Morning, all.

No rain here, temp still about 10 or so over normal. They do claim that it will start to go down, after today. As in maybe a couple degrees lower each day.

My grass is so crispy and turning brown I finally broke down and started watering it 2 nights ago.

Probably good to keep it green, for the "curb appeal".

And I'm familiar with low water pressure ;)

Hola .. :)

The rain continues at a much more moderate pace .. :)

If you Netflix .. the semi-docudrama 'Framing John DeLorean', for me anyway, was fairly riveting .. having watched it unfold back in the day VIA News and Newspapers, it was quite revealing to enjoy this deep dive into the story .. I always wanted a DeLorean, but the practical side of me always talked me out of trying to get one ..

'If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour... you're gonna see some serious $%#@ ...'

Just doing a little rat flyby to say hello to everyone.

Lots of evening thunderstorms and showers here. Suppose to be that way the rest of the week. The grass loves it (much more than me).

There seems to be a small improvement in dad. He has not been near as confused as often as he was. For that, I am most grateful. I think his compression fracture in his back must be improving also. He is taking much less Tylenol but still wants to sleep in his recliner since he says the bed hurts his back. I asked to sleep in his bed since he was not using it but he said no. Can you believe that? Sheesh! I am not a bedwetter so why not? I hope I did not just jinx myself.

I have been getting less sleep than I ever have and it is definitely being to catch up with me. By mistake, I put the wrong attachment on my personal trimmer. Thought I was going to trim my eyebrows and after the first little swipe, realized what I had done. What else could I do? So I shaved the other one off. Just call me Whoopie! I will be thankful when they grow back. Not because I am vain (because I could care less how funny I look) but boy do they serve a purpose. It took me two days to figure out why I was getting sweat in my eyes so bad while I was walking and trying to read my book. Looking on the bright side. . . I will not make that particular mistake again.

Something along the line of carpal tunnel syndrome. I am not a fan of surgery.
So sorry to hear about your hands. I am not a big fan of surgery either but I will say I am glad I had carpal tunnel surgery on both my hands. It was a super easy one. After I got those fixed, I ended up having cubital tunnel syndrome and had to have my elbow operated on. It was a little more bothersome because of the six-week soft cast. But since then, I have had no problems. I sure hope your issues will improve with therapy but if not, you just do whatcha have to do. Sending good thoughts to you.

Thinking of you all and hope everyone is having a great week and staying cool. I'll be back when I can. Thanks again for any good thoughts sent to me and my eyebrows!

Morning, all.

Yep, heat continues, although thanks (?) to some smoke from CA fires we didn't quite reach yesterday's guessed high. More of the same.

There seems to be a small improvement in dad. He has not been near as confused as often as he was.

Good to hear! Hope his recovery continues, AND that you can get some sort of R&R for yourself. If you go "down", who's going to care for his needs??

something to ponder about today:

re: one's avocation: "whether you arrive at your destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you're always busy, and you never do anything in particular; and when you've done it there's always something else to do, and you can do it if you like, but you'd much better not." -- Kenneth Grahme's, "The wind in the Willows"

Thanks, Willie, I have a hard enough time keeping the actual lawn cut.

I'm a bit better at typing than I have the past week or so. Still not worth a darn using the small text on the phone. Oh well, I will take my battles one front at a time.

Who else has gone their whole life not realizing the major interstate highways are in numerical order?

Not me. But, I've never seen such a clear map of the interstates (and I have looked). Thanks.

So that's what they're for!

In case nobody noticed, the exit numbers on the interstate highways correspond (closely) to the mile markers.

Yay! Mike is a Rainmaker!! He spent all day yesterday moving the sprinkler around to the delight of our crunchy, brown grass. Sure enough Last night after getting in bed I heard it raining hard outside. Had a pretty nice day today even if it was awfully humid. At dinnertime the skies opened and we've been getting a steady rain.

Tori, next time don't ask if you can sleep in his bed. If you know he'll stay put in his recliner, just sleep in his bed. What he doesn't know won't hurt him and you've certainly earned a good nights sleep.

I'm still laughing about the eyebrows!! There's always eyebrow pencil or wear a visor if you feel the need. Start a new fashion trend! This year is the first time in my life I've had to use the pencil because my eyebrows are disappearing all by themselves. Don't know where they went but I wish they'd take my leg hairs with them.

Yes, I did notice that and it totally threw me off because I knew the old exit numbers just fine. Of course when it comes to going somewhere I'm lost before I start. I was born without directional genes so even stairs can confuse me.

Today has been somewhat intense. Hubs is from eastern KY, and I saw a blurb on my preferred news website this morning about flooding in that area. I sent the article to Hubs and he was confident his family was ok, water doesn’t get that high in their area, etc. A couple hours later I came across more news about it, and this article included drone video of an area about five miles away from his parents’ house. It was just horrendous. I recognized the gas station where we had bought cigarettes a few times by the blue roof, which was just barely sticking up out of the water. Hubs was shocked - he said he’d have NEVER imagined the water could even get so high there.

Phones, internet, and cell service weren’t working so he couldn’t reach anyone for several hours. He was finally able to get texts from his sister an hour or so ago. Everyone is ok but they have no power or water. There were some landslides close to his parents’ house, but so far nothing is sliding down the mountainside they live on. We’re hoping and praying everything holds together. He has a couple of friends he’s concerned about, but he was very relieved to hear his family was okay.

The only other thing I have to report is that I’m SUPER HAPPY that tomorrow is Friday! I hope you all have a good night

Morning, misfits.

Hope all his friends are ok as well. Yeah, grim. And "extreme" weather is what's in stock for us all, now.

Heat continues here, at least until Monday, at which time they claim we'll return to "normal" temps. Uh huh. Maybe.

Yay! Mike is a Rainmaker!! He spent all day yesterday moving the sprinkler around to the delight of our crunchy, brown grass. Sure enough Last night after getting in bed I heard it raining hard outside.

I've always speculated that droughts could be broken if enough people washed their cars. :)
