Hola .. :)

And this is where we have (d)evolved to .. paying for air .. I suppose it's likely a profit center when you figure all the places in the USA that have one of those machines ..

I know my mind lives too much in the past .. when I got out of the Military, I worked at a Station for a time .. pumped the gas, cleaned the windshield, and upon the Motorists request, checked the oil and the tire pressure ..

gas-station-808x455.jpg
I remember those days too.

The only good thing about paying for air today is that it was a set the pressure at the pump machine which made it easy to zip around the car doing all the tires. I did test it for accuracy with the old school pressure gauge that's kept in the glovebox. ;) If you believe the sign on the machine, they do donate the proceeds to a local charity.

I could have circled around to my local gas station (but it's in the wrong direction for work) and used their air at no charge - they have a no-frills hose on the side of the building and if the staff is bored they come over to help an old lady.

We were supposed to leave Monday on the road trip to pick up our puppy in MA, but the gas pipeline cyber attack is affecting our departure. Gas shortages everywhere up the east coast, mostly due to people hoarding. Showing up filling gas cans and illegal buckets! DH got the big van's tank filled today (after finding a station with gas and waiting for an hour to get to the pump). Florida gets most of it's gas by ship, so go figure. Looks like the pipeline is reopening, so hopefully by mid next week it will be over and we can hit the road!

Good morning. Wow, it was 38 outside this morning! I wasn't paying attention to the night temps, but the deck plants seems to be just fine.

It's going up to a sunny 66 today so that will be nice and the night temps are rising which means we should be seeing the cicadas in another week or so. The last time I remember this brood hatching we were driving home from somewhere in the south and pulled over at a rest stop in a wooded area. We actually had to raise our voices to hear each other over the cicada noise. I didn't know much about the ugly critters (they're big enough to my mind to call them a critter) back then, but I've been reading about them and they're pretty interesting.

Good morning..
Another sunny day..so far..and another battle=with-the=squirrels...damm, they're smart...I have four feeders on double poles with large baffles hanging off the bottoms to try to deter them..of course my home is backed up to the woods on a cul-de-sac, so they feel safe. (Obviously they don't know who they're dealing with...I WILL win...some day)

Hoping everyone has a great day!

Off to my bird watching=squirrel chasing..:D

Maybe you need some Fox or hawks to take care of your squirrel problem. It's the only thing I can think of for why we're down to 3 squirrels now. When you only have that many they're cute.

Morning, loungers.

Another dry and sunny day here, as well. Darn.

Gas shortages everywhere up the east coast, mostly due to people hoarding.

Yeah, eastern pipeline goes down, west coast prices spike... hope you can get the pup soon!

Cicada, America's locust...

Hola .. :)

I'm supposed to leave Monday or Tuesday to Myrtle Beach, unless this crazy gas situation somehow curtails the trip .. I'm not paying $10 a gallon, period .. in a truck that gets 17 MPG .. and, that's assuming you can get some ..

Good morning. It's a beautiful sunny morning ginghams up to 74 today! Woohoo! I'm getting my hair cut and then we're going to our daughter's to hang out. She's getting her 2nd Pfizer shot this morning so we're goin to hang out with her and the kids in case she has any side effects. It seems a lot of people do feel sick after the 2nd one and she's got a 2 and 4 year old and Brian won't be home until 9:00 tonight.

Hux got a "skater dude" haircut so I can't wait to see it in person. He wanted a lightning bolt in the side, but they said it was difficult to do - I think because it's hard to get both sides even. Funny, they go from crying while getting a haircut to wanting something very specific and difficult.

Morning, all.

Another hot and sunny day here, only thing liking it is the weeds. 10+ above average, rain a distant memory and an even further promise.

They did get it pumping sooner than hoped, so should be ok by then. :nun:

Good afternoon all. The weather guesers are saying there is a chance of storms tomorrow so I'm sitting outside with the generator running for the spring checkup. Neighbors probably think I'm crazy because I have a fan and a battery pack plugged into it. It isn't much but it is at least a bit of a load. Earlier I pumped the water out of the wimp celler just in case it is needed.

I hope everyone has a good weekend. Stay safe and we'll.

Hi all,

On the plus side, I didn't go into work today (although I did work from home early in the AM and late tonight).
On the negative side, I spent big $$$ - new brakes for the car and other sundry items (it's 11 yrs old with 104kmi so some things are sort of expected after all these years), a COSTCO stock up run, followed by a visit to the dentist about an implant (more $$$).

I'm looking forward to a little down time this weekend. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice (70+) so a walk with the DH is in order and some DIY mixing to maintain my stash, and relaxing on the porch as the DH grills dinner sounds good to me. I think I have repetitive motion pain in my shoulder/arm from last weekend as I did major vacuuming and cleaning. I hadn't done the usual routine the weekend before because I was working so the house was messier than normal. I may see if I can get DH to do the clean up this weekend. I'm betting against it, but it's worth a try.

Have a good weekend!

We wouldn't have thought it would be hard either. Hmmm, maybe I'll take some clippers to him while we're together at the shore. His hair is so blonde if I mess up hopefully it won't be too noticeable. Meanwhile, here's Hux with his new haircut.

Morning, all.

Another mid-summer day here, in late Spring... We might get a drop or two mid week. Maybe. Maybe still only what comes out the end of that long rubber tube.

COSTCO stock up run

Dang, can be a lot of sticker shot there, too! Since covid, we've changed from about every other week to once a month. Oddly, while it seems to be more, it's actually a tad less than the bi-monthly bill...

@MikeE3 , you're too late!

Hola .. :)

I dropped $700 on my 2011 truck in prep for my Road Trip .. the old girl still is a great truck, I like it, Chevy does not make it anymore and it's got one of the best engines Chevy ever made .. on the highway, it's smooth and quiet as silk .. and, these days, with Truck and Car prices to the point of the ridiculous, I'm not drawn to changing .. at all .. a buddy of mine dropped $80K on a new truck a couple weeks ago and I was not impressed .. I don't care for all the doo-dads, electronic this and that, big screen readouts, hell, the durn thing did not even come with a key, fercryinoutloud .. it was some fob gizmo and a push button start .. I wonder what those things cost if you can't find it .. ??

Maybe they'll end up making 'em where it recognizes your ...., and your .... only .. o_O

And, just a general factoid on brake jobs .. they are one of the most overcharged bits of maintenance out there .. in most cases, a brake job on one axle should be around $150-175 .. instead, they want to charge for new rotors, etc, and hit you for $600 clams for one axle .. always, always, hunt down an Old School honest shop that will turn your rotors, etc .. and, avoid Dealerships if at all possible, unless it's warrantee work ..

I've got another buddy that drives a Lexus SUV .. he pays $250 for an oil change .. it must be done at the Lexus dealer, because, otherwise, it voids the warrantee .. what a racket ..
