Morning, all.

Yeah, weather still on repeat, although they claim the temps will start to go back down towards normal. Some places around the Sound were, uh, 25 over that, yesterday!

So, each day I wake up stressed, depressed, and overwhelmed. It's become my new normal.

Hola .. :(

The uprooting from the old Homestead, combined with the apparent inability to find an acceptable next abode must be quite painful ..

I can't offer any advice .. keep the stress meds handy ..

If it were me, I would not shy away from a place that met most of the main criteria .. if it needs some work, well, if that's what it takes ..

Good morning, all. Since losing weight, I've had to buy some new pants. I have four pairs of 42" waist and 4 pairs of 44" waist in my closet. I found some Wranglers I like so I bought a pair on Amazon and liked how they fit. I ordered two more pairs; I hate how much they cost but I realize it is a cost that I can't avoid putting off any longer. I just wish I knew someone that could wear them. I think I will make a call to the American Legion. I guess I will do a closet cleaning and put some of my slacks and shirts in the bags that will no longer fit. I also heard about another color, too. I had to do a Google search on the color "Loden".
Nothing else has been going on so I think I'll just close this and write more later if something important comes along.

Good chilly morning. 37 here and there's a freeze warning for the next 10 days. The trees are suddenly all turning. Time to get out the leaf blowers!

We agree. We're looking at homes not only with the idea of what we could change, but can we afford to make those changes. Location seems to be the big problem. Even our house is going to undergo some changes. Our buyers are coming here with their contractor on Thurs to discuss possible changes and I'm excited to hear what they want to do.

Meanwhile we continue to sort and pack. Good grief! The cost of moving boxes is nuts! So I got on our Nextdoor site yesterday and searched and low and behold there's an import place in a nearby town with lots of boxes of all sizes. Guess where I'm going today!!

We had a mover come yesterday and he gave us a pretty good quote to not only move our stuff to climate control storage, but also to move our bed and dresser to our daughters and then move our stuff from storage to our new house when we find it. It comforted me to know someone else was going to handle all that. Now we just have to sync our schedules and decide when it's going to happen. Shortly before or after Thanksgiving I think. Yikes! T-day is not that far away! Actually, about now I'd like to go on vacation somewhere and come back when it's all done...

Yep, we've got the same problem. I've lost 34 lbs and Mike has lost 40+. We've got piles of pants in different sizes. We called Vietnam Vets for a pick-up so that's where the bigger sizes are going. We also have Liberty Thrift (run for the benefit of inmates in our local prison) and there's also a Good Will nearby. We just had a pick-up by the Vets yesterday and I've got another pick-up scheduled in 2 weeks. I like doing this because I know what we get rid of is going to be used by someone so we're not just throwing the stuff in the trash. They take small electronics and household items and tools so it's pretty convenient. Just bag it up, put it at the end of the driveway and Poof! Gone!

Also, Mike has been on FreeCycle and also the Market Place on Fb to get rid of stuff and that's worked out great. Sometimes he even gets money for stuff he's getting rid of so he's building up some cash for later.

A bit of a break on the temp, it's heading back down to "normal", but still no rain. They do keep making hopeful noises, though.

Yes, good to know it's going to "a good home", rather than just... somewhere. :thumb:

Hola .. :)

Well, it's a good problem to have ..

I, weather permitting, have a routine that, knowing many Sundays I will work in the yard, have my 'Sunday Yard Clothes' .. for warm/hot times, it's old cargo shorts and a tank top, for colder times, it's old jeans and a long sleeve work shirt and an old jacket ..

At any rate, it was time to move into the Sunday Cold Weather garb this past weekend and I just grabbed the clothes not paying any attention .. we'll, the shirt was OK but the jeans were like baggy Clown pants, I could have jumped off a cliff and they would have acted as a parachute .. having gone from 220 to 176 in the last year ..

At any rate, I just wore them with a belt anyway, since I'm not out to make a fashion statement in the 'hood ..

Lastly, it's Levis for me, regular fit, 501's .. currently a very good fit at SZ 36 waist / 32 inseam ..

I like where I'm at weight wise, don't know if I want to go any lower .. although, as Steve Tyler put it ::

'Every time that I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face getting clearer .. '

That's kinda the downside .. no fat face, more wrinkles ..

Oh, sorry, it's more 'character' .. ;)

I got new teeth, maybe it's time for a facelift ..

You ever look into those pod things they set in the drive way, you pack it and then they haul it away to storage, bringing it to the new place when you're ready .. ??

I always thought who ever came up with that idea had a stoke of genius ..

Use 'em to store the raked up leaves? ;)

Yeah, lots of "don't go to town in these" clothes for yard work as well. Heck, as long as they provide some protection from the burs and thistles, it's all good.

Well, I'd be lyin' if I did not admit to going out in public at times in my Hobo clothing .. because, I really, really don't care .. people around here wear pajama pants .. in fact, I once saw a young woman at the Walmart in what I could swear were panties and a tube top ..

Trust me, she could not pull it off .. (and be glad she didn't) ..

You've no idea ... I mowed he lawn, all of it in one shot. I kept looking at the one trees and saying geez I planted that and it was only 3 ft tall. Now they're like 40-50 ft tall (groves of them). I got pretty melancholy looking at every bit of property knowing I'll be leaving it next month. It's a chore to take care of ... but oh so nice to look at from the back deck. I was actually kind of depressed by the time I was done, not thankful that the job was completed. Yep, I've got a stash of different mind pills and I don't hesitate to take 'em when things get the better of me.

Yeah but ... they drop off the pod but you have to load it. I don't have the muscle or stamina to move the heavy furniture, yet alone all the boxes. And I'm not sure you can get them stored in a climate controlled storage facility. And then there's the unloading when you get it delivered to the 'next place'. We considered it and decided not for us.

I had an acquaintance who used a POD to move from the midwest to southern CA. His pod got stuck for a couple-few week in Nevada (in the summer). Most everything in the POD was ruined do to being cooked in the Nevada heat. He had a devil of a time getting reimbursed for all the damaged goods.

I boxed the stuff up and paid a moving company to load it in the pod. They will also come in and pack it if you want. They have storage facilities but I don't know about climate control since I didn't use that.

Weight loss is good for my health (although you cannot tell from my last physical) but I will admit it has caused several other issues I have no control over that I was not expecting. I have lost 60 lbs and had to buy a new wardrobe. What was not completely worn out has been donated to a church outreach center. The sweet ladies that work there donate their time so all the profits help someone. I feel good about that.

So..... how did the evening go?
I had an absolutely wonderful time. I did not know what to expect but it was just a cookout. Hamburgers and hotdogs and all the sides. They had the biggest, most gorgeous fire pit I have ever seen. I am guessing there were 25-30 people there. There was live entertainment. I enjoyed watching the man sing and play the guitar. It was more fun watching the karaoke after he left. There was a guest who had his guitar and his wife had a beautiful voice. There was another lady that did a fantastic job too. (there were no shower stalls, so I did not participate)

When we got in line, my friend got in front of me. I was mentally deducting points but then he handed me a plate and asked me what I wanted. He fixed everything on my plate for me. I have never had anyone do that for me and I must say, he ended up getting quite a few points added.

There was a border collie there that would not let anyone touch him although everyone tried. I am not sure why but for some reason the dog liked me. His owner went around the whole night telling everyone that Sam (the dog) rolled over and let me rub his belly. I think the dog knew I was hoping I would not do anything to embarrass anyone and made it special for me. When Jay announced that we were headed out, I cannot tell you how many of his friends came over and hugged me goodbye and said they were so glad I came. I am not sure if my new black sparkly half boots were touching the pavement or not as I walked away. It was a wonderful night.

I guess I did okay at the party because he called me out of the blue today and wanted to take me to lunch. I was at Targets shopping when he called and let me tell you, there quite possibly could have been smoke coming out of my behind as I left that store without buying what I went in there to get. heehee He took me again to my favorite restaurant and we split the Cowboy Burger again. It was officially our 6th date (yes, I have a list) and he said he would call me later on in the week, and if I did not have any plans, he would like to take me out. I am already looking forward to going out with him again. He is playing golf tomorrow for 4 hours. I asked him if he needed a caddie but he just laughed. I guess he thought I was kidding. I was not.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Thank you, Fran. I am more excited now about dating now than I was when I was a teenager. Probably because I am not thinking about marriage this time. I won't say never but I can't see myself doing it again. Even if Aquaman got down on one knee, I'd get a prenup. I'll never go through what I did again. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. bahahahahaha
