Tomorrow between noon and 2pm the techs are supposed to be here to repair the A/C. Hopefully all goes well and tomorrow evening Janet and I get some relief from the humid stuffy house. (And it ain't much better outside).
What you bet it doesn't take two weeks to get some part or other?

Hey everyone. We are having storms tonight and some rain. It was so hot today. I went to the gym early and got my 10,000 steps in because I knew if I did not I would not get it done today.

I got the ladder out and got all the nails out of the gutters that the roofers left. Grrrr I have found so many in the grass. I have gone over it with a magnet but I called today to see how much it would cost to get an industrial magnet on rollers so I could make sure I got them all out of the grass. You can rent one for $34 a day. That would be cheaper than replacing a flat tire on the lawnmower.

I did have a lovely trip to Wytheville Virginia. I spent the night in Dan's truck (which is quite comfortable). I left my lights on by mistake for an hour and my battery ran down.

Dan had a delivery but would not leave me alone, so he hid me in his truck to make the delivery. I was under a blanket with pillows in front of me for 2 hours. Which was not really bad because he keeps it so cold in there and I had time to read my book in peace and quiet. I was so afraid they would come in the truck and find me. He could have lost his job over that and I would have felt so bad.

Worked out okay because when we left the plant, I got to see what it felt like going down the highway in an 18-wheeler. It was so cool. It takes so little to excite me.

I had cables so Dan jumped me off and the Honda did fine the rest of the trip home. Because they did not have another load for Dan, he got to spend Friday and Saturday nights at my house. Well, the neighbors know I date a truck driver now because he parked his truck in my driveway.

He looked at my battery and I had had it since 2009. I got 14 years out of it. He suggested I replace it so I got one at Sam's and he put it in. Sort of nice to have someone else, other than me, doing maintenance.

We ended up going back to the bar I met him at. They were having a fundraiser there for Pink House. We had a great time. It is so nice to be out in public with someone who likes to talk to everyone and have fun. We sat at a picnic table and he sang a bunch of songs to me. He is a pretty darn good singer too.

I was the designated driver (which I did not mind at all since I am not much of a drinker). Since he is always on the highway, I think he had a great time just chillin' out and drinking beer. If that was the reason he was singing to me, I'll make sure I keep the fridge stocked. heehee

At some point, I will probably stop traveling so much because with gas it does add up. But it has been so nice being able to go places and have fun. I love seeing things I have never seen before.

Well, that was my latest adventure. Got Monday over with so I hope everyone has a great week.

Some old cast iron brings a good price to collectors si I wouldn’t clean it up yet unless you’re sure you’ll be keeping it.
That is an excellent idea. I will see what is on the bottom next time I go up there. It was like a sauna up there tonight. I worked for about an hour. Got another bag of garbage though. Might have to save my treasure-seeking until it is cooler. I did donate another truck load to Freedom House Saturday. They love me there. heehee

Had a pretty active T-storm overhead last night. After all that rain I was pleased that all seems well with the house. Didn't get any water in here at all. I was worried about our daughter's one son, the little guy, because he's terrified of funder. Checked in with her this morning and they slept through the whole storm. Whew! I imagined both boys in be with her crying and carrying on. Her old dog, Izzy, is also terrified of storms, but she can't hear very well so she slept through it too.

Going up to 80 today with oppressive humidity, but the AC guys are coming to fix the unit. I'm so looking forward to that! I'm grateful that we didn't have temps in the 90s or we'd have to pack up and go back to our daughter's.

When the AC first went out we called American Home Shield. They sent someone out to fix it, but turns out he's not licensed to work on Lenox systems. He did recommend another local company and they came out the same day. Turns out the valve we need has been hard to get. They did find one in Boston and they have it now.

Never knew about an industrial magnet. What a great idea. But don't roofers use aluminum nails?

Oh no. Save the attic clean out for cooler weather! You'll have a stroke or something up there in this weather!

What is Freedom House? We had Vietnam Vets come pick up our stuff we wanted to get rid of. Just piled it out at the curb and a guy in a truck came by and Poof! All gone! I scheduled them every 2 weeks when we were cleaning out our old house. It's so nice to donate that stuff instead of putting it out in the trash. Bet they're sad now that we've moved.

We also had Liberty Thrift where we could take bigger stuff like furniture, They operate a store like Good Will does and profits help the prisoners at our local prison,

Morning, all.

Still nice here, although on the edge of too hot. Said to be just below 80 today, and about the same for a week. Still. Every night they keep adding another day of hot and dry...

so he hid me in his truck

Uh, human trafficking? ;)

Oh happy day, the AC repair was even faster than expected and we were actually chilly in here yesterday afternoon! Sleeping was wonderful snuggled under a light weight quilt and it was so quiet without all the fans going.

Today the carpet people are coming to install carpet in 2 of the bedrooms upstairs so we'll finally be able to get organized up there. Right now it looks like squatters have set up camp on the 2nd floor.

I'm finally starting to get more comfortable in the kitchen. Half my time trying to cook anything is spent finding where I put stuff. I did mange to make some chicken croquette patties last night that turned out delicious. Don't know why I haven't thought to make them more often. Luckily there's leftovers so guess what we're having for brunch today!

Yes, they probably do but evidently, the roof they took off did not. I am not sure. I just know he said they would go over the yard so I would not have to worry about it.

    What is Freedom House?
It is the wonderful thrift store that clothed me last winter with a new wardrobe that fits.

They help a lot of people. They love seeing me back up the truck. They do have a big truck so I know they pickup. I should ask them about it but I don't really mind dropping it off. It's on my way to Walmart.

Yesterday I worked in the attic until Sharon and Kenny (ex neighbors and family by marriage) asked me to go out to eat. I never turn down good eats. Went to an Italian restaurant and it was really good. I had rotisserie chicken on a salad. Delicious. But don't give me an "Attagirl" because I also got a piece of chocolate cake.

That's okay, I probably worked it off today. I got 13,500 steps in and I did not even go to the gym. Did trim work for 2 hours and then on the riding mower for an hour and 55 minutes. I did all three yards again. I even edged two of the driveways. I don't mind helping my aunt but I am looking forward to her getting her mower back.

I wrote to my friend Derek that delivers and picks up mowers and he said he would be bringing the mower back tomorrow. Wish I had had that little tidbit of info sooner.

My second cousin that lives next door (yes the one that should help his grandmother) was one of the 96 passengers on the Delta flight that had to do a crash landing this morning. Bless his heart. I know that had to be some kind of scary. It does not happen often so I am not going to let it deter me from flying one day. He was so funny telling me about it today. He said it was only a 39-minute flight so he did not go to the restroom before he boarded. He still has to go back tomorrow to Charlotte (an hour away) to get his luggage. They would not give it to them today. I hope he gets some flyer miles or discounts for the added trouble and for having the bejesus out of himself.

Dan is getting to go home again this weekend. I offered to drive down there but he said he needed some time to himself. He said he did not want me driving on a holiday weekend. Nothing wrong with taking some time to chill but I must admit, it sort of hurt my feelings. I really do think I could make the 12-hour trip. I did so well with the 5 and the 8 hour ones. Maybe one day I will get to see Florida.

So far I have no plans for the weekend.

Anyone else got some big 4th plans?

I am sure I will find something to do.

    Morning, all.

Still warm and dry here, and the only change for (still) a week is that it's going to get warmer.

My second cousin that lives next door (yes the one that should help his grandmother) was one of the 96 passengers on the Delta flight that had to do a crash landing this morning.

I'll bet that was scary! Kudos to the pilot, but of course he/she would be the first to go...
