Geez, woke up this morning to 49 degrees! Had to turn the heat on. Funny thing about our kitchen. There's vents under the bottom cabinets so I take my time fixing a mug of coffee in the morning and let my tootsies get toasty! How nice.

Yesterday there were 2 gold finches sitting on the feeder rod on the deck. They must be migrating through because we don't usually see them around here.

My poor garden is looking sad. Every other day I cut back more spent vines. Pretty soon I'll be able to put in some radish seeds. I'd like to put in some other cool weather plants, but I'm not sure what our local garden center will have. Think I'll have to check them out tomorrow.

Then again, hard for them to guess what colors would sell well and which would just gather dust...

https://www.cnn.com/2024/09/07/business/stellantis-recall-ram-brake-software/index.html The vehicles being recalled include certain 2019, 2021-2024 Ram 1500 trucks, the NHTSA said Saturday in a statement.

I'm simply advocating for no 'upcharge' for a color that's not white, silver or black ..

Recall is a software update, not a major issue ..

You just got me thinking - do any cars have hood ornaments anymore?
Aside from the theft issues, those fancy hood ornaments had a tendency to slice pedestrians open if you happen to hit someone. I think the safety issues led to their demise. Spring loading helped a bit, but I'm sure it was just cheaper and less risky to get rid of them.

I ended up having a nice weekend and hit the floor running this morning. Did a lot of trimming with Perry's hedge trimmer. The thing is pretty heavy and boy can I feel it tonight in my shoulders. I have a pretty big brush pile to burn after it dries out a bit. The weather was beautiful today and I refused to stay in the house.

I brought home the leftover salad last night and even though it was soggy as all get out, it made a tasty supper. We split the salad and still had a bunch left over. There is no way I could eat a whole one because they are huge.

Hope everyone sleeps well and has a great day tomorrow.

Good morning. Going up to 79 today (how do they know that?) and not much chance of rain for the next 12 days. Maybe a stray shower once in awhile, but no real rain in the forecast. Looks like good weather to weed the back berm.

I guess the local gov't here doesn't trust people to burn their yard waste and they're probably right. So, we buy those brown leaf bags and stuff them full of our trimmings and then they come by and pick them up. When the leaves really start falling we can blow them to the curb and the sweeper truck comes by and sucks them all up. Wonder if I could talk them into doing the inside of the house after the kids have left.

I used to tell people I opened the doors and cranked up the backpack blower. That was just a joke but I have used my hairdryer to dust.

    Morning, all.

Nice temps continue this corner of the continent. They're still muttering about maybe "rain" overnight, and based on their guess we'll have heavy dew...

I used to tell people I opened the doors and cranked up the backpack blower.

Get a battery powered blower, so you don't have to inhale the fumes :)

That heavy Stihl hedge trimmer was awesome to use but boy, this morning I am moving in slo-mo. Perry said he would use his truck and help me move those huge tree trunk pieces to the brush pile I started. Duke Energy did not have the nerve to call and talk to me so they sent an email saying it was the owner's responsibility and my complaint would be closed. GRRRRR

I still do not think it is right. They should have left everything the way they found it.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Take a photo of the pile of logs and post it for free on Market Place or Nextdoor. We were surprised that we had a few responses and our pile was quite old and a mess. A guy did come with a truck and took a few of the pieces, Mike laid the rest of the pieces along the back edge of the property in the woods. It actually looks just fine, The previous owner started it with any trees that fell and Mike just added to it.

Or you could wait til Winter and start a really big fire and call it your Yule log decoration.

I was going to take a day off yesterday but no. . I got out and trimmed a Rhododendron that was taller than my house—and dragged all the brush to the field beside me. My dad had his father's big pile of tomato sticks so I was throwing them on the pile to burn. There was some wasp or yellow jacket nest in the cinder block. I got the heck out of there and only got stung once. I was lucky. I am not very good at taking it easy.

I put the battery charger on my truck and it is running fine today so I am going to take that truck load to donate to the thrift store. Getting rid of stuff one truck load at a time. That is still progress.

I am getting so tired of all the inquiries about the camper I put on Market Place. This is the first time I have ever tried to sell anything. I am glad I am getting a response but why hasn't someone gone to look at it? I have had several want to trade stuff with me. I don't need another motorcycle or trailer. Perry said today we would just go to TN and bring it back here because maybe I could sell it easier than up there. I hate to ask him to do that again. I think I am going to call the Veterans today and see what the process is to donate it to them. They will go pick it up and I have the title. I would be out the $4000 I paid Ken's father for it but at least it would be helping a veteran.

I am in such a whackadoodle mood today. Even more whackadoodle than most of my days are.

I guess the local gov't here doesn't trust people to burn their yard waste and they're probably right.

I have 2 times during the year when yard waste burn is allowed .. 1 week each .. I don't do it .. I'm personally against it for environmental reasons, in addition, old folks, of which I am one, don't need the smoke, asthmatics, etc ..

A few years back, one neighbor was getting ready to burn waste .. I went over with my paper bags and rake, and bagged it all up for them .. explaining why I was doing it .. they have not burned any since ..

    Go Kamala ..

Well, I made my truckload donation to the thrift store. Then when I started to leave, my truck would not crank. I had a dead battery. Luckily, there was an Advance Auto in the shopping center I was at and I asked them for help. A very nice man jumped me off. He would not take any money from me but I tried.

Perry has a friend that can get good prices on batteries so he is bringing me one tonight. Not sure yet how much it will be but it does not really matter because I have to have one.

Perry is going to grill out some hamburgers after he gets off work. I also got some asparagus and mushrooms for him to grill too. I made him some deviled eggs because he seems to really like them. I just want to eat, relax and go to bed. I am finished with this day!

Hope everyone has a great evening.
