A few days ago, Dolly Parton was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame .. when the initial announcement was made, she wanted to decline, but the criteria was explained to her and she decided to go with it .. I have to say, although I pretty much love all things Dolly Parton, I had to agree with her declining, at least initially ..

She did and absolutely incredible job at the ceremony and had an original rock tune to display that was quite good .. there is no video worth a crap on line (yet), but you can search and find a few bad videos that give you an idea .. the show was on HBO MAX, in case you've got that ..

One truly amazing factoid is, when performing her new rock tune, she played a $99.00 guitar .. and, she actually was playing it, which is what she does .. of course, it had a few modifications, but it's not the first time she's used a cheap guitar in a concert .. I think the cheapest was a $69.00 guitar ..

The woman can rock, and she can do it inexpensively ..

Morning, misfits.

Down to 28 overnight, heading to a blistering 45... but the rain is on vacation for a bit.

Going to be nice to not have all the campaign calls, and commercials.... :)

Yes, I'm still alive. Took some time out this morning to catch up on 9 days of postings. I don't even feel like I live in this house anymore. My dad and I built that when I was around 10 or 12. It had mountains an tunnels and could run multiple sets of trains at the same time. Oh, and my beloved John Deere ... at least it went to a good home.

Had a wonderful yesterday. A friend took me to Calibers, which is an indoor shooting range. I have been wanting to check it out since there is no place close by to practice. $249.00 for a year and $200 for a veteran, first responder, military etc. I really liked it when the guy told my friend that if I was interested in getting a membership with his that it would only be $125 for me.

A lightbulb blew out over the kitchen table where I was working on that d#&m lamp. So that has been delayed temporarily. Haven't been home long enough to change it. heehee Then yesterday morning while I was getting ready for my outing with my friend, my hair dryer went kapooey. Guess that takes priority over the lightbulb so that is this morning's mission.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday.

The bolded items on the list of 'gone stuff' was difficult to let go.
I am sorry it has been difficult for you to let go of those precious items. I have given away some stuff but have not had a chance to really get into it. I may be sad at some point but I think I am more attached to the memories than I am the items. If I am not going to use something, I get comfort knowing someone will. Like those blankets I made for my mom and I gave to the Jehovah Witness. I am tickled that they went to a home where they could be enjoyed for a little longer.

Isn't it sort of special to know that that train platform that meant so much to you is going to make another good memory for another child? I personally, think it is wonderful and you are so lucky.

As usual, I have a different perspective on most things.

Think of this as making room for new memories and thankful you have to time to make them and someone special to share them with.

You're spot on. The young man who took the train platform was excited to get it in time to spruce it up and all for his son in time for the Holidays.

The man who took the John Deere was in a bind ,,, he had to clear an 1 1/2 acres for a reveal 'bomb'. The guests had to be a safe distance from the 'explosion'. His tractor died and they wanted 1000's of $'s to repair the transmission. He got in touch with me later that night and said he just finished the mowing and what a great running tractor it is. Duh! That's what I told him when I sold it to him. But it was nice to get the feed back,

The woodworker from Philly who bought the table saw told me ... I know how hard it is to part with tools. So, 4 or 5 month's from now when you get settled if you want it back, just get in touch with me and I'll sell it back to you.

Yep, I'm getting some satisfaction making other people happy.

Dolly Parton is incredibly talented and evidently a truly kind person. I've always liked her. Gotta say I agreed with her about the hall of fame too. Has anybody else tried to decline?

Wow, nice discount!!

Funny, my hairdryer just went kapooey too and then our elec. toothbrush followed suit.

Totally agree!! That's what I've been telling him. It's only a problem because he's having to do it all at once instead of spreading it out over time. He he, I immediately thought of you when I saw his list.
Hola .. :)

Geeze, man .. had I known, I would have considered renting a U-Haul and heading out ..

Would have needed more than just a U-haul...
I'm gonna wait and see what Janet's list looks like .. ;)
Janet doesn't have a list. She's just happy to simplify her life.
If you do, maybe the biggest Uhaul and a trailer? :)
You could have brought a friend with a 2nd truck too! People stop by to pick up whatever they agreed to and Mike keeps asking them if they're interested in other things too. Our handyman stopped by 2 days ago with his pickup truck and great big trailer and loaded up. He's taken SO MUCH stuff and Mike keeps bringing out more. It's wonderful!!

All this talk sounds like Mike was a hoarder. He's not (almost) It's just that we had so much room there was no incentive to get rid of stuff.

I am going to try my best to be better than your neighbor.
I'm sure you will. She was not open to hearing feedback. I asked her to use one of my 22 RLs to learn the basics and she declined because she wanted to shoot her Sig.
What kind of diet have you been on to loose 45 lb
I think it's called stress and depression. However, I'm starting to get a bit better.
Not much else is going on around here so I'll go back to the movie channel.

Morning, misfits.

Still running temps lower than average, and looks to be that way for a week.

Yeah, that's what happens after not moving for 30+ years, stuff just grows. No fertilizer needed! :w00t:

Good morning David. Rainy day here thanks to this straggler hurricane. Fortunately it's just rain and no wind. It's still going to hit 70 degrees today.

Morning, misfits.

Yep. Someone said the more room you have the more you need and boy were they right. It's too easy to save stuff when you've got the room. It's like saving all those emails and then discover one day when you lose them all that you really didn't need 99.9% of them. We don't "need" 99.9% of the stuff that gets saved.
