Morning, all.

Another day in the oven for us. Maybe only one more after this, although the big drop in temp for Monday isn't as big any more...

But no floods or fires, so I won't complain. Much. ;)

Who else has gone their whole life not realizing the major interstate highways are in numerical order?

View attachment 977910
I think I knew that from the first (1950s or so) when the first Interstates were being built. It's also true to a certain extent of the US highways. If you've ever noticed US-1 runs up and down the east coast while US-101 does the same on the west coast. US-2 runs along the north border and US-98 is generally fairly far south as far as it goes. Ends with 1 is supposed to be N-S; ends with 0 supposed to be E-W. Not quite as regular as the Interstates.

Off the sweep the pool and setup the umbrella and pool side chairs. Both families are coming over today to celebrate Katies birthday. Michael's bringing his new propane pizza oven. That should be fun making homemade pizza.

Then the coming week is going to be quite busy for Janet and me. Michael is leaving Miles and Beckett behind to spend a week at Nana and Pop Pop's house. Me thinks I'm going to be worn out by the end of the week trying to keep up with a 5 and 6 year old. But it should a fun week for all of us. We survived doing it last year and Michael's says the boys are looking forward to it again this year.

Yep, still hot, although the claim is, still, that it will back off tomorrow. Always tomorrow.

Me thinks I'm going to be worn out by the end of the week trying to keep up with a 5 and 6 year old.

 No doubt! And yes, good times.

With Gracie's permission [Flowersoul], I'm letting you all know that she's been through a major event recently and is now in a rehab center in St. Augustine. She supposed to be there for approx. 3 weeks.

She called me last Monday morning to let me know that on July 20th, she'd passed out and fallen that afternoon, between her bed and the wall. She laid there until Thursday night when her daughter found her, and she was rushed to the hospital in St. Augustine. They diagnosed her with Sepsis and she immediately began receiving treatment for it. The doctor had confirmed she no longer had it on Monday. [Some info on Sepsis: Sepsis is the body's extreme response to an infection. It is a life-threatening medical emergency. Sepsis happens when an infection you already have triggers a chain reaction throughout your body. Infections that lead to sepsis most often start in the lung, urinary tract, skin, or gastrointestinal tract.]

When I spoke to her at 5:30PM today, she said they'd found that a kidney infection was to blame. She'd had NO inkling of it...nor that she had 7 stones. She was moved to the rehab center to continue her care, to help her get her bearings back, etc. Once they confirm there's absolutely no more infection...they'll deal with removing the stones. Today she sounded much better and more like herself. Said it was the first time she was physically able to even get into a wheelchair, which was a highlight of her day.

With her typical sense of humor, she added that it dawned on her that she was now a perfect example of those "Help...I've fallen, and I can't get up" commercials. When I heard that, I knew she was feeling more like her old self today. :)

With her permission, I'll keep you updated as I know more.

I have to say that I can't believe we're coming up on August already ..
A maxim I once heard: "If you have a summer to-do list and it's the 4th of July, better get cracking because summer's almost over." It sounds like an exaggeration, but I've found it to be fairly true. If I haven't mostly got things done by the 4th, they don't get done.

So, if you still have things to get done this summer, it's screaming-deadline time.

Thanks so much for letting us know ... even if it was terrible news to hear. Please let her know lots of love and prayers are coming from her ECF friends. That had to be scary for her laying there and not being able to call for help. Thankfully her daughter got there to get her the immediate attention she needed.

Well yesterday might have been the last big hooray at the Ebner's. A combo pool party, make your own pizza party and birthday party for Kate. Just a shame Brian was off flying an airplane someplace and couldn't be there. So glad the weather co-operated, it was a wonderful day and everyone certainly enjoyed themselves.

Michael's pizza oven was a big hit. Each grandkid got to make their very own pizza. What a hoot, watching them prepare it.

I couldn't figure out what picture(s) to post so you're getting the full blown digital version of the day.

    Hope the link works properly.

    Morning, all.

The claim is that the heat will reduce today, but so far it doesn't look like it. Overnight cooling was minimal...

When I heard that, I knew she was feeling more like her old self today.

Thanks for the update, and yes, if she's gotten her sense of humor back, a VERY good sign!!

I'll definitely pass that along to her.

She was scared, and she's absolutely going to have one of the Life Alert devices when she goes back home.

A good idea. Janet and I wear Apple watches. If a fall is detected and no motion is detected for 30 seconds it sends out a call for Emergency services, and then another call to your designated family members. You can also manually trigger these actions by holding in the crown button and initiate the calls.

Sometimes it works too good. When I'm out working in the yard with yard equipment chain saw, hedge trimmer, even pushing a wheel barrow certain movements seem to trigger the 'fall alert'. I then can respond I fell but I'm OK or I didn't fall. I guess it's better to be too sensitive then not sensitive enough.

And actually Janet and I have both tripped over our own clumsy feet and fell at least once and the alarm was triggered. So we do have a degree of confidence in it.

And the heart rate monitor will alert Janet if she's going into AFIB. Her cardiologist actually recommended an Apple watch for this if it was affordable (as the dang things ain't cheap).

    Hola .. :)

A relative happy ending for Gracie .. I'm sure she will be back at 100% before you know it .. can't keep a good woman down ..

I don't know if anyone watches 'Stranger Things' on Netflix, it's kind of a guilty pleasure for me .. at any rate, some of the cast appearing with James Corden showed that they are not too bad in the singing department ::
