There's even a phone app for it. In the last month we've only had 3/4" of rain and YTD 25.8 inches.

Ok @DavidOck, I'm curious and waiting to see what your numbers are.

Morning, all.

The screen grab you posted showed it well, 0.00. Not seeing where to access ytd, but we're well below average.

At least the latest blown forecast was wrong in favor of staying alive. Yesterday was said to be mid 90s, only hit mid 80s :)

Good morning. We're getting some relief from the heat today. It's 77 now, going to 81 with off and on rain today. The rain is certainly welcome.

Yesterday I ironed a bed skirt ruffle for our guest bed. Of course the ruffle was too long so I had to pin it up all around. It looked great until we put the mattress back on. It took almost as long to tuck and pull it all the way around as it did to iron and pin it up in the first place. Needless to say that ruffle is not coming off - ever - unless we get rid of the bed.

Good afternoon all. I have been busy again! At the last minute, Perry asked me to go to Goldsboro (93 miles away) because he had to take something to be bored at a machine shop. Of course, I said sure. I'll do or go anywhere.

They did not get finished so we had to spend the night. Perry made a few new friends and I liked them also. They paid for my lunch one day which I thought was nice.

Today, Perry went back to work and left me here at his house. I've done two loads of clothes (mostly mine) and I have 5 lbs of London Broil in the dehydrator. The house smells delicious. I love his jerky and now I know how to make it.

We stopped by an audio store to see one of his friends on the way back. I love listening to music just as much as the next one but I was shocked to see how much speakers cost. Anywhere from $14,000 to $150,000 per speaker. Sheesh! Perry brought his Bose radio to my house and it sounds wonderful and that is all I need. Perry is big into stereo systems and that is what is going in the room that I just finished helping him do the floor. I can't imagine what his music is going to sound like.

Feels like rain to me and it is a cloudy day. Perry has offered to drive me to TN two weekends in a row to pick up the rest of Ken's possessions. I could not have gotten them back by myself because I have never pulled a trailer or a camper. I think Perry must like me a lot to offer to drive a total of 34 hours. So I think I am leaving for TN tomorrow morning. We will just stay overnight and head back. I can't help but be a little sad. I still miss Ken and Perry understands that because he was Ken's friend also.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Uh, that's a bunch! Who did the counting? ;)
He bought 20 dozen ears but believe it or not, I did not count them. That is pretty weird for me. All I know is that's a bunch of corn. I hope Perry keeps me as a friend because I should enjoy some of it.
$2.69 for 24, you do have to order $15 min, I'm sure they have jars also.
That is a great price. Thanks for posting that. Perry is a canning demon. I have already enjoyed his salsa and vegetable beef soup. I will gladly keep him in lids as long as I get the benefits.

I never thought I would say this but. . . I like deer meat. Perry fried some last night and I ate two pieces and not once did I think of Bambi like I thought I would. Perry said I did not have to eat it just to please him but I didn't. It was good.

Later all. Have a great afternoon.

Tried to hit the yard work before 8 AM today, rain had delayed things and getting thru the 'jungle' was tough .. heat wave coming back, but then we have a 'cooling' trend .. this does not reflect the 'heat index', which will be high

"Most of the time" is about as good as it gets.

Before I retired from the power industry, we all thought the Texas grid was a joke. Beginning with them NOT able to connect to other grids for support.

And guess where their money is going:
But rather than shuttling money into strengthening its grid to make sure the lights and A/C stay on during increasingly extreme weather, Texas is pouring billions of taxpayer dollars into new natural gas-fired power plants.

Adding more electricity to the grid isn’t necessarily a bad thing because the state is facing higher demand, said Texas energy expert Doug Lewin, founder of consulting firm Stoic Energy. But flooding the energy grid with more planet-warming fossil fuels won’t make power lines resilient to stronger storms.

Doesn't matter how many power plants you have - of ANY source - if you don't have the transmission lines...

Yeah, that became apparent and made national headlines during the Winter some year back .. I suppose that's all part of the Master Plan for Texas to become it's own Country .. which, in concept, makes no sense either, since exiting the Union would then eliminate any and all National programs ..

You know, like a little thing called Social Security, etc, etc

Yep, we're about the same here. This high humidity is awful too.

I love gerbera daisies, but have to have them potted on the deck because the bunnies evidently think they're a free gourmet meal. Man do they need a lot of water! The daisies, not the bunnies. One minute they're fine and the next they're melting over the edge of the pot. That would be me if I were a daisy. I was putzing in the garden for 1/2 hr and had to come back inside.
