Meet Me in St Louie Louie
@Uncle Willie, I'm reading Sarum. Good book, but I didn't realize it was so long. I'm only 1/2 way through it. I had to finish the book I was reading before starting this one, but it's obvious it's going to take some time to finish it. I should have a map in front of me as it goes to the next time frame chapter because I get confused as to which people are invading from where. I've always been challenged when it comes to directions... Anyway, thanks for the recommendation.

Yeah .. the middle third of the book was not at good as the first and last third .. it almost seemed like a different writer in that middle section .. still, a good read for me anyway .. very detailed and seemingly historically accurate ..

Hi, everybody!

Its a soggy, dreary day here with temps in the low 50’s, but it sure feels cooler than that. I left work early to meet with one of the tree guys for an estimate. I called three places, only one has called back! I will try for at least one more estimate but geez, I ain’t waiting around forever.

Today I am aggravated with work (more specifically, my boss), and found out that my aunt is dying. It also appears that my nephew may be back on drugs, and has gotten in trouble with the law. I’ve also been feeling a tinge of the holiday blues, so I guess I am feeling as soggy and dreary as the weather. I tell myself “This, too, shall pass” and try to get on with it...doesn’t seem to be anything else I CAN do.

On a happier note, I received a Christmas card today from an old friend. Sometimes it really is the little things that bring joy :) Speaking of joy, my dinner is almost done. I’m eating early because I had a light (and early) lunch so I’m starving LOL.

I hope you all have a nice evening!

I have been living with my younger Dd just about 3 years now. I’m sure I’ve mentioned that my room is small but I like it because it’s on the first floor and I don’t have to do stairs. Well, now Dd is getting estimates to extend the house by 14’. This would extend her office and my room by 14’. It will be nice to have more room. She plans to use her office extension to grow plants. Both rooms with have an outside door.

    Morning, all.

Maybe a break in the weather, although the temp has stayed over freezing, so sort of a break.

Watched a little Netflix and finished off 'House of the Dragon' on HBO MAX .. it was, IMO, not nearly as good as 'Game of Thrones' ..

Agreed. Although the book it's "based" on really doesn't give a lot of support to a series, imo. More a chronology of the Targaryans. Hope it gets better next season.

Well, here we are with nothing we HAVE to do except Mike just got covid.

Well, that, uh, sips... get well soon!

Welcome to TN service providers. I have been ripped off 4 times and had a zillion no shows for services. Not sure which city you are in but Clarksville doesn't have many honest or that wants to work.

I do have a great plumber, I am putting his kids through college though.

I always keep a reserved smile just for you WildWoman! So glad your computer is cooperating and you are visiting more often. I have really missed you since my return to ecf. Keep up the good work.

You would not hear me complain about no snow but I imagine it is weird for you. Didn't you have a pretty mild winter last year too?

It was a weatherwise yucky day. Thought if I made myself go to the gym it would maybe help me feel better. It didn't work this time but it has before and will again. I only stayed 34 minutes which is the least amount of time I've spent there. Picked up new thyroid medication and came back home. Came in the door and went straight back to bed. Felt a little better after I got up.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

    Morning, all.

Said to be gloomy but dry, until late today, when it will get gloomier and wet. Snow level way over us, until later in the week.

But, I found all your missing smileys :) I always click the "toggle width", in the drop down next to one's name, So it's the 11th from the left. If one does NOT go with the wider screen, click the drop down 9th from the left, they're in there. :) (Still haven't seen the WOW ;) )

Stops in looking around if there's still seat in the lounge for me. Have been just too busy packing, getting rid of stuff, giving away stuff and selling stuff the last two month's. Took me all morning and most of this afternoon to catch up. Was totally exhausted and worn out physically and mentally by the time we moved out of the house and had settlement. I thought I'd be dropping back in a week ago but then 'The Covid' got me. I'm still getting over it. The worst is over but I feel like someone opened the energy spigot on my body and did a total drain.

Just a quick drop in as I'm off for an afternoon nap, not a luxury nap, more a mandatory nap my body is demanding. I'll try to be back later this evening and then hopefully I'll be joining in regularly again,

Missed you all, but working/packing 7 days a week and most evenings for the last couple months, I was just too worn out to get on the computer. Glad to see woman are stronger then men and Janet was keeping you somewhat up to date on our going ons.

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
    Hola .. :(

Early this morning, around 2 AM, one of my long time friends passed .. we were Brothers in Arms, having served together in Vietnam .. he came home with a Bronze Star ..

Wayne was a very avid outdoors man, hunting, fishing, loved his Harley .. I would visit him generally, every Fall when I did my yearly Wine Tour .. I'd stay at his place and we'd swap stories and he'd cook up some venison and/or have a fish fry .. Wayne was never much for wine, drifting more toward Budweiser and a Marlboro .. He lived on some acreage out in the woods ..

When we were younger and I had my Harley, he and I would go on a Poker Run maybe 2 -3 times a year ..

His health had been in decline for maybe a year .. various ailments .. then, he got hit by a stroke about a month ago, and they put him in a Nursing Home to recuperate ..

I'd been saying to myself that I really need to get up there and see him, but, procrastination and all that ..

At any rate, his wife decided to just go with a quick cremation and no visitation or memorial service of any sort .. she's about 20 years younger than he was and when she called to tell me, she seemed more worried about her personal financial situation than anything else ..

Well, I suppose that's a valid consideration, but it really rubbed me the wrong way ..

Sadly, he was alone when he passed ..

Sorry about your friend, Willie :(

You know, Frannie, when a robust, hard living guy that gave life everything he had and then some, goes out that way, it's just plain sad to me ..

The Reaper eventually knocks on all our doors ..

    Thanks ..
