I am still around and doing fine, just been busy and not vaping much anymore. No real reason except I don't feel I need it all the time anymore. I sure hope Bea gets relief from her new doctor. Her dear Husband is a saint.

Hope all is well for everyone else!

Are you still talking to Dan? You haven't mentioned him in awhile.
He went home to Florida this past weekend. I offered to drive down there but he did not want me to drive on a holiday weekend. I really did want to but he also said he wanted some time to himself. I'm okay with that. He ended up getting a pinched nerve in his back and going to a chiropractor. He seems to be in a lot of pain and I am not sure how he is going to climb up into that big truck. I hope it is better and I hope he has not decided I have way too many issues to keep coming to see me. I really would not blame him. We have seen each other a lot in the 73 days we have been dating. That is about all anyone can take of me.

I got rid of the five bags of garbage and all those 5 cushions dad made me put up in the attic when he bought new cushions. Never did figure that one out. I filled two recyclable containers on the street with cardboard and then visited the dumpsters behind a grocery store.

Went to my cousin because she said she would trim my hair for me. She asked me to bring her a milkshake from Cookout which made me feel better since she did trim my hair. It would have been rude for me not to get one and drink it with her. Such a sacrifice.

Why do all beauticians want to talk you into cutting your hair short? I let her cut it up to my shoulders 4 years ago and I just did not like it. She says it would make me look younger. I really don't care. I just love putting it in a ponytail. It's low maintenance.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful 4th. I fixed a baked potato and was still hungry so I fixed a PB&J (sorry Mike). I have not had one in a long time so it was pretty good. I would have rather had something else.

Ever since it first came up as a 'topic', I've kinda been riding the old fence on the issue of Student Loan forgiveness .. while I understand many young folks get saddled with a big dept load, to me, they went into it with eyes wide open .. I suppose figuring that the degree would be worth it and they would eventually pay up ..

On the other hand, I think we ended up in a time where many students, who were taught they were somehow 'special', decided to attend college and go for the Dream Job .. you know, like any sort of Artist or other profession that's a long, if not impossible slog to making any real money ..

Then, you've got that whole sub-faction of people that went to college, ended up with a big loan, and, lo and behold, put their nose to the grindstone and paid the thing .. do they get a rebate by having done the right thing .. ??

In ways, forgiving these loans is continued enabling of a society that already drifts toward entitlement philosophies ..

Then, of course, there used to be a time when there was free or low cost college, if my memory serves ..

I served my Country, voluntarily, and for that service and an Honorable Discharge, I used the GI Bill .. IMO, more should try it .. the Military is currently begging for people .. but, it's become kind of an easy ride these days as well .. the core principal of Discipline has weak Kung Fu within a good swath of the Military today .. which really mirrors the Discipline of a good portion of young folks these days ..

Flipping a burger around these parts will get you $15 bucks an hour just for showing up .. yet, places still can't get and retain any, even mediocre, employees ..

There is no real answer, but it just seems to me, forgiving a debt just because, is not the Worlds Greatest Idea ..

Why not tether it to some sort of Community Service work and at least try and get something out of that 'gift' .. ??
Totally agree with you. You'd think the students were never told what their tuition was going to be. And like you said, the majors chosen were not likely going to give them the salary they dream about. Although the accounting graduates that were hired out of college where I worked definitely turned out not to have much of a work ethic and soon decided changes needed to be made at the office to accommodate them. Another co-worker had a Subway franchise and couldn't get reliable help. The stories she told!

Willie, you prepaid your tuition. Your education definitely was not free. Every time I hear demands for getting perks that people "deserve" I can't help but want to ask what they did to deserve it.

Morning, all.

Still hot and dry here, but said to be backing off on the temps. Tomorrow. Always tomorrow....

Hair done for the price of a milkshake? :thumb:

Unincorporated Pierce Co, where we are, still allows fireworks, but only on the 4th, and only until midnight. And the local bozos did, until midnight. Thankfully they didn't start any nearby fires...

Yeah, brush and forest fires already going, lets shoot a bunch of flaming magnesium at it...

Correct me if I'm wrong, however, consistent vape use is really not a requirement to stick around ..

Just a thought .. ;)

Mike is probably not going to remember this, but a while back, after I biatched about glass cleaners that were ineffective and left streaks, he recommended Invisible Glass .. I bought some and have used it ever since .. not just on the truck, but house windows as well ..

At any rate, it was overcast most of the day yesterday and I decided to get crackin' on detailing the truck, which sorely needed it .. when I finished the interior windshield, rather than get out and get some other cleaning product for the dash and what not, I got lazy and just used the Invisible Glass .. it appeared to be a superior cleaner for the interior areas as well ..

Winning ..

It's the small things ..

A year ago, I tried to get a TN driver's license and failed the eye exam. It scared me because I have never had trouble seeing most of the bottom line and I couldn't see any of the lines clearly. After an exam and finding out I have macular degeneration and after cataract surgeries in both eyes, I went to try for a license today and passed.

Recent eye exam showed not a lot of progression with md and with my new glasses, I will have 20/20 again. Don't know for how long I will be able to see but I am happy with the latest results. New treatment might be needed in future, they are making a lot of progress with md. Scares the heck out of me to get shots in my eyes though.

    Good you got your license.

MIL suffered from MD, and did get the shots. Yeah, spooky. But they did work for her, not only slowing the progression but fixing it some. And she passed about 5 years back so likely even better now.
I thought the procedure was recently approved? I can't stand anyone near my eyes so I dunno. Don't know how I ever managed tattoo eyeliner.

I've got tattoos in some normal locations .. my Auntie Anita has tattooed eyeliners .. I don't how anyone can go thru that .. I guess it does save time and effort from that point on

    Kudos to you ..

I'm glad you're satisfied with it as a window cleaner and now you've taught me something. I'll have to try it when cleaning off the dash, etc next time I clean the car.

I worked in the attic again today or should I say sauna. My pores have never been cleaner.
    1YES.gif

I found out why my hummingbird feeder has been going down so fast. He even knocked one on the ground. I have fed them for years and this is the first time I have ever had a problem with a squirrel.

    20230705_073911.jpg

Found a little plastic figure in the attic today and threw it in the garbage. I found another one in the box and used the Google Lens app to see what it was.

Screenshot_20230705_135440_Google.jpg Needless to say, I got the other one out of the garbage bag. What kind of person would spend that much on a little plastic toy that is not even cute? There is no telling what I have tossed in the garbage before I started looking things up. Sheesh!

I have a dental appointment tomorrow that was supposed to be a 1. They called today and wanted to know if I could come in at 8. I go down to the local community college and let the students clean my teeth. They want a good grade so they do a good job but it takes F O R E V E R. The things I subject myself to just to save money. They have to do x-rays tomorrow so they said it would be $7.50. It's $5 if they forget.

    Hope everyone is staying cool.

    Morning, all.

Still hot and dry, and the early dreams of rain have been scrapped. Somebody at the station must have looked at the radar, or something...

I thought the procedure was recently approved? I can't stand anyone near my eyes so I dunno. Don't know how I ever managed tattoo eyeliner.

Might be there's a newer drug for it? She's been getting the shots for probably 4 or 5 years before she passed, and that was about 5 back. (I have been seeing some ads for, I think, a new treatment for MD, so maybe that's what you've seen as well?)

So, maybe a new drug that works better?

What kind of person would spend that much on a little plastic toy that is not even cute?

Well, it IS a cat ;) Yeah, sometimes it's really hard to see why some item has any value.

    Hola .. :|

This may sound bad, fair warning .. I still put my time in at the workshop making a few shekels and staying busy .. subsequently, I generally don't wash my hands until I get home and take a shower .. my hands always get a buildup of various grime / oily / greasy substances (you would not think that with musical instruments, but, tis true ..) .. at any rate, the steering wheel cover gets gunked up over time ..

You can feel it when you drive, you can see it .. I sprayed the Invisible Glass on a micro-fiber cloth fairly heavily and wiped down the steering wheel a couple times .. the cloth was nasty by the time I got done, and the wheel looked new .. I kid you not .. the stuff is that good ..

And, with anything glass, it's like a miracle
