Morning, all.

They decided to turn the thermostat up for a few days before the still promised cool down for Monday... near 90 for the next three days. Again.

And tossed in another hot day for Tuesday... but only for one day, they claim. Uh huh.

At least cover the deductible :)
Now you should know the kind of luck I have. He did not carry comprehensive on his work truck. There is a mobile unit coming to my house tomorrow to replace the window. I was actually expecting it to cost more. I am not complaining though. $291 is plenty enough for me to fix my mess up.

I am still pleasantly surprised that he did not get the least bit upset with me. If it had been the other way around, I would not have gotten upset with him because I know accidents happen. Dad would have at least been fuming for a couple of days. He was of the mind set that accidents were preventable for everyone but him! heehee

The rain makes me hurt so bad but it has been nice getting some much needed rain this weekend. Maybe my grass will not crunch when I get home. I was pleased that Perry got both our yards mowed because after this rain, it is going to do some kind of growing.

Perry's brother has a huge farm with lots to mow. Perry asked me if we could take my Exmark over there for him to see how much faster he could be doing his mowing so we did and yes, he is now looking for a commercial diesel mower. He offered to buy mine since I only have 2 1/2 acres but I quick told him it was not for sale. I know I don't really need it but it is nice being able to get the yard done so quickly.

Perry grilled out Ribeye's last night and fixed the sides. They were cooked to perfection. When I was married, I did all the grilling because my ex charred everything. Charred is putting it mildly. It is so sad to turn a Ribeye into jerky. heehee

Hope everyone has a nice, relaxing Sunday!!

Good morning! Must have gotten a lot of rain last night, but the sun is out now and looks like it's turning into a lovely day. Going to 86.

We're taking our guests kayaking shortly. My only concern is me getting in and out of the kayak! I may have to roll out of it! This should be interesting...

Morning, all.

Another dry but otherwise nice day here. Temps are still in the "normal" range, high 70s. May approach the low 80s for the weekend, so not bad. Rain would be good, though not likely.

Hope you got out of the kayak ok ;)

We had a wonderful day yesterday. The weather cooperated by being overcast and not too hot. The kayaking was relaxing and fun. I had no problem getting into the kayak, but the getting out didn't go so well. It took both Mike and Christofer to pull me out, but at least I didn't dump myself into the lake.

Later we went to a local brewery restaurant for dinner. Our son and daughter, along with their families, met us there and we had a great time. After we ate everyone came back to our house and the visit continued. Those spontaneous gatherings are the best!

This morning our guests packed up and headed out to a lodge in the Pocono Mts. for 2 days. Then they'll head to NY City for 2 more days before boarding a plane to return to Germany. It was so sad to see them go. Maybe someday we'll be able to pay them a visit.

Good morning all. Woke up to a cloudy day and 95% chance of rain. If I had not already made up the bed, I would go lay back down. I have been know to lay on top with a blanket so it is not out of the question. heehee

Had my coffee and now snacking on some beef jerky that I made yesterday. I sure do like Perry's dehydrator. He has never tried it but I am wanting to try some apples, pineapples, and anything else that sounds good.

Made a meatloaf, country fries with onion, bacon, and cheese, collards, and cantaloupe for supper. Perry seems to really like my cooking. I hope I did not hurt his feelings because I told him I was feeling a little too domesticated lately. heehee That's not my idea of a non-relationship. Oh well, I liked supper too!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Played with Perry's dehydrator yesterday. I am going to need to do some more reading on it. I tried cantaloupe, tomatoes and blueberries. I ate most of the cantaloupe. The tomatoes will be good on my next salad. The blueberries will definitely take a lot longer than the jerky. At least I have gotten that one down pat. heehee I do love me some jerky.

I cannot believe it is Friday already again. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Morning, all.

Still coolish here, still no rain. But they have decided to put the promise of some next week. We'll see... probably if any does come down it will be north Sound, not here.

I am going to need to do some more reading on it.

One of many, "food dehydrator recipes" was the search term :)

Good morning. Looks like it's going to be a gorgeous day here. Sunny and going to 85.

My big project or the day is making peasant bread. Looks like a pretty easy recipe and while it's raising I'll work on cleaning out the fake squirrel-proof bird feeders. The only way those feeders are squirrel proof is if you find a way to totally keep the squirrels off the feeders because they've figured out how to hang upside down from the top to get the seeds. We've outsmarted them by putting a torpedo-shaped tube on the post. It's made the birds very happy.

Many years ago I made jerky and some dried fruits, but my cheap hydrator trays broke so that ended that. Love me some jerky so you've inspired me to look into doing it again. Hmm, a dehydrator might be a good addition to my Christmas list.

Morning, lizards.

Temp said to be up a tad today and tomorrow, but not oven levels. They're still guessing about something from the sky Monday night, but, as expected, most will be to the north.

Yeah, squirrels.... My avi cat, long gone, used to catch them. IN the trees. He was as agile as them, and faster :) And watched him take a belligerent jay (Stellar, we don't really have "blue jays" here) out of the air. Bird didn't know Red could jump literally 3' straight up. Caught himself a nice lunch :) Harass the cat game wasn't fun for the birds any more, and all his buddies in the trees got really quiet and then left the scene.
