and found some free lumber that a neighbor had put out for big trash day. Once a month, we are allowed to put big items at the curb and the trash department will come by with a big claw and take the items to the landfill. It's all a part of our utilities. Of course, there are some restrictions but it is very convenient. The days before big trash there are pickup trucks and people with trailers driving around looking for items to recycle.

My plan for today is to go to Harbor Freight and get some sandpaper and other supplies for prepping the 2x4s for painting. I'm going to use them for a cat tree. I already have plywood to use for the base and shelves.

Good morning Fran. We have sunshine and blue skies and 43 degrees this morning. It's going up to 60 today!!

Our pesky raccoon must be back because our birdseed feeder was knocked over and emptied. I was bringing it in each night for awhile, but started leaving it out again. Guess he stopped by last night and found out I'd gotten too lazy to bring it in so he had a feast.

10 Days until Spring!!
Just a little information about raccoons. During the night, the raccoons have a roaming range of 1 mile looking for food and mates. If they find a food source they will remember it and return to that area nightly. If it isn't there, they will move on to another area. However, they will continue to return to a known food source usually nightly. I hate to say it, you have another member of your family waiting at the dinner table. Of course, you can talk to animal control and get a live-trap and move the raccoon to another area. It isn't advised to relocate the animal if it is a nursing mother. Animal Control will be best to make that decision.

I think he stopped coming because I was pretty regular about bringing in the feeder before going to bed. Then I forgot one night and all was fine in the morning. So, I decided to forget again just to see what would happen and that old .... didn't come back. Thought he'd left for good and then boom! He's back! Just like you described. So, I'll just start bringing it in again. He's not bothering anything else, just the feeder so I really don't want to relocate him. I'm just afraid one of these times he's going to knock that feeder off and really break it. I'd just filled the feeder with seed so he got quite a meal yesterday!

Good morning! It's a beautiful morning. The highs for the next 3 days are 62, 69 and 65 and I'm loving it! Although there's still a patch of snow on the back of the property, there is green grass growing in spots near the house. A friend in NJ said her crocus are up! Woohoo!

Anyone try this yet? It's to notify you about leftover doses that you can get.
Dr. B – Standby list for leftover COVID vaccines

Thanks. This looks like it could be a good idea, but what about the 2nd dose? There's no mention of it that I could find. Actually, when I first clicked on the link I got an error, but clicking the Home button took me to the site. I think I've got our names on enough local sites that we should be hearing from one of them soon. Every place we've sign up has a very long waiting list so I'd think if there were any shots left over they'd just have to contact the next person on their list.

Hola .. :)

I don't know what's up in PA as it relates to the vaccine .. it just seems like you and Mike have been seeking it for a while now with no results yet .. hopefully, that will change soon ..

Here, the State seems to have finally gotten it's act together, organizationally .. as opposed to before, when it seemed like you had to know someone in the Health Care arena in order to get in ..

I go in Friday morning for my 2nd Pfizer shot .. although I had nothing more than a slightly sore spot on my arm for a day after the first one, I have folks I know telling me mixed stories on the second one, nothing major, just a more noticeable reaction ..

At any rate, I'm going to get the second one in my other arm .. (sure, Willie, like that's going to be better ..) .. well, you never know .. o_O

It dawned on me the other day that I should have had a big batch of "I've Been Vaccinated" buttons made up and started pedaling those .. oh well, another missed opportunity .. I missed the Custom Mask Opportunity as well, and I'm sure some folks made some real money off those ..

I don't know if PA is getting it's act together yet. But a couple-few weeks ago PA was rated very low among the states for having a plan that was anywhere close to be effective yet efficient.

And per the stats anyway your state isn't doing much better. Maybe being a Vet and having access to the VA helped you along faster than Janet and me.

I just checked and our county is currently scheduling people who registered on 1/14. There were 19,501 people who signed up that day. On 1/15 there were 9,568 people who signed up. And then on 1/16, the day we signed up, there were 4,903 people who signed up. The county is getting 5000 doses per week (not counting healthcare or business registries). At that rate we've got another 6 weeks to wait although I'd think at least some of those have found shots elsewhere so the numbers should be lower. I don't know how to make those numbers any better, but I'm hoping one of the other places we've registered with will come through before the county gets around to us. Maybe the theory of sending vaccine to the county first instead of pharmacies etc didn't work as well as they thought.

Willie, there's still time to get those buttons made. I bet people would buy them to wear when they go out! I'd buy them from you! Might help when people make an obvious effort to stay away from me. Or maybe that's a good thing! I hate being crowded!

Mike, I live on the other side of the Mississippi .. although I don't think Illinois is beating the World down on vaccines, it is much better organized than it was ..

VA has not yet gotten to me, so I took the first I could get .. plan on cancelling my name off the VA list on Friday when I get the 2nd dose ..

Does it never fail. I get right in the middle of a project I have to run out and get more hardware. Good afternoon all. I have an old MTD gas edger/brush mower. I have had it since we bought our home in '97. I want to get it running so it can be used out at the farm. Yesterday I bought a motor at Harbor Freight and now I'm replacing the old motor. I don't have the right bolts. Auto Zone here i come.
