Forgot to mention that the Labor Day party on Saturday with our gang of friends was great. The host's husband made to most delicious chocolate cake and a killer pineapple upside down cake. I was afraid to get on the scale this morning, but still think I'll have to finish that piece of chocolate cake for breakfast today. Can't let it go to waste.

Looks like Fall is arriving here. The next 10 days are only going to be in the 70's with nights dipping into the 50s. Love those temps, but my garden and flowers on the deck are looking sad.

Morning, loungers.

Well, Janet, that's not far off donuts ;)

While today is said to be low 70s, high 70s for a couple days then a few more in the 80s. But, yes, nights are cool here as well, so no problems cooling down the inside in the AM.

Sorry, in advance for the long post. . .

I have been complaining that Perry and I do not have real dates like I thought dating should be. We sort of just started acting like married folk. I am not saying that is a bad thing because I am pretty darn content but anywho, he was supposed to take me on a date Saturday night. A real one where he picks me up and everything.

It was a fiasco from the start. He was supposed to take me to The Reel which is a fish place so my taste buds were all set for seafood. Because he refuses to use a GPS unless absolutely an emergency, we got lost and drove all over town. Then he said we could find a place for a good steak. The tastebuds were not happy but adjusted. Drove around longer. I finally said I had not had a Whooper in a long time so lets just go to BurgerKing. I was serious because as far as fast food, I do like BurgerKing. He did not like that idea so we went further.

Found a new place that was Korean food and he wanted to try it. Because of the wait, we sat at the bar waiting for a table. This place was very pretty and very busy but it was also very expensive. For $30 per person, you could sit there for 2 hours and eat as much as you wanted. Perry has had a gastric sleeve so there was no way he could eat much and Lord knows I don't need all-you-can-eat two hours. But the kicker was that in the center of the table, there was a built-in cooker and everyone cooked their own food. I told Perry I was on my first real date and he would have to do the cooking. He was a bit agitated about the place too so we ended up leaving after he paid for a sweet tea that tasted awful and I had returned it because I told him I could not drink it. They did not offer a refund and Perry said not to worry about it. That just is not right either.

Oh well, almost two hours later we ended up at my fav little restaurant Bonbon's (which is a couple miles away from my house) and we had those delicious ribs again.

When we got home his stomach was messed up and he was tired. I understood that because he worked yesterday in a hot building. I would tell his boss that he either turned on the a/c or I would be back to work in the fall.

We laughed about our night and he felt bad because he said he knew I was disappointed. I told him we would try it again another night but that next time, I would pack a little snack to take with me.

Yesterday turned out a little better. We went to a cookout at a friend of his and it was delicious. We were on the motorcycle and had torrential rains while we were there. I would not have gotten wet if the wind had not been blowing so bad. But it didn't matter. A couple of hours later the rains stopped and Perry said we needed to get home. So I still have not been caught in the rain yet. Although he hung my helmet on the side mirror and I can tell you we got a little over a inch. My helmet made a pretty good rain gauge.

Yesterday Mike and our son took our 7 year old grandson fishing. He accidently caught a baby fish, but then got a good size one a little later so he was happy. They also got to see a rather large snapping turtle. Never know what you'll spot around a fishing pond.

Afterward we headed to or son's house for dinner. He had put a pork shoulder in the smoker that morning so 7 hours later we had delicious pulled pork and some salads.

Today I have to go for my dental check up. Yuck. We still go to our dentist near our old house so it's a 40 minute drive. We like this guy and figured only going twice a year isn't too bad. If only our old chiropractor was a little closer we'd stick with him too. Oh well, it's a gorgeous day for a drive. 74 and sunny.

Morning, all.

74 and sunny would be nice, we're heading back to the low 80s, and sunny, of course, Hoses continue to smile at the attention...

They also got to see a rather large snapping turtle.

Soup, with it's own bowl :)

Seems the cartoonist heard you, Rat :)

Oh well, the Labor Day cookout made up for the less than expected real date. They had so much food. Not just burgers and hotdogs. They had ribs, shrimp, and swordfish (which was another first for me).

Perry took two big jars of our salsa and they almost ate it all. The guy that brought two jars of Picante said his made no one want to open one of his jars.

We both have shared it so much with our friends that we almost need to make another batch. It was fun so I don't mind. It was easier than the 240 ears of corn!

Getting caught up on my laundry and then going to finish getting my teeth cleaned. They only have to polish them and she said it would not take too long. My question is if it doesn't take long, why didn't they finish up in the 4 hours I was there last week? Oh well, the $3.50 cleaning was a huge savings and I really do think it is wonderful that the students get to work on real people. It is a win-win in my book.

We have had enough rain but I feel like we are going to get more. It is cooler though and I actually got out and walked my street like I used to do. I am determined to get back to walking and eating right. I am going to lose this 20 lbs I have put back on. Makes me so mad at myself. I can't help I am willpower-challenged!

Only took another hour to finish up and I did not mind it at all because the girl is so pleasant and gentle, which is a huge plus. I will have her one more time before she graduates.

I was going to be productive this afternoon but I am just not feeling it. Isn't it wonderful to have a choice?

Our lives are running on the same treadmill - I finished up my laundry yesterday and today went to have my teeth checked and cleaned today. Yay! No problems and don't have to go back to the dentist for 6 months. Woohoo!

I'd lost 30 lbs, but have put at least 10 back on. Gotta get back to my diet, but when I'm making great desserts and eating great meals at parties it's hard. It's not fair that it doesn't take all that many calories to put on several pounds! Speaking of treadmills, my treadmill is getting lonely so I'll have to introduce myself again.

Very funny David, but don't know how you'd even catch one let alone cook it. Those turtles are MEAN! Interesting creatures, but MEAN!

I have been so busy this week and must tell you I have been pretty productive. Amazing what you can do when you stay home and work on stuff!

Duke Power told me they were going to have to cut down 3 bushes and a tree. I did not mind the bushes. They said I could cut them back 6 feet but I didn't like them where they were at anyway so I said cut 'em down. I was also excited to get this huge tree cut down. The only problem is that they shredded all that they could and left the big pieces of the trunk. What am I supposed to do with those? I called and complained and a man came out today when I was not there (they told me he would call first and he did not). He said it was not their responsibility and for me to get in touch with another department. I will call them tomorrow and see what I can do. I may just have to roll them somehow in the yard and try to burn them. I cannot believe they would leave that behind for the customer to handle. Sheesh! I did not complain about the ruts in the yard. Hopefully, they will fill in when it rains. They threw out grass seeds but I doubt that grows this time of year.

Perry has been saying he would take me so I could get my passport when he renews his. It has been months and I have said numerous things about it. He just works all the time and it is not open on the weekend. Oh well. This o'l girl gps'd my booty downtown today and submitted my application. The woman was so nice and helpful. I was glad they did not have to take my BP because I circled the place twice before I found the right entrance. I am not sure where I am going or who I am going with but I'm going somewhere.

Weeded my chainlink fence which was looking pretty bad. I have done my trim work and edging too. I am going to mow tomorrow if I feel like it. I have been trying the carnivore diet this week. I do not think I am going to be able to do it. I miss my salads and veggies. The only way I have ever lost weight was by watching my fats. But I have lost 4 lbs so far this week which is pretty amazing because I have not been hungry. I have also started walking again and have made it 6000 steps each day this week. I am going to get off this 20 lbs (now 16) that I have put on, one way or another.

Sorry for the long post. Y'all have a good night.

@Rat2chat2 you might want to check out the keto diet. It is working well for me and helps with all sorts of health issues as well. Dr Eric Westman and Dr Berg have a ton of good info on youtube. Get to have salads with certain veggies, only fruits are berries. Tons of great recipes out there as well.

    Morning, all.

Still hot, still claiming it will cool off... tomorrow.

Rain still only from the hoses...

Duke Power told me they were going to have to cut down 3 bushes and a tree.

And their reason was? If for line clearance they SHOULD have taken it all. Heck, some years back the local (and small) cable outfit was stringing lines (for a neighbor's service) across the front of our property, and had to run it through a gnarly cottonwood. I said they could take it down if they wanted. They smiled, thanked me, and took it ALL away. Both of us were happy :) Dang weed trees.

I mentioned a while back that my 2013 Chevy Avalanche was getting a bit long in the tooth .. it's an impossible vehicle to replicate, so you either keep the durn thing or settle for something else ..

I decided to go with a 2024 Dodge Ram Crew Cab short bed .. it's about as close to the ride and drive of my Avalanche .. going with a rear wheel drive, since it's slightly lower and I don't really need a 4x4 ..

Prices have gotten back to semi-normal on trucks .. still high, IMO, but it's unlikely that we'll ever see pre-Pandemic price levels ever again, just the way it is ..

Why does a color other than white, black or silver cost more .. ?? That's why the streets are so bland anymore .. back in the day, you could get about any color in the rainbow ..
