Morning, misfits.

Looks to be day time rain. Surprise, surprise.

From the latest maps, looks like the PNW is the only part of the western US that isn't in drought, so, no, no complaints. (Yet!) And the chatter is that we'll have (sort of) a normal summer, so maybe not the high temp records we blew out last year! (Where's the "fingers crossed" emoji?)

OMG Willie. I would give you a lot more than $25 for this house. I have always loved miniature houses. Years ago I wanted to build one but it never happened. I only managed to build two rooms which I still have. Here is one if them. 10” W x 16” long. Everything is hand-made.

And the brick on the fireplace is coarse sandpaper painted. The various pots are made from beads, wire, bottle tops etc.

That is indeed incredible work by someone with lots of patience and creativity. Nice, very nice!

So while Janet was away at our daughter's for a few days. I spent some time each day doing a real man's jigsaw puzzle.

Actually many years ago I acquired 9 1/2 pounds of loose Allen Keys in 2 cigar boxes when Janet's father died. At the time I put a spare set together for myself and the rest have been sitting for years.

So I sorted them into 4 more sets (from fairly complete to meh complete) and organized all the 'spares'.

IMG_1534.jpg

Then bagged them up.

IMG_1555.jpg

And put them back in their boxes.

IMG_1556.jpg

Now what to do with them. I can't just put them out with the trash, that doesn't seem right. I'll probably just try to find someone to give them to.

Greetings everyone. I'm back home for a week. Then I'll be going to our daughters house again for a couple days each week for the next 3 weeks. Brody is going to owe me big time in the coming years!! Actually I don't mind, but it is pretty tiring.

OMG Willie. I would give you a lot more than $25 for this house. I have always loved miniature houses. Years ago I wanted to build one but it never happened. I only managed to build two rooms which I still have. Here is one if them. 10” W x 16” long. Everything is hand-made.

Bea, that's gorgeous! Nice job! Very professional looking. Uh oh, are you getting the itch now to add another room?

I didn't hear about her passing. They had a concert coming up, I was thinking I might try to go to Nashville for it.

Hola .. :)

Yeah, I thought it was a little odd that they were planning a tour when, poof, Naomi passed .. and, the initial press release said of 'mental illness' .. ??

At any rate, it was back in the late 1980's or early '90's that I ran sound for The Judds at the old Busch Stadium in St. Louis .. Naomi was gracious and down home, she even went outside the Stadium for a time and signed autographs for the fans .. Wynonna, not so much ..

My favorite tune of theirs ??

Thank you Janet. If I felt good enough I probably would but I'm afraid that my days of lots of daily energy are behind me.

Your kids are so lucky you can help them so much with their kids.

I believe it was suicide so maybe she timed it that way, I dunno.

Thank you so much for sharing those pictures. Your detail was truly amazing to see. I do understand but I am sorry you do not have the energy/desire to continue such lovely work. It must have brought you great joy at the time and that does mean so much.

I saw some eye drops for allergies the other day.
Thanks. If the pollen does not skedaddle soon, I may have to find some drops to help. A friend on here just told me of some drops made from quail eggs that had good reviews. Of course, my luck, Amazon is out of stock. Well, it is the season so I understand. It was fascinating to read about it though. I love to google!

That comment reminded me that I saw a commercial for drops to help people see up close better called Vuity. I am weird when it comes to new and improved. Most of the time the side effects scare me more than the problem I am having.

We did try to find it again. That field was ripe with rabbits, so it got to be a weekend thing for us. I always used my stepdad's 16ga double-barrel shotgun. My mom gave it to me when he passed on. Finding shells for it is getting to be a challenge.
My stepdad was raised on the farm, and he too tromped all over the neighboring farms.
Well, I hate it was never found. I love old shotguns myself. I have a Fulton 20 gauge double barrel made by Hunter Arms. The man it belonged to has long be gone so I am thinking it is pretty old. I should probably google that. heehee It is on my bucket list to shoot it one day. hunter.gif

Good morning. It's 52 outside this morning and looking cloudy, but we're not supposed to get rain today. When I stepped out on the deck to put out a suet cake it was so lovely to hear all the birds chattering away to each other. Morning birds sounds are happy, peaceful sounds.

I put out the hummingbird feeders yesterday. Hopefully they'll be showing up soon.

Thank you Janet. If I felt good enough I probably would but I'm afraid that my days of lots of daily energy are behind me.

Your kids are so lucky you can help them so much with their kids.

Hopefully, given a little time, you'll regain your strength and be able to get back to doing more.

The thought of 3 year old Brody bargaining with his mother to not send him to daycare was breaking my heart. He hated it so much and that was so unlike him. Once he was there he behaved and did what he was told to do, but you could see in the pictures the teachers would send out that his little face was not happy. He loves pre-school though and next year he'll be going 5 mornings a week so he's happy about that. I'm so glad we're able to help out right now. I never knew my grandparents so it's been important that our grandchildren know who we are and enjoy being with us.

    Good morning, all.

I can't remember where I read about them but there is a group that goes around using butcher paper and charcoal, they make a copy of the gravestones to preserve a record of the markers. Back in the early '70s my stepbrother and I were rabbit hunting in the fields of a neighbor's land and found a marker from the late 1800s. When we got home and told his dad about it, he knew nothing of the marker, and we couldn't find it again when we went out for another hunt.

How cool! My mom used to do something similar when she was big into genealogy. She and another cousin were helping with a big book of family history, and they went to several old cemeteries. If the stones were hard to read because of moss, she would just clean them off with a brush and some bleach water. If the stone looked like it might be really brittle, or hard to read even after a cleaning, she would just use parchment paper (maybe, not really sure) and some type of charcoal or big pencils. I was kind of little at the time and would be off playing while she and her cousin did all the hard work!

Too bad you could never run across that marker again! They are so interesting. It always makes me pause for a minute to think about who that person may have been, and what their life might have been like that long ago.

In the picture below, I am not trying to show you the beautiful Rhodadendrian in bloom although I have always liked them. I wanted to show you the light pole.

Even though last year one of the bulbs burned out, it is a very good light. When I was young, my parent would go to auctions. They enjoyed bidding and buying. I would enjoy the hotdogs at the concession stand. Well anyway, this particular night, this light went up for sale and the only one that would bid on it was my dad.

So I am showing you our light that cost $1. 20220503_123526.jpg

The peonies (I say pee-onies) are starting to bloom. Only the white ones so far though. I can't wait till the hot pink ones bloom. They are my favorite. I guess they are sort of like me. . . a late bloomer. I have not bloomed yet, but I will. 20220503_123454.jpg 20220503_123359.jpg

As you see, I enjoyed my walk this morning. Hope everyone is having a good day.

I at first thought it was a birdhouse on top of the pole. I always like the looks of, what are they, martin houses? Yep, another good find by a forum member. I need to get out and look for some bargains. Nancy didn't like going to garage sales when we first got married. I was off work one day when we lived in San Mateo, CA. I went for a bicycle ride and went by a garage sale. I found a grocery bag full of Romance Novels that she loved reading. When I told her I paid a dollar for the bag of books she never objected to stopping at garage sales after that.
I've been watching a new western series on AMCPLUS, That Dirty Black Bag. It is a surprisingly good series. I'm also starting another, Tokyo Vice on HBO Max. It brings up some memories from when I lived in Japan working as liaison with the Japanese police.
