@Uncle Willie, excellent version of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"!!! I usually watch all the videos Playing For Change pops on YouTube. They have a couple pretty good concert videos by the Playing For Change band up there as well.

You've probably seen this version of "All Along The Watchtower"???

ETA: And, ummm, yeah... turn it up and hopefully not on laptop speakers.

My stories are more likely to revolve around more obscure guitars .. such as an Oahu Publishing / Kay 1930's Acoustic with Checkerboard Binding that I fully restored .. the thing just had mojo coming out of it even when it was a basketcase ..

I saw the photo of the checkerboard guitar you posted here last November. Is that the same one you are referring to???

Here is a photo of a checkerboard bound guitar I have in my workshop currently, also for restoration .. it dates from the 1930's and came up from the Delta to Chicago, having been in the hands of a few Bluesmen ..

Did you post a photo of it after you restored it??? Did a quick search but couldn't find it if you did. I sure would love to see your work.

<<<gulp>>> Who would do such a thing???

Laptop speakers are a few notches above the old transistor radio I had when I was a kid. I bought mine with money I earned from a paper route. Thought I was pretty cool carrying it around back then with its single earpiece.

It was good for listening to the baseball games.

Good morning people! We're finally getting the rain we needed. I can almost hear the grass singing. Rained pretty hard overnight and just looks like a rainy day here now. Scattered showers for tomorrow.

I'm back at our daughter's to watch the littlest grandson. He doesn't start school until the 12th. So here we are stuck inside on a rainy day. I got the kitchen cleaned up and the floor steam mopped - that should get me some brownie points. What is a brownie point anyway?

Good morning. Gotta love the perseverance of squirrels. I don't mind them as much as the rabbits coming into the yard and devouring everything.
Our squirrels ate my 15 year old jade plant and then started on my other potted plants. If they're not eating them they're digging around in the pots. Our rabbits never did that much damage, but then again, our rabbits have disappeared so they haven't been a problem.
Deal of the Day ..

Morbid .. ?? Maybe .. however, if your plan is Cremation, why not save some real shekels as you exit this World and stash your Cremation Urn now .. just a thought but at $21 clams and change, it's a deal and has to beat whatever the Funeral Home is charging ..

What ever possessed you to look at cremation urns? Maybe you need to get out more Willie...

Young tends to stick with guitars .. I do too in my own stash .. and, although I can't speak for Young, I'd venture to guess that D-45 was an indulgence from when he was really starting to make some money .. I just never felt like his style was that flashy, blinged out Martin ..
What about a D-35 with the original case? Our friend in MA has one that he's planning on giving to his son. If it's worth enough maybe he'll change his mind.

New, around $3400 .. these Martins generally always include a case .. I don't know the year on your friends or condition, so can't say on used ..

You mean you two have not done any pre-planning .. ?? o_O
Yep, We've got our plots, but I've changed my mind and would prefer cremation. Now we have to sell our plots of land. Weird. I'd be fine with scattering my ashes to the wind, or scatter them among the wild flowers, but I'm leaving that to the family in case they want a specific spot to visit.

My instructions are to scatter my ashes while standing in the middle of the Eads Bridge over the Mississippi and allow them to mingle within the muddy waters as they make their way to Memphis, Natchez, New Orleans and the Gulf ..

Yep, We've got our plots,

That was the first real estate I owned out right without borrowing money or having a mortgage payment. I always figured if worst came to worse in our lives I could pitch a tent there and live as a squatter on my own 'land'.

It sits on a hillside with a nice view.

Hola .. :)

Thanks for the tip .. looks like they have no menthol .. one of the reasons, in my laziness, I used myfreedomsmokes was they offered a 48mg menthol in a 70/30 mix and all I had to do was dilute it down to 10-12mg and add a little of my own menthol or coolada and I was good to go and it was very cheap ..

I've got a rather large 100mg nic stockpile in the freezer, so I guess I'll have to force myself to break out some and mad scientist it ..
Central Vapors [ centralvapors.com ] in McKinney, TX has 100mg/ml in either PG or VG, but no over-strong menthol and no mixed base that I could see.

I'm lucky; mixing down is simple for me. I start with 100mg/ml in PG and add half as much VG (two parts PG-100 to one part VG-0) to end up with my super-strong 67mg/ml in 67/33 mix. Just one more benefit from going flavorless: no mixing complications.

And for those who question the strength - this is the result of some serious long-term testing on my part. This is the strength that results in me using the least amount of nicotine per day (around 70 mg/day) over the past 6 years. Before I upped the strength it was closer to 200 mg/day, since I was chain-vaping all the time. Now, 3 or 4 puffs in a row will last me for 20 minutes to an hour before the urge strikes again. It saves on e-juice, too; only a bit over 1 ml per day. (This means the 3 liters I picked up from Central Vapors adds about 12 years to my stash. Since I doubt that I'll ever be a centenarian, this assures me of a lifetime's supply.)

Morning, misfits.

Still sunny here, decent temps for another couple days, but only mid 80s for the weekend. Still no rain.

Having been so dry, the fall pruning has begun, so lots to gather and stage for a later bonfire. Need a lot of rain first!

Whew, finally made it home. Our youngest grandson, Brody, is such a sweetie, especially when his mother is not around. He's definitely a Mama's boy, but he's going to be a force to be reckoned with when he gets older.

Yesterday especially was just nuts-all day long. When the day was done and the boys were finally asleep our daughter and I both enjoyed a glass of whiskey and then collapsed in bed.
