Morning, misfits.

A tad cooler here, but still over freezing. Barely. But heading back to the low 50s, still scattered sun. No complaints, and the snow level is still ok (actually a bit lower than yesterday.)

Speaking of which, Chey n Jazzy, along with Chey's awesome boyfriend, paid a surprise visit yesterday, they all came in two vehicles, so they already have taken a few things from the yard.

Nice that the yard art gets to a nice new home, rather than the trash! :thumb:

Good morning, all. It is going to be a great day as far as the weather goes. Temps will be high 60s today and low 70s tomorrow with no chance of rain. I'm not going to do any spring cleaning but I am going to turn off the heater, open the windows and turn on the attic fan to air out the house. I hope everyone has a good day.

Hola .. :)

Spent 8 hours on the yard yesterday .. succeeded in getting about 80% fully cleaned up, would have finished the rest but ran out of bags and did not feel like going to get more .. mulched the leaves that were still in the back yard, fixed a gutter downspout that had separated, sealed one corner of the gutters that had been dripping during rain ..

I've still got a pretty good mound of dirt and tree chips in the front from last years tree removal and stump grind .. can't quite figure out what to do .. I'd hoped it would have gone down more by now .. the mound is pretty soft when you walk on it ..

We were told by our tree guy when he ground out some stumps ... don't expect to re-seed it with grass seed unless you remove 4 to 6 inches of the ground stump and re-fill with soil. He says grass won't sprout and grow in the stump grindings even when it settles.

Might be that the soil there just needs some attention. Lots of firs here, and the issue with those is that the soil goes pretty acidic, which not all plants like.

Sprinkle well with the right stuff and wait another year ;)

I've got one 'stump' area about 4 feet in diameter. It's settled pretty much to 'ground' level. I'm going to try spreading an inch of top soil, then seed it, then another inch of top soil and see what grows. I'm not keen on taking 4-6 inchs out and refilling with all top soil.

I'll just hope the rotting wood chips act as fertilizer

DD just had 9 trees dropped. Tree company is grinding stumps and removing all debris.

Spending some dough right there ..

My tree guy removed all the main debris, the problem is the material that was buried during the grind .. they raked the surface, but over the months, with rain and snow, wood chips are miraculously floating up to the surface ..

All kinds of equipment here. They pushed the grinding up with a bucket and rake. They'll finish grinding tomorrow. Expensive, yes. $6500.00

Well, for 9 trees / removal and grinding, that's not too bad .. I paid $850 cash last year for one .. and that was after haggling .. he wanted $1200 ..

Cash talks, BS walks .. :p

I'm in my 3rd season after having one ground and it's starting to get green. First two yrs I'd go out after rain soaking and drive my mower over it several times and let the weight drive it down.

Whoa, that's going to let in a lot more light!

Yeah, those pesky wood chips hang around for awhile. Might be easier to shovel off some of it and dump on a couple bags of top soil. Or, you could plant a bush next to the spot and spread the debris around so it looks like it's mulch that's supposed to be there.

Good morning Fran. We have sunshine and blue skies and 43 degrees this morning. It's going up to 60 today!!

Our pesky raccoon must be back because our birdseed feeder was knocked over and emptied. I was bringing it in each night for awhile, but started leaving it out again. Guess he stopped by last night and found out I'd gotten too lazy to bring it in so he had a feast.

    10 Days until Spring!!

Good morning Fran, Janet, n Mike.

Woke up to bright sunshine again! And the snow is almost gone...except for the huge long mound on the edge of my front lawn, from the house to the street, which the maintenance man plowed, starting three houses to my left!
I mean.. couldn't he push it past the three houses to the right?!:D

Hope everyone has a good day!
