Katy , the soil in here is like sand, local food taste like nothing , i enjoyed the fruits when i was in California

The soil here IS sand lol. If you want a garden you either have to build a raised garden and fill it with good soil/manure or else grow your veggies in 5 gallon buckets. I grew tomatoes twice. First time I spent about 50.00 and got one stinkin' tomato. The second time I bought roma tomato plants and planted them in a big upside down planter that dear brother gave me. That was more successful. The plant that seems to do super around here is the sweet 100's -- little bite sized tomatoes you can carry around in a baggie and munch on all day. I think about a garden but never get around to it... just flowers....
