@oldbroad Kay if you ordered another SS1 see if you can send it back they just came out with the SS2. $30 more but might be worth the upgrade. I don't go there enough and didn't see this one coming. My 1 is still working well but I'm still going to think about it they only have 275 available on first order but I think I'll wait until they get the bugs worked out. Comes with lighted voice control air mouse. I thought of you as soon as I read this might be worth it since you are getting a spare any hoos.

Thanks for the info Pat...but i already have the new one and waiting on the one I broke to be repaired and sent back...I'm gonna keep it as a spare...hard to believe, I know, but i somehow manage to break many many things...
and I also got another remote..I also tend to "misplace" lots of things

Well...it's official....I have no heat... I've reported it... it remains to be seen how long it will take them to fix it. The digital thermostat they installed two years ago, appears to have died. Blank screen with no readout.... I know they won't want to send anyone out on the weekend, but dang!! On Monday the high is only predicted to be 56....

Generally the digital tstats take two AA batteries. They normally just pop of with a slight pull strait off the wall. Be gentle. You can mist likely change them yourself and have heat again.

Excellent tip....if there weren't a lock box on it preventing me any access... When it was installed, I was told that by law, they don't have to set it for any higher than 65....I talked him into 68. What's quite interesting is that I received a letter from the Borough that they will be doing an inspection next month and there was a form I was required to answer, fill out, and mail back. One of the questions..."does the heater maintain heat (minimum 70 degrees) ?...

Get a screwdriver and pop that box right off. I'll be damned if my landlord would tell me what I can set my thermostat at. What is this a tenament in the 20s!?

So far, following the old adage of "catching more flies with honey than vinegar" has worked... I did fill out the Borough questionnaire honestly, and worry that if they make the landlord bump the temperature up I'll be facing a rent increase...

I turned off the living room heat and turned on the bedroom heat. Fan on in bedroom to spin it out of there. Be danged if I am going to pay to be roasted out of my own place. I don't care if it reads 72 degrees, it is just too warm.

Gloomy and cold best describes today .. we're headed for a good freeze here in Fly Over Country tonight ..

PSA :: Today is National Chocolate Day, and I would be hard pressed to think of a food that is more deserving of a fictional Holiday than Chocolate .. .. tomorrow, it's National Cat Day .. the Cat lobby worked hard to carve out that day ..

I need to spend some time in the yard tomorrow, but heck, maybe I'll just lay around in my pajamas all day and watch "Stranger Things" season 2 on Netflix .. and eat some Chocolate ..

Again, I would like to thank all of you that took time from your busy schedules and spent some of it here .. it means a lot to me .. .. I could not ask for a better group of friends here around the Digital Campfire ..
