Bobbi, you prob already know this but your thyroid controls your cholesterol. Not sure how out of whack your thyroid is, but when I was first diagnosed with hypothyroid, my cholesterol was really high. It never had been before, and when my thyroid meds started working, it came back down and is really good now.I suspect this LDL/HDL thing won't be exactly fun...I really enjoy even looking at fattening foods!
I also take Krill Oil from Mercola.com, it's supposed to really help with that as well. (I figure it's less expensive than statins, and a lot healthier for ya)

When I changed to this Doctor I told her what I was on and she prescribed one slightly lower and wanted a blood test in 6 weeks. Now it is low enough that the new one will be half again as much so I suspect it will help my cholesterol. Then again I will have to eat the "right" diet to lower it as DH will do better if I do it with him. That's ok, I love veggies, whole grain breads, fish... huh, ok so fact is (you'd never get this from the earlier discussion...) I just plain love most all food! I hope to get him to try a few good cabbage dishes I brought home from the Czech Republic last time for one thing!
So far I managed to get the COPD that passed up the other kids but managed to skip on the diabetes that the others all got. I was a bit nervous about that one as I have it in a huge way on both sides of the family! They are 50/50 on insulin injection dependence.
