Good morning. The rain is gone, the sun is shining and it's going up to 80 today! It's a beautiful, breezy morning.

We going to Hux's final soccer game for this year. His coach is awesome. Obviously he's played a lot of soccer, I love watching him do some fancy stuff with the soccer ball every once in awhile. He's great with the kids and it shows. At 6 years old they're understanding positions and passing and the strategies of the game. Hardly any massive scrums like you usually see with the kids and they were all having a great time scoring many goals. They still don't keep score yet.

Tory, it is a pain getting the paperwork done when a family member passes. The courthouse won't answer my calls, they want everything to be done online, but the questions they want answered are frustrating. Like why they need to know the cause of death? I gave them the official notarized pending death certificate, why should they care what he died from? Even the coroner said the court can be silly. Next week the official death cert will be ready for me to pick up and my niece sent me the POA paperwork from my sister so maybe we can finally get this over with. I need to sell his car and close his bank account. Hopefully there's enough money there to pay for the funeral.

Meanwhile I'm making a list of all the things we have to do to get ready to move into our new house. Fortunately we'll be able to stay here at our daughter's house while we paint and clean and change locks etc. Looks like we'll have about 2-3 weeks to clear out our stuff from here. Our daughter is still crushed that we're not going to be living across the street, but we'll make it work. In another year Brody will be 5 and starting kindergarten so her life will be easier. She just has to keep her sanity til then! It's a good thing God made it so young people had children. It's exhausting for us old folks to deal with young'n's, especially when they're as active as ours are.

Good morning. Going to be a gorgeous day here. Sunny and going to 80 degrees.

Update on the move. Turns out we don't have a few weeks to move in after settlement. Brian's son is coming to visit so they need the bedroom. Oops. Didn't think he was coming out until July. Oh well. The rush is on to figure out utilities and cleaning and a new rug for the bedroom and address changes and move our 2 cats etc. etc. etc. We're going to get the Home Shield protection plan in case we run into any problems. Meanwhile there's still the issue of my brother's estate to deal with, but hopefully we can get that cleared up this week. Sheesh! I hope that after all this is over it's not necessary to cart me off to the funny farm.

Morning, all.

Back from the eastern oven. While it was a very nice ceremony, someone decided it would be a good idea for Spokane to set a high temp record for an outdoor wedding. With no shade and a nice souther exposure. At least as "guests" and not part of the wedding party, we didn't have to suit up :)

What! You don't have an air conditioned shirt for such occasions?

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
Hola .. :|

Staying busy .. have to squeeze in whatever outdoor work I need to get done while the weather is still fairly pleasant .. we used to have 4 distinct seasons here in fly-over-country, but things have kind of morphed over the last few years into a smaller and smaller Spring and Fall window .. it seems like temps begin hitting 90+ maybe 10 minutes after Winter ends, this year it's not been too bad .. been getting in some work outside, including painting the window trim and window washing .. yard looks great, replenished all the mulch in all the planted areas, trimmed this and that ..

I did a couple open mic nights at a local bar / eatery just because .. no real reason other than I just felt like getting out there .. that led to getting some paid gigs which really kind of surprised me since I don't play anything that's not 1950's - 1970's ..

As you all know from what tunes I've put up here, I'm not the greatest singer and at my age, I'm barely passable on a guitar, with the arthritis and all .. to top it all off, the old brain has got to the point where I lug a binder around with song notes in it so I don't forget the lyrics ..

But, the wineries are fairly forgiving, I'm liking it and I suppose that's all that counts .. people ask me 'Willie, when are you going to retire .. ??' .. I say, when they peel me off the floor ..

The other night at a winery, I had an obviously drunk young woman keep bugging me, she'd get up close and personal, dance and generally gyrate .. trying to talk to me in the middle of a song and then rubbing my shoulders .. although Management carted her away a couple times, it was still a general annoyance .. during my break, I sat at a table and had a beer, when she then decided she wanted to sit on my lap .. I got back to the stage area and assured the crowd she was not part of the show .. it's a bar, where there is drink, there will be drunk people .. but still ..

Instrument work at the workshop has been steady, so, all in all, not much to complain about .. I'm still above ground, the head meds are keeping my brain on a fairly even keel .. and, I'm down to 170 LBS from a high of 220 .. now, if my hair would just turn brown again and I could turn back 50 years, I'd be back to being a 'natural born World-Shaker ..'

Carpe Diem .. you only get one go round ..

Morning, all.

Back to early spring here, mid 40s overnight, low 60s for the high. Alas, no rain. But still refreshing after last weekend!

Well, probably a lot like us, old farts, who prefer that era :)

And, while you could dye your hair, not so easy to roll back the years... dang teleomeres.

Nice that you don't have to look for work!

One of the reasons, I have to admit, that I have about every possible streamer out there, is because I split the costs and share log ins with a few of the more expensive streamers .. places like Disney+, Netflix and HBO MAX in and of themselves can add up .. others, I manage to snag a one year deal on when the time is right .. at any rate, if you have Disney+, you also have NatGeo as a side channel ..

I've been watching 'A Small Light' series, it's 6 episodes, I believe, and it is very, very powerful, telling the story of Miep Gies who helped hide Anne Franks' and others families during the Nazi take over of areas of Europe ..

The story is gripping, the cast is top notch and the writing is superb .. Historical Drama that's so well done is not all that common now-a-days ..

So, if you have Disney+, I'd highly recommend 'A Small Light' ..

I believe there was a 7 day free trial but it's not currently offered, but if you have HULU you can add Disney+ for a small monthly fee .. also, I'm fairly certain Verizon customers can get several months free ..

Been a productive day here making arrangements for moving day. We have to be moved out 5 days after settlement to give enough time to buy a new bed for Brian's son's visit. Movers are delivering our stuff from storage on 6/12 and the next day they'll come here to move our stuff from here to the new house. Meanwhile we have a cleaner coming on 6/10 to clean the house while it's empty. I'll be there too to clean out the fridge and move in whatever I can carry from here. Waiting to hear about a locksmith and utilities etc.

It's going to feel so weird living in a new house. And it's going to be SO much quieter without the chridrins racing around and leaving messes all over. It's a good thing they're so cute!!

Morning, all.

Another nice day here, cool but still dry. Claim is the temp will rise for a couple days, but only to the low 80s.

It's going to feel so weird living in a new house.

Sounds like, despite the rush, you're making good progress! :thumb: And hiring out the big clean is smart!!

Good afternoon to everyone. The little adventurer has returned and is quite content might I add. heehee

You cannot believe how proud I am of stepping out of my comfort zone and enjoying life. I drove for a little over 5 hours and never once got scared. Well, there was one time that I and another truck had to drive off the lane into the shoulder to pass a car that was stopped. It did not scare me at the time but about 10 minutes later, I start getting clammy and thought about what could have happened. But then I was proud of myself for reacting so fast and handling it the way I did.

I also do not have the words to express my wonderful long weekend at that beautiful cabin partly in the water. (if they had been calling for torrential rains, it would have scared me to death) heehee
1cabin.jpg We slept with the sliding door open so we could hear the water and this is the view I saw every morning (after I put on my glasses) heehee

1bedroomview.jpg It was amazing. That rocking chair is where I had my morning coffee (and donut) holding hands with a very nice guy who for some reason seems to really like me. coffee.jpg After we started drinking he handed me his coffee cup and said this says it all about how he felt about me. coffeecup.jpg (I think he is a romantic and I was sopping that up like biscuits with gravy)

That wonderful man cooked my supper two nights on an open wood firepit. There was no propane tank for their gas grill so he improvised. One night we had ribeyes, baked potato, and salad. And the other night we had grilled Italian sausages, corn on the cob, and salad. The man even took me out to eat several times and got me to eat a big breakfast and a lunch. My tummy was like what the heck are you doing and don't stop.

He asked me if I like flea markets and antique stores and spent most of Saturday visiting several he found close by. I had such a wonderful time and talked to everyone I met. And he did too. Such a friendly guy. We have so many things in common that it is almost scary. He played music on a Bluetooth speaker all weekend and I bet there were not 2 songs that I had never heard from his personal playlist. We sat swinging on the front porch for hours listening and he even sang along to the songs. (not a bad singer at all and I loved that too). swing.jpg

I can't add any more pictures to this post so I am going to have to continue in another one. You had to know I was going to have a mega post.

From the 'Random Thought of the Day' File

America has become, more and more, Tabloid Nation .. This is only one absurdity from one day from one week beset by absurdities .. Non-tabloid reality is something we have consigned to the pre-social media, pre-smartphone past .. It's the place the adults used to live ..

I miss the 20th Century

Believe it or Not. But the Radius on Door Hinges are somewhat Standardized. A Very Common Corner Radius Size is 5/8" | .625"

The reason I mention this is you can buy an el-Cheapo hinge for like a Buck Ninety Eight. And then use it as a Template to Trace the Radius/Profile of the Hinge onto your piece of Wood to Cut.

Just make a tracing of the Mortise on a piece of paper and take it with you when you go to the Hardware Store.

Awesome cabin. It's like my dream cabin, in the morning you can step out the door and get your line wet while the coffee is brewing.
